For all of us insomniatic engineering students out there perusing the youtublies, I just want to say something a friend of mine told me recently. He said it's okay to have questions, that it's not always bad to be conflicted within. Ya see, without questions, we never find the answers. Without conflicts, there are no resolutions. God wants us to be honest about the strife in our hearts and to ask for help when we need it. It shows that we trust him with more than we did before. It also strengthens our existing resolve. Godspeed you guys, and God bless Switchfoot for encouraging college kids like me.
I will NEVER forget the first time I saw Switchfoot. It was in Midland, Texas. It was stupid hot but that didn’t slow down the audience. The band took the stage just after dark. When this song began, a young boy in his dad’s shoulders was summoned to walk closer to the security barrier so Jim Foreman while standing no more than 24” away sang directly to the boy face to face. Talk about making a HUGE impact on a vulnerable young life at a critical time! I was stage right as my son’s band (39 Thoughts) was the feature band of the three day event. I watched with tears in my eyes. Tears for the boy. Tears for the father. Tears of appreciation for Jon & rest of the band, stage crew and audience. All standing as a spotlight of hope in this dark world we live in. Epic. ❤

A very good friend of mine passed away unexpectedly yesterday-he had a heart attack and fell down stairs breaking his neck. This song was my introduction to the band Switchfoot back in September 2011 when it played on Klove. I looked it up and wondered, "what kind of band is named 'Switchfoot!?' They must be crazy!!!" But then I started listening and researching them more and more, and soon I became a huge fam. Switchfoot has the most catchy and most thought provoking music ever. And the craziest sense of humor without cursing and or violence. I thank God for letting me discover Switchfoot. I hope I see them someday.

To me, it describes the desperation of a human to live, rooted into reality. The hope of humanity to find peace and prosper for a greater good. The conscious of our Brains. Oh, how I love Switchfoot, but especially this song "speaks to my heart". I can barely make it through the lyric "pushing through the ceiling, 'til the final healing" without breaking down in tears! AND, "Hello Hurricane" has been stuck in my cars C/D player for 1 1/2 yrs. and so I have to rely on KLOVE to play this for me...but I always will want to hear it over and over again! Love it!!!

I'm not Christian. I don't care about who created us or what did. I don't care for Religion. But this song, this band, this kind of music is something beautiful. To me, it describes the desperation of a human to live, rooted into reality. The hope of humanity to find peace and prosper for a greater good. The conscious of our Brains. To the consequences of being alive while knowing the inevitable sacrifice towards the end of our last breathe. I'm just proud to be alive and well.
