One of Black Sabbath 's trademarks was so many transitions in each song. And they were so talented. Bill Ward is one of the best drummers in the business. So under rated.
Being a drummer, may I suggest that you react to War Pigs Live in Paris 1970. Bill Ward is an absolute beast on that song, the entire show really. He personifies power and precision
Got to love Sabbath, the band that basically created metal music. It's kind of mad to think if Tony Iommi didn't have that accident in a sheet metal plant we wouldn't have that power chord heavy, big riff style of playing. Some great suggestions in the comments already but do add Children of the Grave to the list.
This is really Geezer Butler’s song. It’s so tight but riffy, almost that Jameson Motown vibe. At this point, they were freakin groovin w most of their songs
For me, the most wonderful thing about Sabbath, each musician is a soloist during their instrumental sections. You need to hear it multiple times to get what each of them is doing, they don't stick to a riff, lick, groove or rhythm across the bars.
One of my favorite tracks from them. Saw them play it live in 2016 and about lost my shit. And they have some very bluesy music. Just a heavier blues that I enjoy.
JB touched on something to think about but in a different context. The Beatles The comparison is appropriate because both bands were English and in the same era Similar to the Beatles, Sabbath was something like nobody has ever heard at the time they came out. The pop/rock space was so vanilla at the time- Both bands inspired just about everything that you know today where pop rock and most modern music except orchestral, country/western, or gospel. There is jazz influence plus blues, soul, and Other rock of the day- the muffled guitar between Page, Hendrix , Townsend, and Iommi is largely the body of work that defines the ubiquitous distorted guitars of today. The drumming, similarly- with the same bands- is What created the drums of today- Also many of those musicians worked to innovate the sound using hardware because it was all they had. Some made their own effects compared to now where are lost in an ocean of presets and plug ins Sometimes it takes framing it in the right context to enjoy not only the song itself but the larger picture of what it represents generationally to the music of today
Black Sabbath recorded their first album in 1969 and released it at the beginning of 1970. Their guitar player iommi was the first guitarist to detune his guitar to drop d. And then metal was started
The song is them having a go at skinheads who would disrupt their gigs in pubs and local halls in the 1970s because they only wanted to hear reggae and what Sabbath were doing was too extreme for them musically, being that heavy metal didn't exist before them so it was challenging. Plus they looked like hippies with long hair and mustaches. Sabbath were working class lads from a rough city, so they were ready to defend themselves, and calling them fairies like "wot?"
The guys in the band were definitely influenced by not only the Blues, but also R&B and Soul growing up in Birmingham. A lot of their songs have an underlying funkiness to it. This album in particular has some straight up crunchy slabs of funky gunk. Check out the song suite of Behind the Wall of Sleep into NIB. You will not be disappointed.
geezer butler slays on the bass on this track... well every track... but the sound on this one especially. Iommi, the guitarist, isnt too bad considering he had the tips of two fingers on his fret hand lopped off in a factory accident.
They didn't become the screamin' demons until later when it became fashionable. Their first four albums (or so) are different than later material. I appreciate the honesty in your reviews.
Welcome back Charlie. I hope your tribe is doing well. PRAYERS4U. I LIKE SABBATH because they are a base group. Like flour rice chicken beef or fish. You start with them. So many have copied since the 60s. Great songs, transitions and Strong blues melody. They were different and experimental and emotional. They established their comfort chords so they have songs that sound the same like Deftones... It's their classic sound. JB... I want you to listen to a Black Sabbath cover... War Pigs! cover by/ Faith no More. I know you've heard L.A. Woman by the Doors Charlie ... I need to hear your opinion on Nine Inch Nails Downward Spiral
Bill ward is one of the most under rated drummers . but if you want good black sabbath pic ANY song. They were influenced by the blues muddy waters and such. And every song will have a different flavor. Try hand of doom.
I really like this collaboration..having two different views is how it should be...you both feed of each other well. My opinion of Black Sabbath varies and I believe this song might be the wrong option for reaction, it's a great tune but...not their best. Sweet Leaf and also Snowblind are two absolute classics, I think if you already haven't done a reaction to either of them...then the choice is yours. Enjoy and you are welcome.
"Man that's a long ass intro...." 😂 Immediately made me think of Dream Theater.... I'd like to humbly request a reaction to either of 2 long ass songs with a long ass intro... "A Change Of Seasons", or "In The Presence Of Enemies" (Part 1 AND 2 for the full effect of Enemies) If you never react to them, no worries, I'll keep watching!!!
Y'all just don't get what the song is about. Psychedelic, the heaviest. You know why he saw faries wearing boots, with his own two eyes? Because he looked through a window 🪟. Not the car window. A windowpane influenced vision. The doctor in the song knew exactly what was going on. Ozzy had finally gone too far. Hopes this clears things up for you.
Not a fan of Black Sabbath? Just say you never really listened to them bruh. It’s obvious by your commentary you don’t know them and there is no shame in that. We all gotta start somewhere.
forget this channel you spit on legendary classic pieces by spitting on the essential sequential nature of music and stopping it which completely disrespects it it was not meant to be listened to this way like looking at a masterful painting in a great museum only 1/8 of the painting at a time = RIDULOUS
One of Black Sabbath 's trademarks was so many transitions in each song. And they were so talented. Bill Ward is one of the best drummers in the business. So under rated.
Bill Ward is no joke so much power.
So many Sabbath classics. War Pigs cannot be ignored. Well you can but life would be poorer for it. Really enjoying your content gentlemen 🤘🏻
Being a drummer, may I suggest that you react to War Pigs Live in Paris 1970. Bill Ward is an absolute beast on that song, the entire show really. He personifies power and precision
Damn that Paris show was unbelievable he was brutal on the drums.
Early Sabbath definitely has blues/r&b influences. Hand of Doom has some really groovy bass that sounds like some modern hip hop.
Black Sabbath has a hundred different sounds and grooves. Keep giving them a listen every once in a while and you'll find the one for you.
The album Paranoid was recorded at Regent Sound Studios and Island Studios in London, England in June 1970.
Hand of doom is amazing. Give it a try
Paranoid is monumental s moment in rock music s history.52 years later and still rock music searching a band like Black Sabbath
The godfathers of metal. So many great songs. I appreciate how open-minded you fellas are. We need more of that shit in the world. Subbed.
Black Sabbath originally started off as a blues band called " EARTH " . They were very much into Hendrix , CREAM , Clapton etc.
Hand of doom, this song will hook anyone to Black Sabbath.

CHARLIE'S BACK!! Good Shit Bro.
War Pigs is a perfect piece of art!
One of my favorite tracks from them. Saw them play it live in 2016 and about lost my shit. And they have some very bluesy music. Just a heavier blues that I enjoy.
How’d I miss this? You guys are the best reaction channel on TH-cam!
Thank you jacob. My favorite sabbath song.
we recorded this last year for patreon Charles still isn't back unfortunately people 😔
P.S.- Black Sabbath- "Snowblind"
I remember reading somewhere, Geezer Butler (the bassist) was quoted saying "Sabbath was just a heavy blues band".
JB touched on something to think about but in a different context.
The Beatles
The comparison is appropriate because both bands were English and in the same era

Black Sabbath - Symptom of the Universe
So pumped for this song.
Glad y’all are both back…:)
National Acrobat
For whom the bell tolls by Metallica is what you are hearing in the solo I would guess
The goats of heavy blues metal
The song is them having a go at skinheads who would disrupt their gigs in pubs and local halls in the 1970s because they only wanted to hear reggae and what Sabbath were doing was too extreme for them musically, being that heavy metal didn't exist before them so it was challenging. please react to Black Sabbath Megalomania another great and very different track by them they have so many different styles pure class
Listen to the song - Black Sabbath, the into is nasty, and the song is my favourite sabbath song - so dark and heavy.
You will not be disappointed.
thanks guys awesome oldie Sweetleaf is also a classic Sabbath song to check out
you guys should check out some of The Doors tracks
geezer butler slays on the bass on this track... well every track... but the sound on this one especially. Iommi, the guitarist, isnt too bad considering he had the tips of two fingers on his fret hand lopped off in a factory accident.
Geezer is absolutely going off.
Great call brothers!
They gotta listen to HAND OF DOOM!!! Black sabbath was such a talented band
They didn't become the screamin' demons until later when it became fashionable. Their first four albums (or so) are different than later material. I appreciate the honesty in your reviews.
I would really like to see you guys react to Black Sabbath's "Snow Blind"
Dig the honesty!
Ozzy is 19 years old in black sabbath
My favorite song by them. This and "Iron Man are on the same album. If you want to hear my favorite riff from them, try "Sabbath, Bloody, Sabbath".
you gotta try and put this into the context of the time it was released to appreciate the musical choices they were making.
Welcome back Charlie. I hope your tribe is doing well. PRAYERS4U. I LIKE SABBATH because they are a base group.

JB... I want you to listen to a Black Sabbath cover... War Pigs! cover by/ Faith no More.
I know you've heard
L.A. Woman by the Doors
Charlie ... I need to hear your opinion on Nine Inch Nails Downward Spiral

When guitar was king!
Black Sabbath created heavy.
Hand of doom, war pigs, the wizard
This song is from the same album as Iron Man, so it makes sense it reminds you of it, sonically.
Ha! If that song was 10 years younger there'd probably be a harmony in there.
Hell yeah 🤘🏽I recommend y’all give Rat Salad a listen too
I think if you listen Black Sabbath - Planet Caravan you will be more surprised haha
Gotta do war pigs
"Man that's a long ass intro...." 😂 Immediately made me think of Dream Theater.... I'd like to humbly request a reaction to either of 2 long ass songs with a long ass intro... "A Change Of Seasons", or "In The Presence Of Enemies" (Part 1 AND 2 for the full effect of Enemies)

I’d like to make a request I think you guys will like
“No Quarter” or “When the Levee breaks” from Led Zeppelin
Or
“Roundabout” by Yes.
❤️
"Cause smoking and tripping is all that you do..."
It's not a good song for get knowing the band but this is a hell of a sound when you feel it, you won't find nothing like this anywhere.
Classic example of people deciding they don't like a band based a load of assumptions. Everyone's done it 🤣
It's the real charlie??? Woohoo. Much love yall
Got this one from the archives, so he ain't bk yet , he'll be bk soon tho
@@marylandstationmusic9422 oh man. Stay well. Bless
If you like Groovy try Black Sabbath Hand of Doom.
Hand of doom
I don't someone that doesn't like Black Sabbath.
Y'all just don't get what the song is about. Psychedelic, the heaviest. You know why he saw faries wearing boots, with his own two eyes? Because he looked through a window 🪟. Not the car window. Black Sabbath-Heaven and hell.
You’ll earn a sub
Toni Iommi, the guitarist is left handed, just like Jimmy Hendrix....
Do snowblind
Seriously under valued Sabbath track! A fav of mine lol
Dude, you gotta get into 60's and 70's rock. All of it has soul, bar none. Grand Funk Railroad. Thank me later.
Pleaaseeeee react to you've seen the butcher by deftones. They're most sex of sex metal songs they've done. Right up your street you'll love it
try stevie ray vaughan for real guitar
Not a fan of Black Sabbath? Just say you never really listened to them bruh. It’s obvious by your commentary you don’t know them and there is no shame in that. We all gotta start somewhere.
pause is tooooo long it ruins both context and continuity RUINS IT THE LONGER THE PAUSE AND INANE TALK
ok I'm out, with your analysis of black sabbath is way, way off, comparing it to " swing music" "WTF"
Sabbath bloody Sabbath is a good one. 2nd half of that song has one of the dirtiest licks ever played
forget this channel you spit on legendary classic pieces by spitting on the essential sequential nature of music and stopping it which completely disrespects it it was not meant to be listened to this way like looking at a masterful painting in a great museum only 1/8 of the painting at a time = RIDULOUS
Not my fav song. Check out war pigs or NIT sorry NIB
