  • This job is a little tricky and not like the old days when things were just bolt on bolt off. Here I'm working on a 2006 Chrysler Town and Country minivan but these instructions cover many different cars.

    Great video, no nonsense, clear instructions and easy to see what's going on. Guitar music is also a nice touch. I appreciate giving cost info too on diy vs shop. Thanks a bunch.

      Thanks Victor.... This was a very cold day and the last thing I wanted to do but it had to get done. I figured I'd set the camera up and help the peeps save themselves some money and we got it done.
      I'm glad I could help.
      Peace

    An air ratchet would reduce your repair time, thanks for the video.
    I worked on vehicles at used car lot for many years.

      Yeah - and I have a top shelf compressor but no air tools. I just never invested in them and keep saying I'm not doing this crap anymore.... but I always wind up back at it. LOL

    So I just followed this tutorial and had this done in 1/2 hour! On my radiator, the clips were in the top bracket that wasn't used. I moved them to the other location on the radiator. I only paid $100 for the radiator on Amazon that had great reviews. Saved between $500 to $600 doing this myself with your help. Thanks again brother!

    I picked up a denso radiator off rockatuo for $155 and jusy finished installing today. I made sure to wake up early as the high was going to be 90 today. My cross member on the left side didn't slide down into the hole. I can't even push it down. It looks even, not like one side is higher than the other. I even made sure nothing was preventing it from moving down all the way on the right side, as the rubber piece on that side didn't go into it's hole at the bottom. I'll have to see what's up with that. I came back to check this video to make sure I did everything right 😂 I appreciate the video though. Easily the best one out there on how to replace the radiator.

    Thank you for doing this video. I followed your instruction, and my radiator came right out. Well she gave a little fight. But nothing to bad. Lol. I had to order a new radiator. Ups says it should be in today. But thank you again you took a lot of stress off my shoulders.

    This video is helpful. We have this model van and we may use this video as reference to replace our own radiator to save ourselves money. Thank you again. Thank you for the instructional video.

      The problem with heating and cooling issues is: they get worse when we ignore them. Overheating causes havoc inside an engine.
      I don't think you'll have any problems with replacing the radiator - the difficult part to replace on this car is the water-pump and I have a video on that too.... if you ever need it.
      Peace!

    The shop quoted my mom $850 for a radiator replacement. No doubt i'm doing it, as someone who wrenches on my jeep all the time. Question though, do you recommend or suggest i stay away from any radiator brands? Looking at Mopar but also looking at some alternatives. Thank you bro.

    • @JohnDisque
      @JohnDisque  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well it's debatable. If you ask me... they all do the same thing but some people have brand loyalty and don't mind paying a little more. BEHR is one of the more consistent names on the market but frankly I haven't used every brand so I'm under-qualified to answer accurately.
      That price ($850) is a blatant rip off if we're talking about the same car. You should get out for right around $200. ($160 for the radiator and then the anti-freeze).
      Good luck with it.

    What do you use to pinch the tabs together to separate the condenser from the radiator and do you pinch from the top and bottom or from left and right side

    • @JohnDisque
      @JohnDisque  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This question is answered in the video. They're squeezed together top and bottom and you can do it with your fingers.

    Haha I've been a DYIer all of my 63 yrs. last year I finally broke down and bought two magnetic trays so I didn't have to fish nuts and bolts out of places I dropped them. I agree this is one place that the rule, parts is parts does not apply ,compare the old to the new. Lastly you seem to have a mighty fast right hand, only two ways to get that, playing guitar and ......... Tell me your a good guitar player..

    • @JohnDisque
      @JohnDisque  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Life is hard in the DIY world. We buy things we never know if we're going to use everyday or once every 30 years.
      The engineers at Chrysler on doing crack. That I am certain. I'm just not sure why that's MY problem and not thier problem.
      As for my right hand - we do what we have to do.
      My life was spent doing a lot of damage and not caring much about it because I was the next Eric Clapton and my lawyers would get me out of all of it. What a damn idiot I was.
      I'm a great guitar player...., but if you can't sing, and I can't sing.... you have to release control..... to the star.... (the vocalist). The singers I HAVE MET are also the biggest dipshit, ego-maniacs I ever met and I wasn't willing to play Monkeys songs for chumps in sport-bars........ so I wound up here.
      But I kind-a like it here.... so... whatever that's worth... there it is.
      The minivan is running great so I am happy.
      Cheers.

    Plastic has been the downfall of the automobile industry since they are engineered to wear out!

    • @JohnDisque
      @JohnDisque  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah... I agree. It's definitely one thing. Going digital is also another issue and you better have a computer science degree to fix a simple dashboard gauge. Then they started manufacturing cars to make them impossible for the do-it-yourselfer to fix and only they could fix them and now the big one. --- If you're selling a newer (10 years old or less) car everyone wants to see a CarFax showing a record of every single repair and maintenance issue by a professional. Changing your own oil works against you because they won't even look at your box of receipts - you can't maintain the value of the car without the dealer doing it for $180 and showing it on Carfax.
      It's evil and ruthless.
      But - have a great weekend.
