Durian doesn't taste like old gym socks, Dan. It's creamy & sweet like ice cream. And Mike how the heck do uno what poo taste like? Something you wanna share with us? 🙈😂

+Lynn Huynh Hahahahhaha same, I love durian especially the ones from Malaysia. The thing is that everyone's nose has its different way of smelling food (Don't know how to explain). But Dan was being too incredible "taste" like old gym socks lmao. At least durian is natural and it's a fruit compared to the ants yiks. Also there are different types of durian and it can also be expensive as well.

    • @averylfong4843
      @averylfong4843 8 ปีที่แล้ว

+Lynn H Haha if I recall the durian they ate looked horrible and old and the flesh weirdly shriveled and dry. :( The green shell also looked brown if I remember correctly. It was probably not durian season and was also affected due to age/while being shipped to the States. I can't imagine that durian tasting particularly good.
I'm not the biggest fan of durian either, and have never liked it much since I was a kid, but I can't deny that a really GOOD durian doesn't even taste "stinky", but are more "fragrant". Those are the kinds I actually enjoy eating, even though I usually eat 1 or 2 seeds/flesh and have enough.
So yeah if you're reading this and you've never tried GOOD durian that's ripe and soft/sweet/fragrant, fresh and in season - don't knock it till you're tried it! Durian ranges from bland and stinky to rich, creamy and sweet/custardy.
Also, durian products like freeze-dried durian, durian cakes or durian puffs/tarts don't really count and aren't like the real deal. They're almost always stinkier than a freshly opened fruit IMO!

+Bao Nguyen who hasn't when they were jung at least tried to play with their poo, before worried parents came to stop the exploration and research of said product. Its more strange not to know. If you cant remember you most likely just suppressed the memory subconsciously while growing up. Besides in some places there is plenty of dog/animal poo to step into, urgs.

There are different types of Balut!
What most people see are the more common 19-21 day eggs which have the feathers and beak.
What I recommend you guys try are the 15-17 day old eggs which have all the flavor with none of the feathers or beak.

most people who had durian and hated it probably had a unripe durian. Ripe durian is so sweet and creamy, it is basically like a sweet avocado. I love fish eyes too, no one told me to them when I was a kid. it was just something I discovered and fell in love. not the white solid part, just the geletto like part.

In 6th grade we were made to dissect a squid in our science class, and at the end of the day, one of the mothers dropped by to pick up the dissected squid parts and fried them up for us to eat. Needless to say no one ate them, some because it was squid, others (like me) because we saw so many students drop tentacles on the ground, smash them with their shoes and hand it in for cooking.

I've never tried it but they don't put the poo in the coffee, they put the beans that they picked from the poo into the coffee. Plus, they aren't cats anyway they're called 'luwak', they primarily (maybe only) eat coffee beans. I'm surprised there isn't an English word for them yet considering the popularity of the coffee.

Coffee addict here. I love coffee. Can't get through a day without drinking 4-5 cups. But, I agree with Mike. No matter how much you tell me, "Kopi Luwak is good. Try it." I'll refuse. I mean, the bean is eaten by a cat-like animal, then pooped out? Then I drink it? Hell nah.

Kopi Luwak/Kapeng Alamid is made from palm civet droppings. the civet picks and eats the best coffee bean but their stomach cant digest the beans so they poop it out whole. the coffee tastes good because the civets only eat the best coffee beans and the beans reacts with the civet's stomach acid. people clean the beans, and only roast and grind the beans. they dont just pick up the poop and dissolve it in hot water.
btw, where did you hear about the balut being used in science class? Im from the Philippines and I have only heard that on your video.

Cats are carnivores. They need meet to survive. You probably couldn't get a cat to eat coffee beans, and if so, the digestive tract would treat it completely different than that of a herbivore animal. Please don't try to force feed cats coffee because someone joked about it on youtube.

+Anna Banana Did you see the photo Mike and Dan put up for the cat poop coffee? I hope it's not creating a situation where those poor creatures are being captured and caged in tiny wired cages only to be force fed the coffee beans and nothing else. The animals need a balanced diet like every creature does. I see a lot of potential for abuse.

and for Luwak coffee, it's not just work for some cats, it's just from Luwak - cat like animal and stray cat maybe eat/digest all the beans, and In the next steps the coffee beans are washed, dried, pounded to remove the skin, sorted and finally roasted

Wow, I'm glad you guys mentioned the ants eating mango leaves! I eat bugs when possible, most of them are great, usually sort of nutty and crunchy, and very good once you get over your "ick"s. For instance, I find toasted meal worms taste a bit like bacon. But I'm allergic to mango leaves and skin, which contain the same oils as poison ivy. Guess I should skip those particular ants!
