  • Todd Haynes’s Carol (2015) tracks the coming-into-focus of Therese and the woman she loves through her twofold romantic and artistic awakening. This coming-into-focus is also a calling-into-focus of cinematic ways of looking that attend to socially marginalized individuals with open-minded compassion.

I've watched "Carol" a dozen times at least, and you still pointed out things I'd missed or hadn't considered. You gave me a lot to ponder. And great timing for me, as I'll be watching it soon again as my own personal annual Christmas movie. 😏 Thanks for your insights!

Amazing movie full of intense and beaitiful feelings. Both Rooney and Cate were amazing. The deserved the oscar for this, in my opinion. And the fact that neither Tod nor the movie were nominated it's acomplete nonsense. Anyway, I still haven't red a bad coment about the movie so...

7:49 I have glued my eyeball to my 720p file of Carol and gone frame by frame. I can't see the boy having Down's Syndrome. How do you know the character has Down's Syndrome, or did the actor playing that boy have Down's Syndrome?

So what was in the telegram, who sent it and how did they know where to reach Carol?

Carol left her gloves in the department store where Therese was working. She had just given her address to have a train set sent to her for her daughter for Christmas so Therese sent them back. Carol called the store to thank her and offered to take her to dinner
