    She just wanted to induce him into talking negatively about China, this is what the interview intended for, when he started to question the west hypocrisy, especially about the treatment of Assange, she was dead angry! I am embarrassed for her, bad journalism!

      Ai weiwei's father today is still the most famous poet in China. he's familly is Han nation. Uyghur camp? Maybe it's true. But his father born in Zhejiang, lived in Shanghai. His father will be shame for his words.

      @@hyoo5309 he didn't say his father was in Uyghur camp. He said his father was sent to Xinjiang for 20 years. That probably happened in the days of Mao when intellectuals were sent to the countryside during the cultural revolution. Uyghur camps didn't even exist then.

    Julian Assange was a huge trigger, wow. Quite interesting how this lady reacts to merely the mention of the name of a person who is considered a moral paria within her world construct. To the point she completely rejects Ai Wei Wei’s point even though he just mentions him as an example. Kind of disturbing and also quite typical behaviour.

    • @idomaghic
      @idomaghic 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean, his point was incorrect; we definitely need more reporters that properly question their interviewees rather than just accept whatever is said as facts. The one triggered was in this case clearly the interviewee, and nothing else.

    When he says his security guards were also prisoners like him, one can understand why he is deservedly a champion of human rights. He has seen both sides and understands what is true freedom. The bird in a cage analogy is spot on. This is human nature.

    It's all fun and games for the media as long as they agree with everything they say against others.
    When it turns around at the end you see them squirming and not go into the conversation in a constructive way.

    The whole Assange thing - is a bit embarrassing for people who are virtue signallers but need to keep their jobs - ironic how her response pretty much exemplified Western hypocrisy that was the central theme of Weiwei's narrative.

    Thanks for revealing the name of his book which I've been reading in recent days. I wonder if Ms. Barnett has read it, because it does not seem the case during this interview in which she appears to be punching way above her weight, by having a pointless brawl with a man of the calibre of AiWeiWei. It was a missed opportunity to let the world know more about his extraordinary life.

    To find out the relation to the own father - one of the most difficult tasks in a human life. The last six years my father sinds he has overcome his kidney cancer (now at the age of 89) he makes my breakfast nearly every morning (a muesli with hazelnuts, brazil nuts, walnuts, cashew nuts, oat flakes, many spices such as ginger, coriander, turmeric, bee pollen, yoghurt, linseed oil). This act towards me is pure love. Such a gift is worth more than any poem. And though I am the painter in the family I think that my father is an even more brave artist (from my com-museum, book 46)

      For sure. She lied about Julian Assange. The false charges against him in Sweden did not expire as she. They were dropped by the prosecutor on November 19 2019. What she was referring to were 3 other false charges that were of much lesser degree back in 2015. The serious charge against him was dropped on November 19 2019.

    Ai Wei Wei is an cultural icon, his contributions to the human condition speak for itself, he has endured imprisonment by his own government for expressing his beliefs against a repressive regime, I found this interviewer extremely tactless and disrespectful to a person that has dedicated their life to betterment of equality, we must all look inward at what we project to the world, leave the ego at the door next time you interview an icon!

      Alternatively, a basic class in politics that outlines the nature of a 'political situation' would dispel the notion that any aspect of life can be completely separated from politics. Or, I suppose that would just be (to paraphrase kex969) 'a class of giving someone else definition of what politics is'..........
