This is my actual bike, I ordered it through Damien Harris- great service. In respect to the brakes, hydraulic front and rear for the pilot, the stoker brake is quite handy on long downhills. I have had this bike nearly 2 years now- taken it to France twice and had hours of great rides with one of the kids, my wife or the kids taking turns on the back on long family rides. Absolutely love this bike, even ride it solo on a 15 mile each way commute sometimes.

Great review thank you. I don't like that separate brake lever for the stoker. Would you want the passenger in a car to have a brake pedal?

The challenge of a tandem is that going down steep hills with double the weight, you might need more stopping power than the two typical brakes. The captain only has two hands, so the solution here is to have the stoker control it.
I share your concerns about the calipers binding. My tandem third brake is a drum brake which adds friction but doesn't bind, I am supposed to set it as we crest the hill to keep from going to fast and then I have both hands for steering and braking. In practice, I don't use it enough because once we are going downhill, I don't have enough confidence to take my hand off the handlebar long enough to set it. I would love a stoker controlled disk brake.

In this analogy, if your car brakes couldn't stop you like a runaway truck with brakes burn out and avoiding dying yes I'd like my passenger to have a set of brakes 😂 but you could just throw the 3rd lever to the front

Surely you'd need a 2nd battery given weight for range? Terrifying to split brakes - why would you need to?

Battery good for 30-40 miles. can have a second battery fitted or take a spare in a pannier if you are going on a long ride.

Exactly what I need, additional braking force to lock up the rear when you fly down hill

Well the cadence is out of whack because there's a ELECTRIC MOTOR 😂 lol. Which I assume the smaller ring helps balance that extra power

    Expensive

I was actually surprised that it doesn't cost more. Just two years ago, almost any Bosch powered ebike with the Performance motors was $4k+ and this is a pretty custom build. Prices are definitely coming down, but specialty stuff always seems to command a premium :)

@@ElectricBikeReview the review bike is my actul bike. I agree with you about the price approximatly £1000 more than a similarly specced solo- great value. Gepida make ther own frames - they are well made. usually around 1 level up on wheels and groupset for the same price. we now have 2 Gepida ebikes in the familly and cant fault them

Having pedal not sync up is a real joke
    This bike is seriously overpriced
