    Billy, instead of cutting notches out of the door frame, just pull off the door frame on 1 side, then you can just nail it back on when you are finished and nothing is ruined.

    I have a suggestion, Billy. It looks like you might be able to remove wheels and possibly unbolt one or both of the fenders and then drag it through the doorways and then bolt them back on once outside again. If necessary, you could also throw the wheels back on for a bit to get it through the hallway.

    • @busterdee8228
      @busterdee8228 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Thinking the same. Some kind of dolly might fill in during the move. Or, drag it across on some beams covered with a 'slippery' tarp.

    • @busterdee8228
      @busterdee8228 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      @@dennispatrick4999 I think Billy mentioned that the terrain was managable with a tracked vehicle but unlikely to cooperate with a wheeled one.

    • @misamsung6191
      @misamsung6191 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Agreed, take the fenders off first to see if it clears the door frame. If it doesn't the wheels can come off and slide it across the floor on a couple of beams/wooden runners. Although I think I would use a hoist/winch to pull it through rather than the scissors lift

    • @Guvnor100
      @Guvnor100 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Surely it's better to set it up where it was and drag the timber individually through the hallway. The digger can move the timber piles near the door. Also you can put a skip or whatever to collect the chippings. Otherwise all your chippings will be in the garden.

    The roses need some more help.
    I worked in landscaping at Belmont University in Nashville Tennessee and I worked mostly with the roses.
    You need used coffee grounds
    Egg shells
    Tea leaves
    Mix In a gallon jug for 24 to 48 hours then water them.
    To prune them hold up your pointing finger that is the rose stem to where your finger nail is is the rose bud , the knuckle that is the 3 leaf stem
    The next stem has 5 leaves
    You want to prune in between the 3 and 5th leaves for healthy growth of the roses. Water 1 time a month with the mix.
    My roses are the size of big dessert plates. It helps. Have fun

    • @pernillemakholm645
      @pernillemakholm645 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree. The roses look hungry and like they need trimning. But no wonder. They must have been left to fend for themselves for years. ❤

  • @mudraspiritual.5366
    @mudraspiritual.5366 ปีที่แล้ว +42

    Billy, love your daily vlogs.
    one thing I noticed. Your Roses have very little leaves, thats because they need much more water. Another thing: if you want them to flower more then once a year, remove the faded roses (all of them) fertelize them again, give them plenty of water and they will flower again. You can do this around 3 times a year. (make sure you take away all the rosehip) Keep on vlogging!

    Billy may i make a suggestion? Always amend your soil before planting your expensive plants. Adding compost or aged manure will promote healthy growth, lusher flowering. Peat moss, perlite, many different products to improve the quality of you soil. Especially soil surrounded by cement, asphalt, other hard surfaces. From an old master gardener back in the day

    • @kristinb5121
      @kristinb5121 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It will also be easier for the new roots to get through the looser compost so they don’t form a ball similar to when a potted plant gets root-bound.

      I was thinking the same. Throw some fertilizer at those hydrangeas and it looks like it’s got a rust or black spot. Get some fungicide. Throw some rose food at those poor roses.

  • @aynholt
    @aynholt ปีที่แล้ว +12

    Just a thought.......consider placing cardboard around the roses and other plants and then place the wood chippings/mulch on top of the cardboard. This creates an instant weed barrier and you are amending your soil at the same time as it will decompose over the winter in time to do it again in the spring! I hate weeding and this has been a huge help in our gardens.

    Not knowing the building layout and what buildings back up to the garden, this suggestion may be nonsense. But, have you considered creating large enough opening in the back of one of the storage buildings enabling you to drive through these larger pieces of equipment? It would be like a double door barn or garage.

    Hi Billy, I always thought you should make the doorway wider and use it like a carriage pass thru. With it wider, you always have a way for your equipment to pass through the back (no more asking neighbors for help), and if you schedule events in the future, easier for venders or other types of equipment easy pass thru. Thanks for going back to daily vlogs, I really missed them. Take care!

    I just had a thought. Maybe it would be a good idea to put in a wider doorway at the front and in the back so that you can get things through like the wood chipper or other pieces of equipment easily. That would solve a lot of problems with getting Equipment into the back garden.😊

    • @jessicakoster2543
      @jessicakoster2543 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      That might work in the back, but if you go to 5:00 in the video, you can see there is no room in the front for bigger doors.
      You would have to cut a big slice out of the stonework and that would look awful.
      Plus, i think these big granite stones on either side of the doors have a structural purpose, removing parts of it might compromise the structural integrity.

    You're going to need a few blocks underneath that support maybe one chunky block accross horizontal to the doorway and two at a cross angle leading into the convent going right over the drain plus supporting blocks/bricks either side instead of halfway into the ditch, like you did at the end there. The whole point being that you keep it as flat and supported as possible before you get to that drain and supporting it as much as you can underneath the blocks leading into the convent, probably two people to guide it in if there are any available plus you dragging it through with that blue thing. You'll also need to unfortunately remove the door-frame I think. I've read that several times hoping it makes sense... I think I used too many words 😅

    I agree with CJM. Try taking the fenders off the chipper before cutting into the door frame. You won't need to put them back on because you are hauling it anywhere. You are doing an amazing job on the convent.

    I would open up both doors wide enough to get your transit through you could have nice stone arches and at the end of the day it's not as if you would be using it every day. PS failing that see about removing the wheels and mud guards it may go through then on rollers.

    Ok, I'll ask the question: Why not leave the chipper where it is and bring the brush out to the courtyard to chip. You;ll have to bring it out there after anyway.

    A suggestion for when you next prune your evergreens or anything else. Put a sheet of some sort down where you are pruning which will collect most of your cuttings and that saves much of the brushing up afterwards.

    You are doing an amazing reno. Hats off to ya. I understand that with all the original lands, there was access to the back garden, but that land is gone and not coming back. I don,t understand why you have not created a matching door in the back wall of the garage to be able to move equipment and waste through with little to no trouble instead of all the twisting, prying, squeezing and general back breaking you do trying to get through the convent doors. Needing access once, I can understand going through the convent doors, but the back garden is something that will need access forever. It,s time to work smarter not harder, Billy.

    I agree with CJM load the chipper onto a trolley or narrow pump truck, take off the wheels and any wide trim, pull it through.
    Also use the Adrega scissor lift to remove rubble from back to front by adding a builders bag to the cage, loading it up, driving it through, then lifting it enough to tip the rubble out into a skip or lorry.

    Those rose bushes are beautiful.they might need feeding to help with growth.that corner where the mountain was would look lovely with a patio and some retro type metal furniture.possibly a few of those pots filled with plants.
