James Lee is a blessing to us all. Also Adobe has been in freefall I think for quite some time but no one really stepped up or been there all this time without just being noticed until recently.

I tried Adobe products once. After like- a month, I dumped their asses. It didn’t improve my work, it just added a bigger price tag to it. Ran right back to Sony Vegas when I realized that.

James Lee should be a teacher to teach us how to be a profession animator and Linux usage. His video is what I've been replaying 10 times more yesterday, very astonishing and breathtakingly!

Fun fact: The standard for compositing used to be Shake, by a company called NothingReal. Shake was node based. Their biggest competitors at the time were Silicon Grail with Rayz, and Eyeon with Fusion, both also node based (not counting discreet logic and Quantel stuff, which was also node based, but had ridiculous price tags and was turnkey). Apple then bought both NothingReal and Silicon Grail - and shut them both down. So Apple basically killed node based compositors for a while. Eyeon was still around but relatively niche, and they were ultimately bought by Blackmagic Design. Resolve's compositor is Fusion. But the vacuum Apple left by canning Shake was really filled by Foundry with Nuke, which is now the standard compositing suite for movie productions, and Nuke is basically a modern version of Shake. Node based compositing isn't new, it's been the standard for Hollywood productions for decades. After Effects' layer based approach has always been hobbyist/ prosumer tech. But that market is huge, so Adobe is cool with it. Adobe doesn't do high end, they are a prosumer company.

Makari: "I'm not used to James talking so calmly."
Three minutes later... James: "IT'S UP TO YOU NOW TO STAND UP AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! TAKE ACTION NOW!"
Makari: "James please! You're spitting in my face, please!... I understand I'm a corporate shill!" T-T

As someone who works in IT, I know all too well the feeling of helplessness that comes from not being free to change tools according to your needs, often for marketing reasons that shouldn't even interfere in the lives of the average user. And this is made worse by the fact that not every software user is a technology enthusiast and has the ease to adapt to a completely different workflow.
Changing ecosystems is something that demands time, patience and, above all, resources, since many people use this ecosystem to work and the slightest change represents minor gains. And this becomes even more frustrating when we feel like we're being held hostage by software that only they can deliver with acceptable synergy. Personally, I see Adobe and Microsoft as a Nestlé of life, where we know the company is harmful, but it is so entangled in the industry that trying to break away from it means losses for many people.

unfortunately its something that needs to be done. we simply can't afford to let this continue forward anymore. when I get my new pc I fully intend to use linux to the best of my ability and anything else I can find that isn't these big companies that show they just don't care (if you don't care then I won't stay).

@@davidmccall4024 When you do, please do give Linux Mint a go - preferably with Cinnamon desktop. It's a classic, feels kinda like Win XP, but much 'cleaner' - especially it uses flat UI, grouped into tabs, instead of like 7 levels of child windows like Win XP did (and MS Windows does in general - where the hell do the people get the impression that it's "simpler" and "easier to learn" than Linux...!?).
And yes, if something doesn't work, you might need to do some config editing / tuning (usually not patching up and compiling sources) - but you know what? The thing is, you can actually do it yourself, with a bit of research online. You're not limited to hacking the God damn registry or using some shady 3rd party tools - or just shrugging and accepting the good ol' "it is what it is". That's the beauty of it 🙂
So, God speed and I hope you enjoy the ride - not as an act of protest against the 'big tech' or other corpo shit, but because it's genuinely better after putting in some initial effort 👍

adobe is a long time that is not hollywood standard anymore, the new standard for some time now it nuke studio, I know nuke studio but the only thing keeping me from using it, is that in nuke you have a node base system and timeline system combined into each other and for that nuke doesn't let you nest sequences inside each other, but recently I'm tempted to edit a whole video on nuke just for the sake of it

I don't know if you've seen the video before you reacted but I didn't like that you talked over him a lot. Gives the feeling that you're not really listenting to what he's saying and REACTING but rather just talking over him to get your own points across.
And after 20 minutes when he hasn't talked about adobe for 5 minutes and explains that he wants to get rid of windows you still talk like he's just talking about adobe.... All in all it just feels like you're not really listening to him.
Just my 2 cents on a channel I just discovered (yours)
