    My brother passed away last year from Cancer. My mom and I have made it tradition to make these lanterns every year on his birthday and set them free at his favorite spot on the lake. Thank you for sharing this 💕

    It is twice as long as it is wide. If your roll of paper is 15 inches than cut off a piece that is 7 1/2 inches. I used Reynolds Genuine Parchment Paper Non Stick. It is used for baking cookies etc instead of greasing the pan.

    Have made these this week very accurate video, the size of paper doesn't seem to matter as long as it's a rectangle and all 12 pieces are the same size, I made these in A5, A4 and A3 sizes, I did use a clear elastic band for the centre very quick and lovely flowers 💫 Ty very much for sharing this video 💫

    They are so beautiful and easy to make. Thank yiu so much for this tutorial.
    I made them for my nephews memorial. He died in a tragic accident and drowned in a lake...Family and friends lighted candles and released the flowers on the lake. It was terribly sad but so so beautiful and everybody loved it...

    Thank you for sharing this video and I shall do this! You refer to the paper as "grease proof", did you use parchment paper or wax paper? And you also indicate rectangle sheets, what length did you cut them? Is there a size you felt worked the best?

      Hi, it's greaseproof baking paper. I haven't waxed it it.
      The size of the rectangles is half the width of the baking paper roll.

      They look beautiful, but rather time consuming. Just to explain. Americans don't know what greaseproof paper is. It's called parchment paper. And although probably possible; I haven't seen it for purchase in precut sheets. Thx for the demonstration.

    They are really pretty. Question? What would you place them on when you8 done? Hum... A board. Can you please make a complete video how they would look in the water. That would be beautiful! Just a thought.

    What is the order you put the paper after making the leaf and the petals? Also when putting them together is there a specific way? I'm sorry but I really love this but could you perhaps be a bit more detailed for people like me who don't catch on very quickly. Thank you for your time.

    Does it really stay afloat? Is there a possibility that if tumble, they start taking in water and sink? Love the idea, thank you!

    Sorry but how do you keep the candle from moving around when it is on the water? Doesn't it just slide over and then burn the sides? Thanks!

    What the heck is grease proof paper?

    • @nova7260
      @nova7260 ปีที่แล้ว

      Parchment paper

  • @emilyklute1767
    @emilyklute1767 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    If people use the type of paper you recommend, then these aren’t 100% biodegradable, as the paper is impregnated with silicon which is what makes it grease and water proof, and would pollute the water where you put the lantern with the plastic that is silicon Instead you should use wax paper which can actually decompose without affecting the local environment!

    • @drreddog321
      @drreddog321 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wax paper is made with paraffin wax which is also not biodegradable and (I think) would be more flammable than silicon.

    • @emilyklute1767
      @emilyklute1767 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@drreddog321 it also depends on the brand, and in theory you should be able to make wax paper with butcher paper or a similarly untreated paper, and beeswax or another biodegradable wax.
