@@coling657 well my favorite slow song is No Leaf Clover or Unforgiven 3, but fast-paced I consider All Nightmare Long their best but Blackened for sure is SICK. NO arguments

James Hetfield's right hand is a drum kit on a guitar, best rhythm guitar player ever!!! If you wanna see this song live, Mexico city 2009 is wicked...
It’s unbelievable, isn’t it? The fact that he’s the greatest rhythm guitarist of all time (in my opinion) and still so humble is a testament to his character. Legend.
WOW! Metallica has been one of my favorite bands since I can remember. James Hetfield has so much talent, as does every Metallica band member. As usual, great job on the reaction.
Your head motion there was spot on 👌you are now officially ready to expierence a metallica gig. Do so with pride as you will become family 🤝. Release all your energy and feel totally safe and right at home
This song was based on Rob Trujillo's riff. He was playing around with his Flamenco guitar playing style, and James really liked it, so they build this song from Rob's riff.
Lars and James have credit on EVERY Metallica track. If you watch behind the scenes stuff while they’re working and constructing the songs, Lars is pivotal to the direction and final out come of the songs feeling and composition. Another thing that amplifies the drum sound is James’ playing style. He’s known to have the best right hand in the business and is a riff-master, who almost chugs out riffs like he’s playing drums on the guitar. This entire album is so underrated, even by Metallica fans. It’s definitely one of my favorite albums in their discography.
That riff is only possible cause James is the best rhythm guitarist in the world and I cracked up laughing cause after that 2nd solo, I always wanted to just throw and break something just for the hell of it too 🤣
Awesome reaction bro! The next song I highly suggest from this album is “The Day That Never Comes”. Trust me that’s another epic song you should check out
Most times I don’t recommend the video version for a first reaction, but some songs can be forgiven like this one. Also, wicked game, nothing compares to you, e.g. lol.
so kirk was never credited for writing the solos of every song until now? jason was never credited for his bass parts when he was with them? kinda fucked if true
@@ECxTheMaster That's not what that means. In fact, it does mean that they were credited for their parts, just more generally. It was just noted that the lyrics specifically were written by James. But every other band member is credited for the entire song, subsequently meaning for their contributions.

I could listen to this on repeat 24/7/365 and never tire of it. Also check out Unforgiven III off that album, Fade To Black live in Lincoln, NE in 2018 (I was there. The whole show is kick ass and is on TH-cam). Hero Of The Day and the Covid-19 version of Blackened where all 4 played it on a ZOOM Call from 4 different locations. Best version of Blackened in my opinion.
4:40 that sound your referring to is called tremelo picking. To do it you pick up and down on one string of your guitar playing one note really fast. It involves mostly wrist movement
practise some more headbanging get rid of the headache.. promis.. beside that, Mr church drummer i would like to see you doing "airdrumming "on 'tallica song.. you choose which song, like the whole song thrue, bet you aint got it anylonger.. i know i dont airdrum for 5 minutes and i am outta breath lol. great vid/reaction!
Lars didnt exactly write it The way Metallica writes songs is usually a group effort, Lars and James hit the basics and they basically build the song one rift at a time, then other members join in to put their touch and they perfect the entire track and its rhythm until they are happy with it which by then also has lyrics They begin with an idea or a theme for the song, then they go from there
Well Lars says that he needs a longer and longer "pre-season" before recording or tour or his body punishes him hard. He might not be the best at keeping the beat, but he is very innovative. And as he has been heard saying "I bloody wrote the drumming so can't I play it as I want?" Always with a big grin on his face.
Is it accidental that the moment the song goes "confession" the man mentions the name of another music group, and if it is not, can you summarize the logic of it or the story of it? Is it about religion?
The way Metallica worked is either James or Kirk put a riff or a composition and bring in to the rehearsal space... Lars is more of an arranger during rehearsals - he works on the tempos, the drum arrangements, the time changes... the basic song structure. Once the band jams and a song comes out from start to finish w/ the riffs contributed, James has to come up w/ a vocal arrangement to the music... once he has that, he writes lyrics for those vocal arrangements and then, you have a Metallica song. In 2001 to 2003, Metallica and their producer Bob Rock decided to shake up the recording process... Rock played bass for the 'St. Anger' sessions, and the band would jam and create a spontaneous song from scratch by jamming w/ all 4 musicians having input. Unfortunately, the jams were unedited and James' alcoholism was affecting the sessions. By the time he came back, he wasn't really putting as much effort, so the others had to put their input... the record was Metallica's worst. The songs were unfocused and rickety in structure... plus they used untuned guitars and put Lars' clangy drums high in the recording mix. When Metallica got back from touring to work on this album 'Death magnetic' around 2006, new bassist Robert Trujillo was in the band. They hired producer Rick Rubin to supervise the album. They tried again to jam w/ all 4 members contributing in rehearsals & creating a new record, but that wasn't working initially - Rubin heard the first recordings and allegedly rejected the songs. Metallica were admittedly frustrated w/ the process and bickering in the studio, not uncommon in past sessions, was blistering the band's morale. Rubin apparently finally gave the green light to start recording songs in 2007 after months of back-and-forth. Their engineer Greg Fidelmann was tasked w/ the recording process while Rubin gave his input into what worked and what didn't. 25 songs were written... but only 14 made the final cut to be recorded w/ Rubin's seal of approval. 3 recording studios were used to put down the 'Death magnetic' album. Finally, 10 songs made the final record... 'All nightmare long' was 1 of them. All tracks on 'Death magnetic' were credited to all 4 members, but it was James Hetfield who wrote a bulk of the lyrics. However, James & Lars were the co-producers and basically, it was their tracks - drums and rhythm guitar, that were mixed high on the 'Death magnetic' album... Thankfully, Lars' drum tracks were not 'clangy' like on 'St. Anger'... The remaining 4 songs completed during the 2007/ '08 sessions were released as the 'Beyond magnetic' EP in late 2011 - those track were not included for a reason (They were somewhat poor in quality and structure)... In 2011, Metallica used the same process to record the 'Lulu' album w/ (the late) Lou Reed doing his poetry over Metallica's music... it was obviously painful to listen to... Clearly, that process of the entire band working collectively to create tracks in the studio was not working, and the end product was abysmal. Perhaps that is why Metallica is hesitant to work on new music in the studio for the last decade. Rather than hire more outside producers, James and Lars decided to put the 2016 album together in 2015/ '16 by themselves w/ engineer Greg Fidelman... Kirk Hammett (lead guitar) claimed he lost his phone which had all his ideas recorded, and did not have any contributions... bassist Robert Trujillo had 2 songs credited musically, but the album 'Hardwired to self-destruct' was mostly James and Lars jamming in a room and writing tracks... Lars resumed his role of taking Hetfield's riffs and presenting a song structure. Hetfield wrote all the lyrics on that record. And it seemed to work better creatively - 'Hardwired to self-destruct' was a much better and more focused album than the last two albums.
Haha, I bet I was born before you and head banging doesn't give me headaches, and I have chronic migraines! You need to practice man. All that hip hop makes you soft.LOL The trick is to exercise when you're angry.
Until 2003's St Anger James and Lars are credited as songwriters on pretty much every Metallica song. James does come up with a majority of riffs and Lars has proven to be extremely skilled at arranging song structures. On St. Anger and after the whole band gets songwriter credit on everything but if you check out the behind the scenes studio videos the band released for the Hardwired To Self-Destruct sessions they're still working the same way where Hetfield and Ulrich are locking down the songs with their producer before Kirk and Robert roll in. EDIT: I misspoke. They only did full-band credits on St Anger and Death Magnetic. As of Hardwired...they went back to Hetfield & Ulrich with Robert having some credit on ManUNKind.
