- Ride along with Officer Don Lewis on a hot summer day in St. Louis Park, Minneosta. Presented by the St. Louis Park Police Advisory Commission and Park TV. Officer Lewis issues several tickets and responds to calls including a stolen van, vehicle accident, and parking space road rage.
I like that, "have a better day!" good cop
I would like him to be my mentor, but unfortunately I'm in NYC lol.
Treating people the same way you'd like to be treated almost always makes folks feel more comfortable about you, even if you write them a ticket. Treating people in a courteous and approachable manner prevents a lot of hard feelings and arguments.
I find this much more enjoyable to watch instead of the Tv show Cops.
Nah watching units get stolen and people getting tased is much better than listening to a chick talkin bout a dude boning a girl with a few inches
It's nice to actually see that the police aren't just there to lock you up they really are here to help the community. There's a lot of good stuff they do too and this is a reflection of it
YES DEFENITLY
Emile! hahahaha
Nope. Definitely need Bad boys song when watching cops at work
Seems like an ideal career you know? Never a dull day as a police officer.
Seemslikeanidealcareeyouknow
Neveradulldayasapolice
Offler.
Thank you Officer Lewis, for proving to the public that there are still amazing police officers like yourself out there.
For some reason this was more entertaining than COPS. The real day to day of police work lol.
This is like the much more realistic version of the TV show COPS.A lot more.
Yeah except what planet is this show on where a cop stops to change a tire. California cops must really hate their job because I couldn't see them doing this in 1000 years.
MuffinMan0521
I guarantee you that he would not have helped if the camera was not there.
@Gary Brabbs can confirm. Over here in Texas you’ll see a lot of cops pulling over to help you change your tire without a camera man. Even in the loneliest roads.
I rode around with a cop once, we spent the day doing boring shit. First we drove around neighborhoods looking for blight ( Junk in yards ) Then we escorted a funeral procession, then we ate at a chinese restaurant, and we finished up the day by sitting on the side of a highway while he fell asleep listening to oldies music.
Abstract Place Lemme guess, small town Police or Highway patrol?
The Minasoooda accent is strong in this one
If all officers were like him the world would be a better place.
Even if we had more cops like him, that won't stop people from breaking the law.
Not just officers, but people in general.
Good cop. Well done. Great demeanor.
Agree
NOT DEALING WITH ASSHOLES WOULD CAUSE THE COP TO HAVE A GOOD DEMEANOR.
On Mars maybe.
@@tax905972 even if he did deal with an asshole he still needs to keep a good demeanor
Awesome work Officer. Lewis!
this cop is a good one. no troubles seen in him. an actual uplifting part of the force
I love the way he said he had the keys to the city, he said it to humbly
Officer Don "Hows it goin brother" Lewis....seems like a great guy, really inspiring and opens your eyes to how not every single cop is a "bad guy"
Shout out to all the brave folks in law enforcement!
Shoutoutoallthebravefolksinlaw
Enforcement!
Right I like this watching it 6 yrs later
He is a very nice and calm Police Officer. I can't wait until I'm older so I can go to college and become one!!
Agree
You don't have to go to college to become a police
isaiah owens good luck! I’m also planning on going to a few years of community college, and from there joining the police academy and then state patrol.
College isn't necessary
you don't need to go to a collage in most places but some places have the police academy in collage
He's a real nice guy.
Great cop. I have a lot of respect for him and his job, and it looks to me like he does it well.
Great guy. I pray that the Lord watches over you every day. Much love to y'all from Deltona, Florida. ♥🎈♥
I always wondered how exactly cops spend their days, and this video really gave me a broader undestanding. I love studying about emergency service personel in general.
carpark moment at 20min was super awesome. amazing lady recognised she was venting and apologised.. and amazing other lady who accepted.. and they hugged.. i teared up a little. humanity levelled up (and sometimes people genuinely don't notice you waiting for a spot.. not everyone is a carpark thief)
I love the added music when they hugged. 😂
This is what I like to see an officer being professional well done Officer Lewis
Be safe out there, still 5 years later;)
Very enjoyable video. I live in a town near St. Louis Park and it was cool seeing a more in depth view of my surrounding community. I think Officer Lewis is a good example of cops in this area. MN cops seem to be some of the most reasonable and fair officers in the nation. I think it helps that MN requires higher education and extensive training before cadets hit the streets. I've had nothing but pleasant and professional interactions with officers in my area. The "Minnesota nice" attitude this officer shows definitely goes a long way to make the community trust the police.
SenorKwanzaa so does Michigan
This comment didnt age well
higher education,? phd? for this career? nah. we look for proper temperament, disposition,[calm under stress} intuitive, intuition ,critical thinking, problem solver, integrity.
the semantics of computer work and protocol can be acquired at academy, but if you have 3 degrees and are lacking in some factors that I've laid out, you're not the right fit for employment as an officer.
Very informative! Thank you officer for this.
Now this is a true police department! Really great policing!
At first this video was going to be pointless but this is a perfect example of "don't judge a book by its cover" this officer is one of the very best I have ever seen. I commend you sir a million times for your natural ability to adapt and not let the "badge go to your head" in a perfect department every police officer would be as humble and level headed as this officer. Police officer of the year MR Don Lewis ladies and gents!!! :-) god bless you officer Lewis keep up the outstanding work
Damn. 6:30am-6:30pm. Lucky to have that kind of shift.
Batman lol strange that he was talking about 6:30 am to 6:30 at 6:30 in the video :P
Must be the weather up there because the people in that area area remarkably friendly and laid back. Basically not self absorbed pricks.
I know right? You go to Los Angeles or Miami and it's attitude from both sides. It's nice to know some places in America have people who aren't so far up their own asses.
Just don't take our last beer and you will be fine in Minnesota.
Eric Shoutout from AZ "That hot place"
True Eric but it goes deeper than that.
All are welcome up here!
Eric shut up eric. I'ma report your ass to your job in Edina
Outstanding!!!
dang police like him are so wholesome, thank you guys!
Very good camera work!
So much better than C.o.p.s because we get to see everything. Really well shot too!
this guy i like! does his job and does not abuse it! good stuff! thanks sir!
24:55 Love how Officer Lewis handled the situation.
Don Lewis you’re the kind of cop we need everywhere! Fair, and honest
Very nicely done video, Officer Lewis did a wonderful job of explaining things and how the Officers work, what they do and why they do it. The film accurately shows how there is a slow day once in a while and how things can get busy in a short time. I feel that this film is unique, in other words it's not a video that is chopped up over a period of days showing Officers responding to a constant flow of violent calls, fatal accidents, etc. that so many other films do, leaving the viewers with an inaccurate perception of what an Officers day is like. Again an excellent film that illustrates police work as it really is. Officer Lewis does a fine job in explaining how different shifts, i.e. day shift, afternoon shift and the all night shift are . Really there is quite a difference between the 3 shifts, having worked all 3 shifts in my 25 year career as a police officer I'm convinced the 3 different shifts are almost like 3 different jobs, really day shift is a lot of report writing from offences that occurred the night before and, say between 7pm and 5am is a period of each day that one may call "the action shift", for example bar fights, domestic fights, DUI's, breaking and entering (burglary) and serious auto accidents are more common say after dark, especially during periods of hot and humid nights. All in all I'd call this video a documentary that gives the public a realistic sample of police work. It's important to note that there are few, almost no problems stemming from poor race relations, the mainstream media surely leads us to believe poor race relations somehow are the root cause of most police calls and that the police pick on (profile) minorities, but in reality, as you see in the film that's simply not the case in a majority of cities and towns in America. Certainly in select cities race relations are a problem, but definitely not a problem as big as the TV networks would have us believe. If I was grading video's I'd have no hesitation giving it an "A" , nice work.
He said that was a slow day. It still seemed like things happened pretty frequently.
I wish we had vest coolers on missions in afghanistan, that would have been great lol.
Adam Anderson well thank you both for serving your countrys!
Lucky bastards lol
Why is everyone in Afghanistan? That place seems like it'll never find rest =/
Adam Anderson Yeah that's it! nice call genius not that whole Sunni Shiite fights and the religious turmoil! Nice! i wish i was as smart as you!
+CLYDE FROG That's pretty good, and thank you for your service.
this guy is super organized and professional
Thank you for your services and protecting us and our community. You are a hero.
U know. :). That is just :).
Really
Really :).
Cute :)
lol im always running cars with no plates (dealership) and we seriously forget sometimes
Thank you Officer Lewis! God Bless all men and women who risk their lives daily and stand between us and those who would do us harm.
I appreciate you Sir!!
Me too.
Dude said “Cop Shop” lmfao
This is really cool to see what it's like
Adam Andrews ya there's a lot of cool police ride along videos
this was just awesome! you should do many more of these!
i hope officer lewis is still doing well?!
greetings from germany
I really enjoyed this video! It's very interesting to get to see what the work of an officer is like. Certainly the best ride along video I've seen.
Very good ride along video, I enjoyed watching a real cop do his thing rather than virtual cops. (LSPDFR)
LOL LSPD FR!! The way you said it! I agree with you
Can't agree more!! love watching real ride alongs.
I can't stand watching virtual LSPDFR, it totally sucks and doesn't come close to showing what cops do. I watched a few minutes of it and almost blew chow. Many departments have ride along programs so citizens can ride in a real police car with a real officer, I know Cincinnati PD does it, you have to sign a waiver stating you can't sue the city if the shit hits the fan when your doing your ride along and you get injured somehow.
Ok, some Lspdfr are bad but some are trying to be as realistic as possible considering it’s still a game, I play it and try to be as good as I can to real life, but at the end of the day it’s a game no need to be rude
I did a "ride along" in person many years ago. Definitely an eye opener! So grateful for our LEOs!!!!!!1
Very interesting video! I found it very informative and fun to watch
This is a great video. I've always wanted to know the ins and outs of true cop work.
Good show 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I love how quick they are in decision-making and problem-solving
Just a great cop and a great guy. Fantastic work by both the department and the individual LEO.
St. Louis Park PD can be proud of an officer like that! These are the type of guys that make the image of the Police immensly!
What a great video, thanks for sharing! :)
Awesome video, thanks for upload
great video! awesome ending to the parking spot call
"Officer Lewis issues several tickets..." County Revenue Collector...
Thoroughly enjoyed the video and the officers demeanour and professionalism
This is the coolest of the cool😎
I love seeing all the stuff officers do prior to roll call, during roll call and after b4 going out on patrol.
Very cool video, thank you for posting!
I like how that lady tried to blame her bad behavior on that other couple because they took her spot and her lame excuse that she felt threatened lol
She was lucky she was a white lady
Why would you knowingly take someone’s parking spot that they were blinking their light already for? The lady was in the wrong but people need to be more respectful in the first fucking place
Nice to see a dedicated professional at work.
Great video thanks!
great video. after 8 years in the military this is where I want to keep my path. next year I'm finished and hopefully get into an acadamy
Many police departments add on 5% to 10% to Veterans test scores, to attract former military folks, after all police departments are quasi-military organizations and after 8 years in the military it's safe to say you're very familiar with weapons, you can follow orders, work as a team, cover each others butt and more...all qualities a police department needs in new officers. Hope you get the job you want, good luck and thanks for your service.
+Rusty Shackleford don't forget the hand to hand combat training that vets have
If you go to St. Louis Park they will murder a vet. Look up marine vet Jason Martin. They shot him point blank unarmed and off duty not in uniform then covered it up and skewed evidence.
@@rustyshackleford9115 Yeah, we dont need JUST those qualities.
After moving to MN from PA and becoming a Tow Op in the Twin Cities, I will say I’m thankful y’all have our backs! Definitely don’t see that back in PA! Hope and pray all emergency service personnel stay safe out there!
gotta say it again because i watch all of these different types of shows. real cops and real people!
Thank u officer Lewis. Nice video
Martin Scram rhjl
Nice, civilized interactions from and toward officers. Good work!!
Literally my hometown. Knew every single place he drove by. Very peaceful city. All the neighboring cities like Hopkins, Minnetonka and Hopkins as well. Actually pretty much all of MN is. Nostalgic cause I am currently in Chicago for school. Can't wait to go back
I love watching this stuff because if my first idea doesn’t work then I want to be a cop when I grow preferably a motorcycle cop and I have always wanted to be a cop when I grow up
You didn’t show how sirens work :(
this video was made nicely... Great job
I can't believe it !! WOW ! It's you LEWIS ! We meet each other in Shibuya (Tokyo-Japan) in a famous coffee shop !! Hahaha Such a lovely person ! Take care of yourself my friend ! :D
Very friendly and professional officer.
Great job you guys
overall great video! officer is very polite and i enjoyed watching it
So nice to see a POSITIVE police video for a change.
Awesome video.
I worked on the Excelsior Grand Bldg. I ran the gas and ac lines.
God damn what a good police officer! This guy is amazing.
Great video. Stay safe Office Lewis.
Awesome video
Its so weird seeing St Louis Park and pretty much all the areas ive been too. You even got my school in the video too lol.... Groves. I just wish the state would do something about the horrible state of the highways 100 and 169... Both are bad. But then again thats MN for ya due to winter....
He sees himself as a city employee how humble. Blessed.
Very nice to see content of this type which documents the mundane. Too bad the regular big-budget cop shows can't be bothered to do the same rather than going in for hype and sensationalism.
The more cops like him, the less crap we'd have to listen too on the news.
Not true let him put in a year in Chicago you'll see a difference trust me
Lol. You're probably right
Lol
That may be, Chicago is rough, we'd have to see how he conducts himself there before we decide he'd change. But he seems intelligent and informed so I don't know why he'd quit the good job he now has to go work in a hellhole !
they all are its the news thats the problem
Great show officer I'm an officer in a suburban city in Wisconsin for 20 years. We don't leave our 12 gage Remington or our M-4 Carbine in the squads. We take them out and unlock and unload them at the barrel. We take in and out our police bags as well. I work the 8 to 4 shift overlap. I hate working first shift. More action on overlap and 3rd shift! Keep safe fellow officer in blue!
St. Louis Park is actually one of the nicer areas around Minneapolis. I grew up towards the greater east side of St. Paul, and I've always liked the western side of Minneapolis more.
I'm simply loving the scene at 24:54!
Nice video and Terp 456 that is pretty cool!
Parabéns!!!!
Muito bom!
Great video
Thank all the excellent police.
well that was a fun ride along
That is one chill cop! Didn't harass anyone he dealt with!
What a nice police officer
This is kind of inspiring to me
