So what I’m getting is, you disbanded those terrible starting units, got a bunch of catapults and quarrelers, fought your way to 8 peaks, attacked them killing units, retreated, attacked them killing units, retreated. And then finally took the castle.
Even if enough enemy unit models get off the map and escape, as long as you make sure you have enough movement to be sieging at the end of the turn they can replen, so eventually yeah, the damage just stacks up.
@@disiesgroto1881 That's pretty clever, I'll give it a try against big ass settlements. I was stuck with the idea that a siege is a win or lose situation, and I barely ever used the retreat button. I just get stomped to oblivion if I can't manage to win.
@@H0kram I mean in previous Total War games it is a significantly more valid tactic because you retreating from an assault doesn't count as lifting the siege. Problem with Very Hard battle diff is that one unit of low tier orcs will probably, even if the heroes are ethereal, end up inflicting unsustainable damage.
In a few turns, Karak Eight Peaks will have its garrison and will be able to fend off Orkish early-game trash with ease. Besides, I capture Black Crag 2 turns after I capture Karak Eight Peaks, and then Grimgor is doomed.
I was hopping for a scene where a bunch of dwarf lords are sitting around a table complaining about Belegar being lazy only to then have him kick down the door to the basement buff as hell. Then after letting out a scream of pure grudge filled rage proceeding to take back Eight Peaks and end it with giving Skarsnik swirlies while his ancestors stand beside laughing.
The problem with rushing 8 peaks is that Skarsnik/Ikkit Claw/Someone will take your original territory while you're away, producing new grudges in the process and you end up with the reverse problem you had before, except now you're surrounded by Greenskins and Skaven and you can't afford to send units back to resolve them.
Yeah thats the problem with Belgar, 50% upkeep on top of Dwarf unit costs is CRIPPLING. like a unit of miners is like 110 and basic warriors are 173. Quarrelers are 200. So you don't really get the luxury of second army or a even a second LORD without tanking your economy.
You inspired me to try this myself. I pulled it off by turn 12, by mixing the quarrelers strategy plus putting the 2 thane ghosts on the walls. The quarrelers took care of the long range units, and the thanes slowly whittled everything in their path. The runesmith simply topped up defense from time to time. It was an hour long siege, but I made it through.
