I couldn't agree much more. Just face it. Big cats (I. E. Lions, tigers, jaguars, leopards) are much quicker to attack than gorillas are, despite their big muscles. In fact, no matter what blows and kicks big cats get, it doesn't stop them; they keep going.
Honestly Mufasa and Kerchak are one of the most powerful animals on the planet. Sure they’re of different species(lion and gorilla) but the one thing they share is they’re respected fathers and will die trying to protect they’re families

I respect Kerchak's Heart and Courage, but Mufasa is just way to deadly, not to mention Kerchak had a very hard time taking on Sabor a female leopard weighing 172Ibs, he's going to have a even harder time taking on a 550Ib Male Lion Mufasa.

He might not have sharp claws but the main way gorillas fight is slamming and a male lion might not be fast enough to avoid a slam. And his fangs are just as sharp as mufasa's. Honestly, I am inclined to say that Kerchak will win. Mufasa would get tired very easily while Kerchak won't. Gorillas although they fight rarely they sped up to half an hour showing off by ripping branches and pounding the ground. Mufasa will simply not be able to keep up. All Kerchak needs is one good slam and mufasa's spine is gone.

I have always known Mufasa would win against Kerchak. He has been one of my favorite Disney fathers ever since I was a little boy. Aside from his unparalleled combat prowess, I have always admired Mufasa for his diplomacy, strong moral compass, and wisdom. Moreover, if Tarzan were to be raised by lions, he would be so blessed to have a very strong family with Mufasa being the upright patriarch, Sarabi being the nurturing matriarch, and Simba being his loving, caring older brother. I can only imagine Mufasa training Tarzan to not only fight like a lion, what with the sparring matches he would have in store with his older brother Simba and how he would train Tarzan to use his claws and fangs in the heat of battle, but also be there for his two sons every step of the way. Perhaps through Tarzan, Mufasa might be even able to see that Scar has been deceitful and would bite the heck out of him, thus aiding both Simba and Tarzan grow up to be the fine lions they intend to be with Sarabi also doing her part to make this well-established, close-knit family happy, proud, and great. :)

Hmmm.... You know I have been thinking about using her at some point. I do think there is a good argument to be made in her favor based on her training and abilities, but for some reason she mostly evaded that panther in the movie and failed to use her combat training to hold him off or at least attempt to subdue him. So, I question her combative effectiveness against a predator, especially one like Sabor. I do think it's possible for her to get a win, but it is debatable.

This is a good question that I wondered about for awhile. It's tricky since he didn't really fight him and the one fight scene I remember of Balto didn't give me much to work with, but I think I might be able to figure it out. I'm definitely going to make that one in the future.

Has to be Mufasa based on the Disney universe as Kerchack lost to a Leopard (plot armour for Tarzan). In terms of strength, and agility in real life. Silverback gorillas aren't to be messed with. They have unbelievable strength and break bones with brute force. Not to mention the Silverback has a powerful bite of it's own. In other words is would not only brutalize a leopard, it would also rip apart a lion, without a shadow of a doubt. Male Lions only battle for a "pride" to mate with the females and reproduce. So they're stamina won't be half as good as a female huntress. If there are two elder male Lions within a pride then it's either one of these scenarios. They're brothers, or have a close relationship. (As we know Mufasa and Scar are not actually brothers). This leaves the theory that Mufasa and Scar had invaded the previous pride and drove out the previous Alpha male.) - So Mufasa isn't as strong as what you might imagine. I digress this is not based off the Disneys universe silverback Vs lion scenario because IRL silverback takes it.

A gorilla punch is estimated to be around 1300 lbs to 2700 lbs. That can break a bone and the spine is very fragile. It will snap like a twig. The only chance Mufasa has is to bite since the ''striking'' will mildly injure Kerchak. Gorillas have tough skin and lots of fur. IRL lions clawing other lions does little damage. The only chance Mufasa has is to bite and that won't work well since Kerchak can just grab him. And yes one slam doesn't mean instant kill but it meant severe damage to the spine ribs and internal organs. Which will cause paralysis and eventually death. And if Kerchak lands a punch in the head that will easily knock anything out and even cause permanent brain damage. I know it's a cartoon but since we can't really face them against each other I go off to the animals in real life. And a gorilla for sure will pummel a lion. Also, gorillas are far tougher than lions. they are known to continue fighting and living after severe damage. Most lions when injured starve to death or die from an infection. Also, lion fights aren't as brutal as you thing. They are like a cat fight a bot of clawing a bit of biting and someone gives up. Apes are brutal when it comes to fighting. Their aim is to cripple the opponent. They bite off fingers and mutalate the opponent. This is best seen in chimps since they fight a lot more but gorillas do the same.
I believe Mufasa would win, too. Considering how Kerchak struggled against Sabor, he might have some difficulty with an even bigger cat like Mufasa. Sabor was much faster, but Mufasa was stronger. In a way, both Kerchak and Mufasa are like tankish fighters who could dish out punishment as well as take it. But Mufasa has the better constitution of the two in my eyes.
After analyzing the fight between sabir and kerchak i can be seen that kerchak was not fully paying attention to the fight until sabor cane back to attack after being thrown away from tarzan. Kerchak had his back turned and was out maneuvered by sabor. There is no scene in the lion king where mufasa is in full fighting mode. In my opinion him fighting the hyenas does not count because they tried to run rather than fight. In my opinion it could go either way depending on the circumstances that are taking place. Since both mufasa and kerchak are larger than the average gorilla/lion size doesn't really play into it that much. In my opinion it comea down to strength/stamina, location, and family interaction.
Yeah, that's why for both characters I decided not to limit their showings to just the films since both don't represent the full scope of their abilities. Mufasa himself is no stranger to a larger opponent and has experience dealing with a potentially stronger adversary. As a result, Mufasa would be better prepared more so than Kerchak in a random encounter.Although the Hyena's were try to escape, two of them managed to put up a fight and one of them actually bit him. This is significant because they possess a much higher bite force than lions. Based on the film, the Hyena's Mufasa beat were not the type you could knockout with a mere swipe of the paw since they were able to take his hits. So, his battle with the hyenas do count as they help to display his impressive endurance and ability to tackle multiple animals at once. As for Kerchak's fight with Sabor, even if he had been fully aware of her ambush, he still would have been outmaneuvered because she was faster and more agile. The biggest source of contention is the fact that she outmaneuvered Kerchak after he threw the leopard for a second time and was fully committed to attacking her. While they fought face to face she still managed to out flank him. This proves his reaction time compared to her agility is the real reason he lost. The fact that Sabor caught him off guard doesn't matter since he didn't suffer from any long term damage from her initial attack. What matters is how they fought face to face. Considering Kerchak's method of fighting, location would matter, but it wouldn't be a game changer in his favor. None of the fights that he was in shows him utilizing any possible advantage from the environment. With this in mind; Mufasa would be the undeniable winner.

I know I'm a bit late but just hear me out. I think Mufasa doesnt have that much of an advantage. 1 Mufasa is a full grown male lion(and he is a big one too) weighing above 200 kg. Kerchak is probably a western lowland silverback male weighing about 200 kg. As a male lion Mufasa relies on the females to hunt and is never shown to do so. In the film we see him fight 3 hyenas which are a third of his size trying to run away rather than fight. Kerchak fought another silverback someone his size. In nature there are male lios who kill hyenas with a swap of their paw or just a bite. Mufasa isn't as skilled as Kerchak. 2 Although Mufasa and Sabor are both cats Sabor s lighter than Mufasa and more agile. Also although a lion is faster 80km/h(top speed of a female) than the leopard(58km/h) the leopard has more durability. Sabor could easily sneak up and attack the gorillas but the lion would struggle to navigate through the thick forest due to his size. Gorillas can run with a spee 32.2-40.2km/h and can easily navigate through the forest also they are more durable. Lion fights last minutes. Mufasa would tire himself very fast while Kerchak can continuewith the fight. Although male gorilla rarely fight with each other they can spend up to two hours shaking trees running around and sometimes even breaking branches showing their dominance. Kerchak is also a skilled climber and can easily attack frm up the trees. When fighting Sabor he was consentrated in keeping everyone safe distracting the leopard. I think that Kerchak has a high possibility to win.

Kerchak on the other hand has less than stellar stamina compared to his real life counterpart as he was effectively spent after a brief skirmish with Sabor. Although Kerchak is a very skilled climber, he has never used this to his advantage in combat, preferring to approach them head on in an attempt to outmuscle his opponents.

Gorillas aren’t that weak, but I agree that anything like a lion or grizzly bear would be trouble for a gorilla. The only way a gorilla can kill a lion is if blunt force trauma is inflicted on the lions spine.
I personally think Kerchak would have won because if had time to grab Mufasa he could have broke Mufasa's back or I'd say they would have sized each other up and realize that they were both equals and just left each other alone and went back to there respected families
A friend of mine said something similar to that, but the issue comes into play when you look at his performance against Sabor who is faster than him and how she had him at her mercy. Mufasa being faster than her, stronger, and more durable, adds a whole different height of problems for Kerchak to overcome, but I do agree that they would consider each other as equals if they ever just met.

Leopards can run 35-36mph compared to a lion's 50mph. Yeah, Kerchak definitely had the strength advantage, but his endurance was another weak point for him as well.
Wrong mufasa isn't running a marathon to win and a lion can't move like a jaguar the gorilla would have no trouble breaking the lions back or jaws lions take one buffalo down in groups. And the cant fight back like a gorilla can. Plus. Kurchak was quick enough to catch the jaguar wen he first appears and attacks tarzan

I can only imagine Mufasa training Tarzan to not only fight like a lion, what with the sparring matches he would have in store with his older brother Simba and how he would train Tarzan to use his claws and fangs in the heat of battle, but also be there for his two sons every step of the way. Perhaps through Tarzan, Mufasa might be even able to see that Scar has been deceitful and would bite the heck out of him, thus aiding both Simba and Tarzan grow up to be the fine lions they intend to be with Sarabi also doing her part to make this well-established, close-knit family happy, proud, and great. :)

Hmmm.... You know I have been thinking about using her at some point. I do think there is a good argument to be made in her favor based on her training and abilities, but for some reason she mostly evaded that panther in the movie and failed to use her combat training to hold him off or at least attempt to subdue him. So, I question her combative effectiveness against a predator, especially one like Sabor. I do think it's possible for her to get a win, but it is debatable.

They have unbelievable strength and break bones with brute force. Not to mention the Silverback has a powerful bite of it's own. In other words is would not only brutalize a leopard, it would also rip apart a lion, without a shadow of a doubt.
Male Lions only battle for a "pride" to mate with the females and reproduce. So they're stamina won't be half as good as a female huntress. If there are two elder male Lions within a pride then it's either one of these scenarios. They're brothers, or have a close relationship. (As we know Mufasa and Scar are not actually brothers). This leaves the theory that Mufasa and Scar had invaded the previous pride and drove out the previous Alpha male.) - So Mufasa isn't as strong as what you might imagine.

A gorilla punch is estimated to be around 1300 lbs to 2700 lbs. That can break a bone and the spine is very fragile. It will snap like a twig. The only chance Mufasa has is to bite since the ''striking'' will mildly injure Kerchak. Gorillas have tough skin and lots of fur. IRL lions clawing other lions does little damage. The only chance Mufasa has is to bite and that won't work well since Kerchak can just grab him. And yes one slam doesn't mean instant kill but it meant severe damage to the spine ribs and internal organs. Which will cause paralysis and eventually death. And if Kerchak lands a punch in the head that will easily knock anything out and even cause permanent brain damage. I believe Mufasa would win, too. Considering how Kerchak struggled against Sabor, he might have some difficulty with an even bigger cat like Mufasa. Sabor was much faster, but Mufasa was stronger. In a way, both Kerchak and Mufasa are like tankish fighters who could dish out punishment as well as take it. But Mufasa has the better constitution of the two in my eyes.

After analyzing the fight between sabir and kerchak i can be seen that kerchak was not fully paying attention to the fight until sabor cane back to attack after being thrown away from tarzan. Kerchak had his back turned and was out maneuvered by sabor. There is no scene in the lion king where mufasa is in full fighting mode. In my opinion him fighting the hyenas does not count because they tried to run rather than fight. In my opinion it could go either way depending on the circumstances that are taking place. Since both mufasa and kerchak are larger than the average gorilla/lion size doesn't really play into it that much. In my opinion it comea down to strength/stamina, location, and family interaction.
Yeah, that's why for both characters I decided not to limit their showings to just the films since both don't represent the full scope of their abilities. Mufasa himself is no stranger to a larger opponent and has experience dealing with a potentially stronger adversary. As a result, Mufasa would be better prepared more so than Kerchak in a random encounter.Although the Hyena's were try to escape, two of them managed to put up a fight and one of them actually bit him. This is significant because they possess a much higher bite force than lions. Based on the film, the Hyena's Mufasa beat were not the type you could knockout with a mere swipe of the paw since they were able to take his hits. So, his battle with the hyenas do count as they help to display his impressive endurance and ability to tackle multiple animals at once. As for Kerchak's fight with Sabor, even if he had been fully aware of her ambush, he still would have been outmaneuvered because she was faster and more agile. The biggest source of contention is the fact that she outmaneuvered Kerchak after he threw the leopard for a second time and was fully committed to attacking her. While they fought face to face she still managed to out flank him. This proves his reaction time compared to her agility is the real reason he lost. The fact that Sabor caught him off guard doesn't matter since he didn't suffer from any long term damage from her initial attack. What matters is how they fought face to face. Considering Kerchak's method of fighting, location would matter, but it wouldn't be a game changer in his favor. None of the fights that he was in shows him utilizing any possible advantage from the environment. With this in mind; Mufasa would be the undeniable winner.

I know I'm a bit late but just hear me out. I think Mufasa doesnt have that much of an advantage.
1 Mufasa is a full grown male lion(and he is a big one too) weighing above 200 kg. Kerchak is probably a western lowland silverback male weighing about 200 kg. As a male lion Mufasa relies on the females to hunt and is never shown to do so. In the film we see him fight 3 hyenas which are a third of his size trying to run away rather than fight. Kerchak fought another silverback someone his size. In nature there are male lios who kill hyenas with a swap of their paw or just a bite. Mufasa isn't as skilled as Kerchak.
2 Although Mufasa and Sabor are both cats Sabor s lighter than Mufasa and more agile. Also although a lion is faster 80km/h(top speed of a female) than the leopard(58km/h) the leopard has more durability. Sabor could easily sneak up and attack the gorillas but the lion would struggle to navigate through the thick forest due to his size. Gorillas can run with a spee 32.2-40.2km/h and can easily navigate through the forest also they are more durable. Lion fights last minutes. Mufasa would tire himself very fast while Kerchak can continuewith the fight. Although male gorilla rarely fight with each other they can spend up to two hours shaking trees running around and sometimes even breaking branches showing their dominance. Kerchak is also a skilled climber and can easily attack frm up the trees. When fighting Sabor he was consentrated in keeping everyone safe distracting the leopard. I think that Kerchak has a high possibility to win.
When I first analyzed the fight I was a bit more inclined to give Kerchak an advantage in combat, however; Mufasa does have experience against larger opponents, which is a lesser known fact of the character, and at the time was the best known fighter in the film. The lion was able to sustain a higher degree of damage compared to Kerchak and Sabor. While Sabor is more agile than Mufasa, the same cannot be said of Kerchak. Mufasa managed to dodge a herd of wildebeest as they ran in his direction. Since Mufasa isn't held by the same constraints as a normal lion, his stamina is higher than average, so he wouldn't tire out as fast as one would assume. Kerchak on the other hand has less than stellar stamina compared to his real life counterpart as he was effectively spent after a brief skirmish with Sabor. Although Kerchak is a very skilled climber, he has never used this to his advantage in combat, preferring to approach them head on in an attempt to outmuscle his opponents.

Gorillas aren’t that weak, but I agree that anything like a lion or grizzly bear would be trouble for a gorilla. The only way a gorilla can kill a lion is if blunt force trauma is inflicted on the lions spine.
I personally think Kerchak would have won because if had time to grab Mufasa he could have broke Mufasa's back or I'd say they would have sized each other up and realize that they were both equals and just left each other alone and went back to there respected families
A friend of mine said something similar to that, but the issue comes into play when you look at his performance against Sabor who is faster than him and how she had him at her mercy. Mufasa being faster than her, stronger, and more durable, adds a whole different height of problems for Kerchak to overcome, but I do agree that they would consider each other as equals if they ever just met.
