  • As a technical sales engineer, you are typically selling complex solutions that require some background of technical knowledge or information. When you're preparing to talk with a potential client, should you focus on the technical information or the sales process?

    In this video, I walk through my 80/20 rule that all technical sales engineers should follow. Too often, technical sales engineers are only focusing on going over the technical data and how it can solve their problems while they should be focusing on finding an actual solution for the potential customer.
    By transitioning the conversation around asking questions about the top problems someone is facing and then creating a solution that solves that specific problem, it's more of a "sales" conversation process. You don't need to dive deep into the technical data right away, but wait for the right moment and the right people to make them feel comfortable with the solution you're presenting.

      @@SonGoku-zr9nc no, I don't have. But I make sure that I don't start my job without any knowledge. I bought books and took courses in udemy to equip myself. Also watched TH-cam videos like this.

      Hi, Jean. I am also an Engineer (ChE specifically) here in the Philippines. I am entertaining the possibility of going into Sales as a Sales Engineer. Can you tell me your experience so far? Is there a wide financial advantage over traditional engineer jobs? Thank you.

    should introverts go for sale or not?

    • @KyleMilan
      @KyleMilan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Sudip - I don't think it matters if your introverted or not, most people are introverted naturally. As long as you can be extroverted at times when needed, that's all that matters.
      Society puts people into boxes too frequently telling them what they can/can't or should/shouldn't do. Don't listen to any of that. Just look at the situation and decide if you're comfortable with it or not.
      I hope that helps!
