    Great video man! I love the diversity of machines making their own tunes with nature overlooking the progress! The leaf landing in the wires was pure natural improv!

      Thank you so much! Me too. I found this falling leaf as allegory for randomness of synth's signals. :)

    This is amazing. I finally just got some stackable cables and was able to give this patch a try tonight. I spent a good couple hours just listening to the sounds emanating from my speakers. I spent another hour experimenting with various parameters. I also used my Digitakt to sample a bunch of stuff this patch created :)

    • @RomanWave

      Very cool! Stackable cables open so much possibilities and new ways of thinking, when I find out that they are exist I was really amazed how simple and at the same time powerful this solution is.

    I've been considering moving from software to hardware, and the Neutron is on my list with a question mark. It comes with so many great basic modules, but I was worried it might all be a bit "too basic". This patch really changed my mind! Thanks for this cool patch!

      fantastic synth, just be sure the get those cables that you can patch through as well. learn without patches, then with basic patches, and then start on stuff like this!

    This was incredible! I want to get into modular synths, and was considering the being by getting the Neutron. Now I am sure. Thank you so much for this beautiful music and for the inspiration. :)

      Do it, but have a clear goal. This is a great starting point. You can sequence it via midi or with cv. The Korg sq-1 will sequence this easily too. Eurorack is an easy money pit so pick your purchases wisely and if you buy a case get a mid size. The small ones fill up incredibly fast. If you want drums I recommend doing it externally with a computer or a drum machine. Eurorack drums eat up a lot of rack space and you end up needing a mixer just for your drums. External drums have more options and can be a cheap pocket operator or an expensive linn drum or everything in between.

    Great sound and very helpful tips - thank You!
    I'm studying this video with my own Neutron now to better understand the concept behind the Krell patch and I would be grateful for some answers - 1) why it has to be in a paraphonic mode? 2) How does it happen it produces different lenghts for lower and higher tones?
    And I think You haven't mentioned osc1-in cable, is it from s&h as well?

    • @RomanWave
      @RomanWave  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi, great! Thank you for watching, my pleasure! 1) It has not, it's your own decision. Paraphonic is monodic in it's own logic, it's just about "colors" of your sound in this case. 2) It's really simple - we put Sample and Hold to Mult (to duplicate signal), mult2 goes through Attenuator to LFO (which regulates a length of notes) - so, this signal for pitch and rate is the same, and the higher notes are always shorter then lower. about osc1-in - it's just an option for experimenting. my main target was to explain the logic of self-playing concept using Neutron. Thank you again for your questions and interest, hope it helped a little. Happy patching 🙏🤖

    I just ordered the Neutron and it's on the way. I'm super excited to get my first taste of modular synthesis. So basically this is the synthesizer playing itself? Very interesting that you can get the synth to play randomly like this. Looking forward to learning how to do stuff like this.

    • @RomanWave
      @RomanWave  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Brian Fassbender “Complimenti!” Yes, patching it for playing itself without any input (sample&hold makes it possible) This semi-modular synth gives you so many possibilities to creat sound that you imagine - it’s only about your creativity :) Feel free to tell me your impression about Neutron!

    I am definitely getting a neutron after this! What are you using to power it though? Is it an external power bank/power supply?

    • @RomanWave
      @RomanWave  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      This time i used 12v external power supply. But there are options - you can use power bank with 18650 rechargeable batteries and voltage regulator (to be able to use it for different devices) .

      @@sleepyjessie My congratulations! It's just first week, after you learn the scheme of patching - it will be easier, but colored cables are really helpful anyway :) I'm thinking about creating a video manual/lesson for Neutron soon :)

    Probably i am too stupid to follow your instructions or you forgot something in the text. There is a red split wire in OSC1 input that the text does not mention and i can't clearly see where it goes, maybe also to the sample and hold out ? Will watch several more times and on bigger screen.
    Thank you anyway, helps to understand it and even some "wrong" versions when messed up your written instructions even more worked and sounded good.
    Actually now that i seemingly got it right it does not sound as good, also absolutely unlike yours, very noisy, sbuzzy bass, got to spend more time with this.

    • @RomanWave
      @RomanWave  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for feedback! The best way is to try understand main principles of the logic. I used MULT1 for duplicating signal and other stackable wires work same way (mult2 and attenuator fro example).

      @@nikonerf8410 okay, it’s your opinion. You don’t like it, it’s okay. Thing about “proud” you’ve just made up for escalating.
      It’s impossible to be objective in music. Okay, tell me - music of Schoenberg is good or not? Anton Webern? Do you find it ingenius? Works of Ustvolakaya? May be Luigi Nono?I don’t compare them, but what starting point we should set? Singing of birds is music? What kind of music do you think is “good”? Generativness is a method first of all, algorithm can be an art. If you don’t enjoy it, just don’t listen, it’s easy.
