I put vinegar into the 'bleach' and 'softener' dispensers on my wash cycles. I also use baking soda in the wash, with my environmentally safe laundry detergent. I don't need to use softener at all, and the laundry smells fresh without added scents.
Instead of putting the lavender oil in the dryer, try it in the wash. I have been using vinegar in the wash for about three years now. It takes care of the worst dirty, disgusting work clothes my husband can come up with and makes them sweat smelling by killing the germs that cause the stink in the first place. I also put 5 drops of lavender essential oil in with the laundry detergent. This will help prevent any mold or mildew from growing inside the washer. I saw your video and loved it.
I’ve been using distilled water vinegar and wool dryer balls for about a month now. Here are my thoughts. The vinegar does a great job getting odors out. The wool balls seem to do well with static, although I live in Florida so static really isn’t a problem. As far as softness, no way. My clothes and towels are so rough and scratchy feeling now. I think I’m going to go back to softer. I’ll use less of it and maybe alternate with the vinegar, but I really do miss my soft laundry.
Softener on towels has the opposite effect lol it's gonna repel water , towels are meant for drying and absorbing water , you're gonna defeat their purpose. Also look up what softener does to your washing machine
To get rid of odors baking soda works great. Just a 1/4 cup or less, depending on size of load. I even use the old box of baking soda from the fridge and freezer in my laundry. I thought my clothes would smell like a stale refrigerator. I tried it on a few loads and it worked perfectly. No wasting things around my house! 😉😀 Your towels may seem scratchy because the biluild up of softeners and detergents are stripped from the laundry when you use vinegar. Likely, may have noticed your towels are more absorbent without softener build up. You might try washing and drying a few loads with softeners. Then, alternate with vinegar once a month to keep absorbency in your towels.
I also double rinse to get detergent out of the laundry. I use less than half of what the detergent directions tell us to use, too. Tide is very sudsy and difficult to rinse out. Especially, thejr high efficiency (Hė) products.
I use vinegar and baking soda dissolved in warm water with rag. I wring out the rag and wipe out the inside of my dryer. It helps to wipe out the residue of dryer sheets and freshens the dryer.
Most micro fiber fabrics come with a label saying not to use fabric softener with micro fabric cloths; with good detergent you don’t need fabric softener or vinegar. Rolled up balls of aluminum foil in a small laundry bag will replace fabric softener in drier. Adding Borax and baking soda (the one for washing, not the one for cooking), and of course Oxiclean works fine too.
I think white vinegar and some lavender pure oil and some pure tea tree oil works for me in the washing machine. And once in a while I do add some baking soda. I do use name brand laundry detergent one tablespoon for small loads and 2 tablespoon for large loads of laundry. Too much of anything can damage your washing machine. Never use liquid fabric softener because it will build up in your washing machine and cause it to brake and that goes for your dryer with the softener sheets and the chemicals in it is unhealthy for you and the environment. Look it up. The person who came to fix my washing machine told me this. I like my wooly ball and i add some lavender pure oil and some pure tea tree oil with some witch hazel and water to a 8 oz glass spray bottle and i spray two or three sprays to one ball and place in the dryer with my clothing just love it.
HELP! I went to brunch last week and did not realize the booth I sat in had JELLY on it. I had a brand new pair of ivory colored Hugo Boss linen/denim jeans on. I pre washed with Oxiclean and it bleached the spot white! How can I even out the fabric without ruining them?😭 it’s painful to ruin something so expensive
@@AndreaJean sis how is that an idea… they’re stating that they’ve been told that vinegar isn’t good for a washing machine, and instead they use fabric softener. your response has no context
I am also sensitive to wool and would be concerned using them. I found rubbery dryer balls years ago & use those instead. I think I ordered them from a catalog like Carol Wright or one of those type catalogs.
I had an allergic reaction when I used the wool dryer balls (Got mine from Trader Joe’s). I had no idea it would cause a reaction because I have never had an issue with wool before!

What do dryer balls do?
@@resigningstars they work wonders. Fluff your garments and also no harsh chemicals for starters. 👌🏽
Does it make it smell bad?

Noo mixing bleach and vinegar creates potentially lethal chlorine gas.
Why in the bleach dispenser too?
I haven't used fabric softener in over a decade. I love my wool dryer balls yet my hubby still likes to use good old dryer sheets.
Husbands are so hard to train aren’t they

Lavender oil only kills e coli and MRSA
Always put a clean DRY towel in the dryer when you put in a new load. It will reduce the time to dry that load significantly!

I have a HomeLabs portable washer. Can I add vinegar to clean my drum? I’m afraid I will ruin the washer & the seals/pump/hoses?

For the towels or clothes that smell and half a cup of vinegar in the softener dispenser, do you also add in detergent as per usual at the same time?
I know it's late but I've heard you use vinegar during the rinse cycle
Super Gr8 tip 👍🏼
Thanks Elizabeth!!!
Never use fabric softeners of Any kind with Micro-fiber items! It ruins the texture & absorbency!😬🤦♀️
Thanks
I love using vinegar on my clothes
Yes!!!!
Does it make you smell like vinegar if you sweat?
@@zalroj92 not at all. It also takes the other odors out of the fabric that get trapped in even after washing.

Yes you can
Essential oils don't stain clothes in the dryer?
That's what I was thinking.
Nope!
Can you do it with 100% silk pillow cases??
I wouldn’t…. I would treat them as delicates 👍
