Christmas home tour of the dining room and our tavern. How to make faux copper quail ornaments

- Prior to full Christmas home tour, I will be a sharing snippets of rooms, in our New England 1790 cape house, as I decorate them. Today I'm sharing two rooms that are almost done, the dining room and our tavern/laundry room, and a look at the kitchen tree with faux copper quail ornaments I made.

My heart was touched by Willow’s act of sharing her toys with fox. Everything room is magical. Your wreath is the most beautiful I’ve seen.
Your Dining room and Tavern turned out beautiful with your Christmas decor and sweet Willow is so precious to share her toys with the family.
I sure hope Santa is extra good to her this year.

The copper birds are lovely and are so charming with all the fruit and cookie cutters. What a sweet way to use regular kitchen items on your tree!

My mother taught me to wrap gifts and make my own bows, but I took my skill to a new level by watching my father. He wrapped a gift for my mother as I watched, and the corners and tucks were so even and crisp, I couldn't believe my eyes! He never did reveal how he learned to wrap gifts so perfectly, but I now know how he did it.

I love your fox tree. Really cute. (What a sweet gesture Willow made.) You know back in the day, the decorated trees that my parents had were nothing like today's trees. These days, anything goes. People are so creative with what they come up with.

Things are so festive. I'm wrapping all my gifts in red plaid paper this year. You are so clever with your crafts. I'm sitting here surrounded with Christmas decor and my creativity seems to be nonexistent today. So I'm turning into my inspiration ladies to give me some ideas. Hi Kathy! I'm on a quest to share touches of "New England" elegance and share things I read in old books, even though I love all things Williamsburg. I grew up seeing the Christmas decor during old house tours as a child before knowing what/where Williamsburg was. I have a few craft projects I hope to work on inspired by what I saw. Paper stars coming up that I make, after since seeing them on Martha Stewart's show way back when, but I saw them on some outdoor trees and decided to make them again and hopefully an ornament inspired by what I saw in the Printer's building.

I so love your tavern room and the fox tree, so thank your for sharing them again. I'm quite partial to foxes, horses, hounds and traditional equestrian motifs, so I always enjoy seeing them in your decor. How sweet of Willow to share her favorite toy and ball with the fox under the tree, too! Clever girl! I also love your quail ornaments. I adore quails (and pheasants), so I might have to try making some ornaments, too - thank you for that inspiration, as well. A few years ago, I had a very small flock of quail wander into my yard and under an evergreen tree one August, which was so unexpected and such a treat. I do have a small wooded area adjacent to my back yard, but I'd never seen quail in the area. They were delightful, but eventually wandered away, although not before I took several photos of their brief visit. So fun!
They are such a cute bird!
You could use a metallic copper colored sharpie around the edges of the birds to cover up the white. I find the metallic sharpie set to be useful for so many things.

The Christmas decorations are beautiful! I was going to suggest modge podge for the quail but it looks like your process worked just fine. You can practically modge podge over anything and get the shape/texture you want. It broke my heart to see that Willow left toys for the fox, I recently lost my standard poodle and she was the sweetest best friend anybody could have.

I love the chandelier crystals on your tree in your dining room. What a great idea! I am always on the hunt for the icicle ornaments. I love how they look on a tree.
It's something I've been doing since I was little. I used to love watching them catch the daylight then the Christmas tree lights.
The ambience of your home....it is enchanting, magical and inviting. It is what Christmas looks like to me. Love all your trees but I have to say that the dining room tree is my favorite.

Love the facade of your home and your diligence in keeping it colonial. Every room inside is a marvel-I could see men in powered wigs and embroidered waistcoats along with their “ladies” in flowing gowns made of sumptuous fabrics. You’ve hit the ball out of the park on this transformation Linda!

This particular one is fake fruit BECAUSE in the past I used real and it didn't last as long as I wanted.
Today is New Year's day, Christmas has passed all the gifts and meals over . Unfortunately I have COVID and find myself still watching Holiday decorating video's. What are we all going to do now that it's over ??? I'm really going to miss all the decorations and joyous occasions! Kind of funny I started off the season not really into it this year but once I put up the tree that old magic came back and I was IN all the way! Thank you Linda for all your wonderful videos!
