    Edit: Ilja gets 5K a month for working on this gorgeous Rain Mod and He's also the one who gave us CSP which kept AC current in a huge amount of ways. He also damn near gives us almost weekly updates for CSP by constantly adding more features. Now that's dedication and love for his passion. The Patreon supporters show how amazing the community is behind AC, on top of showing that we want to keep this sim/game progressing well after the Kunos left it behind. CSP is one of the main reasons AC is still my most played sim.

    • @JoelAz909
      @JoelAz909 3 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      @@Ermz It's a HELL OF A LOT more than just a "rain mod". CSP is a whole overhaul of the physics and behaviors of the game and with the new (still experimental) "extended physics" there's a lot of new coming down the pike.
      Oh and that money every month, it's not really a reflection of what he DOES, it's a reflection of how many people he continues to make HAPPY.

      I always wondered how the mods are financed. Is it like Patreon-esque financed? Or do people have to pay to get the mod?

    • @JoelAz909
      @JoelAz909 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@drchtct Can't speak for every mod or modder but here's what I do know: Some do sell their mods for a fee (RSS, URD for example), many are free (hobby or passion projects, check assettodb.com or racedepartment.com for ex.), some have patreons et al.
      Phoenix77 (I think) who does LA Canyons (awesome, awesome track) for example, gives it for free but has a two levels of "premium" versions for sale that add functionality (basically the "freemium" model) but the free version certainly gets him exposure. He also has a few other tracks that are completely free (PCH comes to mind)
      Iliaj's work however is just way above and beyond simple "mods".
      His work on Content Manager is a total transformation for using AC and I'll never touch the AC vanilla UI again. CM is also "freemium" (actually more like "donationware") and CSP, as you can see, is an incredible transform of the game itself changing physics and weather and visuals and so much more than can be said here. Probably as much or more work as the original game development itself.

    • @d3tach3d
      @d3tach3d 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JoelAz909 Of yeah, I forgot he does all of CSP, that makes alot more sense and I wondered why his name sounded so familiar. Ive been using CSP for 3 years or so, maybe. CSP and CM were one of the main reasons I still play AC the most out of al my racing sim/games.

    In 2025: This tire mod in AC is better than rf2

    • @whysoslow1999
      @whysoslow1999 3 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      honestly i'd argue the tire model's capabilities are already better than rf2, but the problem is that theres only like 2 cars that take proper use of the amazing extra physics features that CSP adds, but have to be applied car-by-car, using good, real data (those cars are IER Simulations P13c and BK Studio R8 LMS)
      The FFB lacks that feel of the road surface, so while the physics feel great, the FFB doesnt feel so "rubber on ground" as rf2 no matter what you do with the physics.
      So maybe FFB rewrite soon? hahaha

      I don't know if it's a "no-no" to say this, but the handling of SOME cars in AC1 are still way better than SOME in AMS2 for me. I hope AMS2 guys get their shit together and focus on SIM aspect more than on the adding more content. For me, only about 1/4 or 1/3 cars are "drivable". Example: On straight, If I just touch a brake I'm pointing in a wrong direction.

    • @danieldonovan9755
      @danieldonovan9755 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alpha007org its tough, i think the strength of AC1 is its variety of cars and they all feel relatively good but there is 10-20 cars that feel amazing and then with modding you can double that number (not to mention all the tracks added by modders with awsome quality including laser scanned ones) but they are hard to come by with that level of quality, so i do think AMS2 needs more content especially now they are adding in real cars and some of them do feel amazing so i think they are on the right track as long as realism takes priority, but yes i agree completely that SOME cars in AC1 feel as good or better then the best cars in AMS2 and when you add in the variety of choice you have and moddability and the fact it can be made to look like this for me its the go too sim still for sure when i just wanna mess around and have a good experience

      @danieldonovan9755 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alpha007org Also im aware that AMS2 and Rfactor 2s physics models are superior and i do think they have superior force feedback but if you play around with all the settings in content manager you can get the wheel feel to 90% the feel and predictability of those sims which is impressive since the physics and tyre models are from a 2014 game, it think its as good as it gets for the way they go about simulating the physics, which just makes me excited for when a company like kunoz use a tyre model like rfactors with somthing like a full AC2 with the unbelievable modder support it will inevitably get

    AC is older than 2014, was in pre release for at least a year. I agree, AC and mods can be overwhelming for some and before you know it you have 500 different cars and over 100 tracks. But that is also the greatness, if you put a bit of work in, you get something amazing out. AC should only be used with Content Manager. PERIOD. Once you understand this, the world of possibilities open up. Plus no more loading screen and internal game menus. All bypassed. You can setup races to the nth degree. This make and skin in pos 1, this one in 2 etc. Mix and match to the exact car and skin. Just so cool. Then you add Sol and the weather addons are transformative to the game. Yes, you do still need a decent rig to push...but I only ever run it in VR. I can't race on a pancake, just lose so much time to VR racers who can look into turns and slides. I used to wonder how those guys ran 6:10 at Nords, then I got VR and improved 20 seconds over best lap in first session. VR is a game changer and AC supports it even though it was released prior to VR. Awesome. As for ACC, I thinks it feels ok, but just poorly optimized in VR. Whereas, Automobilista 2 can run a full 30 car field in VR with no issues on an few year old pc...and it looks beyond amazing. Feels great too. But AC is and will always be a go to, where else can you drive any car on any track in any combination together with great VR.

I don't download other people's filter and config etc it's much better to go through each value and set them because it blows my mind how little people actually configure w those tools. Kunos should hire/contract modders (especially Ilja) and use their own experience (and maybe even content) from ACC to create Assetto Corsa 2 on their own engine. Mod support, Weather system, Content Manager style UI, implemented community features like SRS races... They could even go with current simplified damage model and port cars straight from ACC if this would mean more refined multiplayer/AI and more content. I would love Assetto Corsa 2 as touring cars centric game. Imagine BTCC with this weather system...

    Ermín definitelly try to turn on water physics. Check CM - Settings - Content Manager - Drive - Allow to use patch cars data to activate extended physics - this has to be checked, then you will have the option in DRIVE menu to turn advanced physics on. Then try to play with settings in CSP - FFB TWEAKS menu, it will improve FFB to new level for some cars.

    to get wet weather physics you'll have to unpack the data of the specific car you'd like to drive in the wet and add a specific line like DEV EXTENTION or something and save the new data in CM. So obviously back up the original data before doing this, and no online because of the modified data, but it'd make a single player GT3 race like this VERY fun with the modified data on the cars. I wonder how the AI would handle it and how the handling compares to the feeling of wet weather driver in ACC, which is arguably the best out there with the hydroplaning physics

    Also SRS and WSS are integrated in the content manager, with a great variety of events and a very good competitive system. In overrall it is the best simulator, in ACC although it has perhaps the best physics model, the feeling does not convince me, rF2 has the best feeling and tire model, but the physics have many bugs, AC + CSP + SOL + SRS + WSS in my opinion is the best simulator without being the best in anything maybe now in the graphics haha, but the sensations are much better than in ACC and very similar to rF2
