#firsttimewatching #reaction #moviereaction #thething - บันเทิง
My favourite thing about someone watching this for the first time is seeing them fall in love with the "dog."
"An American Werewolf In London" is fantastic with some British humor and great practical effects.👍👍
If you notice that the director of Wearwolf In London , practically did his same final chaos as he did in " The Blues Brothers "? The only diff is in this one there were heads rolling , cars rolling over people etc😂
A lot of people consider the practical effects in this movie to be superior to any CGI effects we have today.
I'm one of them. Practical isn't better on its own, you need to light it right, frame it right etc.
Lifeforce. It's batshit crazy, you'll love it.
Ever seen Phantasm?
I was waiting for that Doctor to lose his arms scene. Emma’s reaction didn’t disappoint. 🤣
Nothing is wrong with "this world", if you pay attention in the beginning it tells you that the station is located in the Antarctic, where it's always snow.
Yeah, Antarctican winter with 1982 analog and radio equipment
I like the fact that Garry looking as defeated, dejected and frustrated as he was tied to that couch, knowing the truth as best he understood it and was still subject to total distrust and suspicion, was what got the most reaction. It's an understated moment in the film and one of the last scenes that hits home the overall theme.
it's always funny watching people react to The Thing, especially if they're dog lovers
it's like "honey you got a big storm comin'"
The world is fine. The movie takes place in Antartica (South Pole).
I love practical effects.
Indeed, it is pure art!
Top 5 horror film but one of the greatest horror directors of all time. An proof Great practical effects will ALWAYS hold up better then CGI
based on a story written in the late 1930`s ,Who Goes There?": The novella that formed the basis of "The Thing" is the John W. Campbell classic about an antarctic research camp that discovers and thaws the ancient, frozen body of a crash-landed alien. The creature revives with terrifying results, shape-shifting to assume the exact form of animal and man, alike.
John Carpenter 's best movies in my opinion are....
Halloween
The Thing
Prince of Darkness
They Live
Vampires
Notice who spotted the head at 33:06 & was a Thing at 35:05 - the same person. You can almost imagine the Spiderhead Thing cursing out the other as it was burned.
Rob Bottin, the Special Effects Master behind this Epic Film was Also the same Genius responsible for the incredibly amazing practical effects of THE HOWLING 1981...
Just hearing the theme music gets my heart racing….
It's very telling how younger viewers will immediately go to airborne infections when they see this. The influence of movies they're familiar with is obvious. But we never went there with horror back in the 80s. -- it was strictly the gore and some body horror.
One of my favorite British movies that made Kenneth Branagh famous to American audiences and re-popularized Shakespeare to the general public is 1989's "Henry V" starring and directed by Kenneth Branagh. Branagh's rousing performance of Shakespeare's "Crispin's Day speech" made the term "band of brothers" part of the common parlance with such a powerful association with themes of courage, fellowship and loyalty that it would become the evocative title of a great book and a great TV series adaptation which you have already watched.
Here’s some British movies 4 weddings and a funeral, Notting Hill, Johnny English, the time bandits,
If you mention Time Bandits you should mention Brazil
"Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels", "Shaun Of The Dead", "Zulu" & "The Wild Geese".
Great reaction Emma 👍Thank you.
Kurt Russell is excellent in this movie. As always!
Keith David was great too.
One of the great Sci-Fi films, 'it could be anyone' is so well done in this. For another British movie I'd suggest A Fish Called Wanda if you haven't watched that yet.
I like watching the reactions to this film. Most people seeing it for the first time sympathize with the dog, not realizing it’s the big bad in disguise. That and the legit jump scare moments that they pull off rather well.
For an 80s Vintage British horror film I would suggest Ken Russell's Lair Of The White Worm. Loosely based on a Bram Stoker (Dracula) novella, with a great cast, thrills, trippy visuals and a welcome dose of humor. A note about The Thing and reviews thereof: I wish I had a dollar for every review that began with pleading for the runaway dog. How quickly that tune always changes lol
"Dog Soldiers" - 2002, Action Horror genre. Good for Halloween
You are absolutely gorgeous
You can say that again pal.
Oh thank you!
Easily among the top 100 movies ever made (2023.09.29)
Great reaction Emma, so glad you reacted to this, its my all time favourite movie
She does have really good reactions. She should watch a movie called "Snatch" from 2000. It's a British movie, funny, about a robbery. Has Brad Pitt and Jason Statham.
1st goddamn week of winter
Best doggo actor ever.
His name was Jed. Part wolf, so he didn't act like a dog.
British film classics.
28 Days Later… (2002)
Gregory's Girl (1981)
The Ladykillers (1955)
Peeping Tom (1960)
The Wicker Man (1973)
Monty Python's Life of Brian (1979)
Withnail & I (1987)
Trainspotting (1996)
The Third Man (1949)
A Fish Called Wanda (1988)
The Descent (2005)
Shaun Of The Dead (2004)
Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994)
Snatch (2000)
Lock, Stock and two smoking barrels
The Full Monty 1997❤🎉😊
ALL the Monty Python movies are must sees.
Bridge over river Kwai, Lawrence of Arabia and the Third Man: all nearly perfect
In the 1930's John Campbell wrote a novella in which Antarctic researchers find a crashed spacecraft with a shape shifting alien monster called "Who Goes There." In the 1950's they did a movie with a completely different alien monster. "The Thing From Another World" is a good movie, it just isn't "Who Goes There". In this movie the Norwegian camp found the spacecraft and woke up the alien.
The 2011(?) prequel movie's biggest flaw it that it looks at the emotional reactions of the characters when it should be focusing on how dangerous the alien is.
British movies: Trainspotting; Bridge on the River Kwai; Chariots of Fire; The Crying Game; Alfie (1966); A fish Called Wanda; The Italian Job (1969); Shakespeare in Love (1998); The Wicker Man (1973);. Generally, anything with Michel Caine; anything by Hitchcock and Danny Boyle. Anything by David Lean. Recent: Fishtank; Harry Brown, Eden Lake. Anything by Kubric.
Now you need to put The Blob (1988) and The Fly (1986) on the list. Great reaction.😊
The first Blob with Steve McQueen
The 1988 blob would be awesome
You should eventually watch the 2011 The Thing. It takes place right before this movie and explains what happened to the other team here.
I love your insightful reactions. Being a singer, I especially love your reactions and commentary on music videos.
2:44 Hilariously, Jed (the actor-dog) was in fact half wolf. Scared the crew sometimes, he had wolf instincts still.
Jed just didn't act like a dog. The way he looked at the crew gave a sort of...uncanny valley effect. He looked just like a husky, but the behavior didn't match.
@@Bluesit32 Exactly. Which is very fitting for a film like this.
I love this movie, it's so creepy and gross and Kurt Russell is so handsome ❤
FYI, this is John Carpenter's remake adaptation of The Thing From Another World from 1951, an early classic sci-fi movie. For British film, I would suggest Powell and Pressburger's renown classic The Red Shoes from 1948, if you haven't seen it already. :)
and it was based on a book called Who Goes there, by john w campbell, the film original is the watched in Halloween, the scene where the norwegians are standing in the video is taken from the first movie as well
I’m happy u finally got to the thing. A “must see”..One of the best horror/scifis ever made.
Good British movies? I’d go with Sean of the Dead, Quadrophenia, Hot Fuzz
@BigBass-xfgyi
Actual Lee: It's "Shaun of the dead"
Because I read the book long before the movie came out, the book actually takes place before this place, I already knew there was something wrong with the dog. The sequel to this movie, actually a prequel, shows you where the dog came from.
40 years passed and people still argue if Childs was the thing or not... masterpiece
Based on the book "Who Goes There". The original movie was made in '51.
A Fish Called Wanda. John Cleese Jaimie Curtis etc. Very funny film you will love it.
Agree it's a great film
The director of this movie John Carpenter is the director and writer of the iconic Halloween(1978) which is the movie that birthed the iconic slasher Michael Myers. If you haven’t seen it check it out.
2:51 Det er ingen hund! Det er en slags ting!
29:49 That was the thing imitating his heart condition.
Always so beautiful Emma :) thank you for this reaction!
No problem 😊
Here we go!
Welcome to the world of John Carpenter. From Sci-fi to action, horror, vampires, ghosts, zombies from Mars and on and on.
What works for him is that his movies are B movies, and that's exactly what he wants. And it works.
He has his hand in every aspect of his movies. He even composes the soundtracks.
He likes working with Kurt Russell. They've made 5 movies together. One of those is Escape from New York. Really different from this movie.
"Dog Soldiers" is a great British movie
Ok😉🇬🇧
Wow you look absolutely beautiful I love the red watch to go with the outfit
Halloween is coming soon highly recommend HALLOWEEN 1978 Directed by John carpenter
I don't know exactly if it's British, but 28 Days Later takes place in London and is as far as I'm concerned the pinnacle of zombie movies.
Funny thing, if lots of these reactors turned on the subtitles in the beginning, the entire movie would be spoiled. 🤫😅
I loved this movie, Emma. It plays off the paranoia so well. Nobody knows who is who, and nobody knows who to trust, which is the real terror of this movie. Regardless of how old it is, it's effective. Great reaction!!
Love and respect all the way from the U.S!!
British movie .. "Snatch" by Guy Ritchie
An older but excellent British movie called "The Hill" ( b/w 1965- not to be confused with the baseball movie) is the first movie that popped into my head. It stars Sean Connery. Once seen, it is never forgotten. 1966 "A Man For All Seasons" won an Academy Award. If you haven't seen it, "1917" was also excellent and is more recent. All good British films.
Royalty among the horror genre. Holds up better than almost any other movie that rubs elbows with it.
There’s a theory that Childs is infected. At the end when MacReady hands him the bottle, it’s not whiskey. It’s a Molotov cocktail (gasoline), but the thing has no idea what whiskey tastes like, so he just chugs it. At that moment Mac looks at him and laughs, as he knows it’s an alien.
This movie HEAVILY inspired Among Us gameplay. The idea of a killer hiding in plain sight
Children of men, awesome film
Another great reaction Emma. Wow you look stunning! ❤❤❤
8:46 "Fresh Blad" was adorable.
Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels is a good one.
Wonderful you finally got to The Thing!
Watch Shawn of the Dead for Halloween. It's a British movie. The tag line on the movie poster is "A love story,.....with zombies." It's horror, comedy, love story, morality tale all rolled up into one movie.
5 Stars.
@billbogamer4389
Actual Lee: It's "Shaun of the dead".
"This is England" is one of the best movies the UK has to offer. It takes place in the 80s and involves the younger generation of skinheads, the good kind.
Still a fantastic horror movie. Better with top-shelf practical FX.
There is an earlier version. This is a remake.
@@JohnRodriguesPhotographer A re-adaptation, honestly. Carpenter loved The Thing from Another World, but this follows far closer to Who Goes There in terms of plot and mood.
🤗🤗💖💖
For suggestions on British movies I'd like to recommend 2 movies, "Snatch", and "Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels", both directed by the same director and very entertaining.
He hasn't reached anyone on continent of Antarctica not because something happened, but because Antarctica in the winter with technological limitations of Analog and radio equipment. Thats it.
British Movies I'd recommend...
The King's Speech
The Imitation Game
Thank you Emma. Looking sharp today
You might enjoy the way the action in Tarzan The Fearless is done Emma, with the animals in it and stunt work
British films:
(Comedy/Romance)
Letter to Brezhnev (1985), The Rachel Papers (1989), Guest House Paradiso (1999), A Fish Called Wanda (1988), Restless Natives (1985),
(Horror/Thriller)
Company of Wolves (1984), Xtro (1982), Paperhouse (1988), Mona Lisa (1986), Young Sherlock Holmes (1985)
Please react to the movie "Colombiana" with Zoe Saldana 🥺
The origional " The Thing " was in Black & White , then in the 80's this one was made. After this one another one was made , but that was Pre - Thing on how it all started.
The 2011 "The Thing" is a prequel to this movie, it tells the story of the Norwegian camp that found the thing in the ice. It ends with the very beginning of this film. They depict the actions that lead to the scene found by MacReady and others.
*HANS WANTS THE FLAMETHROWER!*
Hey nice new look !!
By a British Director Sunshine 2007 Danny Boyle - The movie is soo visually gorgeous and the music Ach du lieber Gott
Halloween is coming up and Hammer Films is a British production company with a large selection of horror movies.
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, and Shaun of the Dead.
RocknRolla a Guy Ritchie English gangster comedy classic. Huge cast amazing movie.
Thanks for the video!! See you later!! Stay safe.😊
Best British movie - Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrells - Guy Ritchie heist movie - very funny and fun
The original was in 1951.
theres a lot of british movies, some funny, the Ealing Studioes, Kind Heart and Coronets, the Lavender Hill Mob, the Lady killers (dont watch the remake). theres the hammer horror films too many to mention, theatre of death Christopher Lee, Peter cushing movies.
Classic movie that is very well made
"Who Goes There" had more survivors and a more hopeful ending.
This is a very good horror movie. The spider in this movie was used in the outstanding horror game Doom 3. If the Thing has only 1 cell alive it can regenerate. I don't understand why this is not allowed by TH-cam. What I just said.
That first jump scare u did, during the CPR, u were awesome! If u would have been wearing a big loose billowy top or dress, it woulda went all the way over ur head!!😮😮😅😅
As some FYI, in John Carpenter's other main movie at the time, Halloween (1978), he showed a clip from the original 1951 version. In his 2018 Halloween update, he showed a clip from this movie. By the way, he composed nearly all the music in his movies. Halloween, Escape From New York, The Thing, and Christine, are notable themes that have been copied through the decades. Especially Halloween, EFNY, and Christine. So, if it is a John Carpenter movie, it is likely that he also composed the music, and also wrote or adapted the script for most of it. Halloween is new, as well as EFNY, The Thing was an adaptation of the original 1951 version (the title logo is virtually the same), and Christine is also an adaptation from the Stephen King novel. The music style is synthwave, which was extremely popular around the time of these movies, from 1977 to 1987.
A great British horror film is "Final Prayer" aka The Borderlands.
I was 17 when this flick came out. I tried to look brave in front of my date... Didn't work.
A British movie I recommend is A Summer Story (1988). Not a well-known movie and I don't think anyone has reacted to it yet. It's quite good.
I'm 2 weeks late leaving a comment so likely no one will read this but No worries.
Blair snapped when he realized the incredible threat the Alien was to the entire planet.
So he was still human when he killed the rest of the dogs, destroyed the communication devices and the vehicles, because Blair wanted to prevent any possibility for the Alien organism to get to the outside world. Even if it meant they all would die in Antarctica. I believe another infected person went to the shed where Blair was tied up and infected him.
Emma, if you liked the movie, I recommend the story "The Things" by Peter Watts. It tells this same story but from the alien's point of view... It`s a very good story.
I found this a bit of an odd reaction. Maybe it was the language barrier but Emma seemed to spend most of the movie not quite understanding what was going on (thinking the Norwegians had infected the dog, thinking Blair was infected when it was clear from what he was saying that he wasn't and saying that Childs & McReady should do the blood test right at the end even though by now the camp was a smoking ruin) 🤔
Haha everyone else watching this movie looks squeamish at the autopsy scene. Emma wants to get a better look. :D
How about the neo-classic British comedy "Four Weddings and a Funeral." It's hilarious and touching as well. It's the film that made Hugh Grant a star.
Oh, great idea!!)
