    Please correct me if I'm mistaken, but I believe the antennae complex ONLY refers to the accessory pigments and not the whole photosystem (1:55).
    quote: "The light-harvesting complex (or antenna complex) is an array of protein and chlorophyll molecules embedded in the thylakoid membrane of plants, which transfer light energy to one chlorophyll a molecule at the reaction center of a photosystem"

    • @chikunikkubrand

      Exam Time yaa u are partially correct ...The Lhc are made up of hundreds of pigment molecule and each photosystem has all the pigments (except ***one **molecule of chl a ) forming light harvesting sys called anntena molecule .... that means rest chl a mol. Are included in anntena mol..
      Hope it helps .

      I believe you are correct. To quote the NCERT book, "Each photosystem has all the pigments (except one molecule of chlorophyll a) forming a light harvesting system also called antennae."

    mam the maximum absorption takes place in blue and red light . the wavelength of red light is 680nm and that of blue is 450nm, but we got photosystem 1 of 700nm and photosystem 2 of 680nm so it absorb the light of wavelength between 680-700nm but what for blue light is there any photosystems for blue light

    • @tyarakeena
      @tyarakeena 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      please do correct me if i am wrong. i believe chlorophyll a is meant to absorb RED light (since it only absorbs wavelengths of 680nm and 700nm) however, there are other components that absorb different colours of light in the photosystems. a component called chlorophyll b absorbs ORANGE and BLUE light. meanwhile, another component called the carotenoid components absorb BLUE-GREEN light.
      so to answer your question, technically both existing photosystems absorb all colours *including blue*, but excluding green (which is why plants exude the colour green). hope this helps!

    • @kushsharma6987
      @kushsharma6987 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      tyara keena That explains it. But it may not be correct. According Engelmann's experiments, chlorophyll a shows maximum absorption in both the red and blue regions of white light. Even I don't know the correct answer. Please share if you could think of something.
