The skilets tend to become smooth and non-stick with usage...so whether unseasoned or pre-seasoned doesn't matter much.. I have been using unseasoned cast iron skillet and am very comfortable...once seasoned pproperly it works superb

The price between the two has a huge difference whereas the result of the cooking is same! Then its better to buy our Indian skillet from sikkendar. You are getting preseasoned skillet from sikkendar for rs.550/ whereas Lodge is charging rs.2,500! for the same quality skillet!! The more it is heavier, can expect a longer durability

During initial use avoid currys especially those with tomatoes... use it for deep frying, making rot, roasting etc.. wait until the pan is well seasoned before you prepare curries.. I havent used this brand.. if the preseasoning is not satisfactory you can reseason it by immersing it in rice water for a day, take it out, clean, dry on stove and apply oil.. saute some onion until black and discard it.. seasoning is complete and you can use the pan.. use it very often..

The problem I am facing with the cast iron is that it get heat up fast in the middle and heat doesn't get distributed evenly. Should the cast iron tawa be more heavy for it to get roasted evenly ? Having just used this skillet for the first time, th-cam.com/users/postUgkxIst1DRMCWM6dgd9VjXMFXlH4HeElE6Mc to batter-fry some macaroni & cheese, I'm absolutely in love with it. The foldaway design means it actually fits in my very small kitchen, but it also makes everything crazy simple to clean. While the instructions say you should not deep fry in this, you can, but do it with your best judgment; in my case the oil didn't even reach the halfway mark. It's hard to see in the pictures, but the skillet itself has a lip in the corner. This allows steam to get out during cooking if the lid is on (so don't try to steam rice in it), and makes pouring out used oil extremely easy.Cleanup was a dream. After detaching the plug and control circuit, the unit is just three separate pieces: The skillet itself, the lid, and the base which may or may not need any cleaning at all (usually just the handles). Compared to a dedicated deep fryer I purchased in the past, where the heating element was suspended in the oil and everything was difficult to clean, the difference was amazing.I'm definitely looking forward to using this for more things in the future.

Why can't Indian companies come out with refined state of the art cast iron cookwares. Indian is the country where metal work at one time was the best in the world. What is stopping us now? All lodge has done is make is more refined and preseasoned the untensils for their customers. And boom!

Sikandar Stores are also making Pre-seasoned ones. dont know when she purchased this Skillet. In my Opinion, the Sikandar stores skillet is good enough in Comparison with US made skillets. Similar cooking times observed and also its very less cost compared to Lodge brands.

Ms. L. My thoughts exactly! Indian mentality is “Sab kuch chalta hai”. Having more than 10-12 Lodge pieces has been a game changer for me & made something so mundane as cooking more delightful & adventurous & I actually look forward to cooking & trying out newer things in these beautifully crafted over 100+ year old brand.
Lodge is actually cheap but we end up paying more for the duties & taxes. Luckily for me I got all my lodge on amazon at great discounts & at prices at par with on the lodge website.
If I’m going to be using something for the rest of my life, I’d go for Lodge compared to poorly crafted Indian brands.
Besides, having seen lots of videos of Lodge foundry, one is assured there’s no lead in their cookwear & with the Indian mentality to cut corners, I’d forever be in doubt about what is going on in my food & stomach of my family.
For me it’s Lodge all the way. A brand that in this day & age of cut throat competition & corporate system has survived for over a century & still keeps their products affordable & treats its employees like family (many generations have continued to work for Lodge), etc speaks of high quality & very high integrity IMHO.
I didn’t mind paying a few 100 more for the beautifully finished pieces of art. They look great when served directly on the table. I’d not serve in the Indian poorly finished pans & pots. Sad as it is to write this, but the truth is Indians MUST do away with this laissez fair attitude of chalta hai etc & have more refined sense & aspiration for perfection in every aspect of life.
Lodge sportsman grill is an absolute delight to cook in the garden & have very rustic authentic food & flavors when baajra & jawar & even wheat rotis are cooked.

Check this out where lodge finish is called out as not perfect th-cam.com/video/5gA4Nueeq-g/w-d-xo.html
I think it's fare to say so long as the product can be used to satisfaction within the affordability range one should go for it
Like hand finished products & machine finished differences there is likely to be differences in the machines used by then for a minor fleck I think Indian makers can't be dumped

To think of our our earlier generations used dosa tawas kadais roti tawas so many metal vessels mostly hand made and were great ....lasts generations I m using 5th generation of kadai !! But ofcourse it's not induction compatible but no one will ever say fire cooked is bad but like microwave is now being told not good some day induction may not be good too let's not be surprised if it happens
Here, lodge & sikkandar stores are like whether I want to or can afford Manish Malhotra/Sabyasachi designer wear tailor made or the just the material I buy & made by my tailor.
