Carolyn, I am sitting in Gypsy on a cold, rainy Texas day watching your PCT hike. I didn't know about you until this summer, so there is a lot of video I haven't seen. I found myself clapping and yelling "yay' out loud when you crossed the Bridge of the Gods and said you couldn't quit now. I didn't look ahead, made sure I didn't see how many videos were left and had no idea which choice you'd make, I am so excited you decided to continue.

Carolyn had same problem of roof leaking. In my situation the roof was cracking all over the place.
I first used flex seal. Worked for about 3 months. I went to home depot and as luck would have it or as I like to think God sent. There was a young man that used to work at a rv repair place. He explained to me a fsr superior product was Henry's roof repair. It was similar to dicour and I've had to repair 2 places since then and that was because of the Texas heat. That was 2 yrs ago.
Best of luck with roof and yes along the roof edge I applied it also. I went crazy with it.
    Henry's is also self leveling.

Spoke too soon I have a leak over the bathroom vent. It's not the vent it's the exhaust vent.
The second one is the driver's side back in bedroom.
We'll have rain and storms all week.
So it'll be a few days before I can get on the roof.

@@1sthawkfeathers547 I do agree about the devil or his imps to get us frustrated however at 66 I've had the devil trying his best to destroy my sanity.
Once you figure out how he operates then he has no hold on you.
To the tarp I've had 2 or 3 and the wind destroyed them. I've got another available but I expect to have the roof fixed in the time it takes to affix it to the roof.

I am so sorry Carolyn that your roof is still leaking... If that were me I would have been crying out of frustration. So glad you have a positive attitude because I believe you can fix anything. That campsite was beautiful but the story of the lost town is rather sad. We have several lost towns in Massachusetts that were taken over by the Quabbin Reservoir... Only one small section of one lost town called Dana is accessible by foot down an old road by foot only. We took our bicycles down that road many years ago and explored Dana town and it was both interesting and very sad, you could tell it was a beautiful little place in the woods. The story of Quabbin is quite interesting and very very sad that so many people lost their homes. I highly recommend looking it up. Wonderful video. Safe travels. 👍👍👍👍👍😊

I had a roof leak in my house for two years. It became a hobby for me, then it morphed into an obsession over time. I'd think I had it fixed, so I would patch and paint the ceiling, did this twice and right after, more water would come in. I finally bought two cans of Flex Seal spray and soaked the areas I had been working on forever. Guess what? no leaks for two years so far. So, this memory came back with your videos and I felt your rain-pain. I know you'll keep at it and get it fixed, and you will feel like you own the world. Hang in there, we're all pulling for you.

  • @mikepulido3518
    @mikepulido3518 2 ปีที่แล้ว

to properly seal all leaks one must cut out scrape all cracked surfaces and clean that area of dirt then caulk all cracks with some durable silicon no matter the size of the crack then apply your sealant over the caulked areas since you used flex seal and it cures into a very waxy or slippery finish you can't use anything else to fix it will not stick or grab so you must use flex seal again

Your problem is the type of sealant you are using. Winnebago uses a silicone based sealant and Dicor and Flex seal won't bond to the old sealant. You need to take all that off and use Henerys 100% Silicone roof sealant which you can buy at Home Depot to seal over any original Winnebago sealant.

Get some self leveling caulk in wallmart in the RV section. It took 6 tube for my 23ft camper. Srub every thing with a wire brush to loosen anything loose and then the caulk but it has to be self leveling. That's what the RV used when they built it. It works for years. I am a 63 year old woman and it took me 2 days to do mine. I hope to run into you some day on the RV caravan adventure. It's hard doing it all by yourself. God, I love your determination! I recommended your channel to my brother who is also having problems with a leaky roof on his TT. So, following! And I loved your walkabout with Sadie. I was there once. Stayed two weeks in a COE located on a tributary of Lake Ouachita, Crystal Springs Recreation Area - directly across from Buckville where you were camped. Absolutely beautiful hiking - and it was Spring, so the weather was nice and everything was blooming. No cell signal, unless I drove a couple of miles further uphill to a rock and mineral dig site. But it had almost everything else, including a vault toilet and maintained sites. The site I chose was on a tree-canopied creek, from which I hauled crystal clear water for bathing and filtering for cooking and drinking. I'm looking forward to visiting other campgrounds in both Ouachita and Ozark National Forests.

🐶 Sadie looked happy in her walks with you Carolyn. I am glad your ending in Arkansas has been safe and really restful. Although the minor setback seems horrible, it might lead to new findings and innovative ideas. Don’t give up. The history of the area is mixed, split between old land disputes, bad tempered neighbors, a war that split families. Lucky for you the rain came to help your next moving decision. Be safe and be careful.

Karl, no that’s not what I meant. I was wishing Carolyn time spent in Arkansas as it came to an end, to have safe journey to her next destination. Therefore her time was ending in Arkansas. You should read it again.

You said your batteries not working out .
You should Really look into getting lithium i know they cost more but for you using them everyday can't see how you could go wrong .
We bought a camper and they battery it came with is almost useless.
We like dry camping and it was dead everyday just running minimal things .
We bought 3 Sok 206 ah batteries and man it's crazy power now . We went 4 days running coffee maker microwave watching movies anything we wanted and never got the generator out. We do have a 200 watt portable solar panel.

If that wood looking thing, I'm aware of is society or club a type of insurance company, if it's same company it is still around
. I had a friend who had all kinds of knick knacks with that name on it. I don't know if they still make headstones like that though. Because of the money not because of not the desire to. It'd be nice if one of those tombstone people that like to clean Stone tombstones could find that place and go wash them off. It's awful to have a tombstone it says unknown. But that doesn't mean somebody still didn't mourn for you.

Hi Carolyn, great video beautiful scenery!
Please get the roof looked at by professionals, if the roof has been leaking for a while there could be dangerous mould growing in the roof and maybe the walls. Both of you live & sleep in there, you could be breathing in deadly mould spores. So please for the sake of your health & your dogs health have it looked at very soon. It’s not worth taking the risk and having major health issues down the road. Take care.

That's what I was thinking. It's all good and well to do things yourself (and it's cheaper), but there comes a point where you've got to suck it up and fork out the cash to have a professional look at and fix it!

My experience has been that water seeks its own level. By that I mean it will find the smallest hole and end up somewhere else in the rig. Each time I recaulk I use a different color..
