What a important message to the church and even though it's from a talk given in 1983 it will always be reliable. That's one thing I love about the gospel, it never gets outdated or unreliable. Thank you John for your steadfast work in Jesus.
You as well Tony for bringing it to us.

    THE TEMPEST - Lili
It gives you comfort just to think that God is by your side
To help you with your petty wants, you only have to pray
Everything given or denied, it’s part of his great plan
But what of when your world falls down, loss of home and pride
Nature is a cruel beast, she arrives to ruin and flay
She doesn’t care, she doesn’t think, of Gods, of love or man. -
The cruel sea, the skies and wind all dark with careless hate
Your home picked up and flung aside, the air fulfilled with death
Is this the plan he had for you? You still think he is great
Perhaps you think that he is kind for sparing most his flock
A score of reasons to excuse, indifference, sin or fate
It’s still the same, your world is gone, your hopes and prayers a mock. -
And as you stare into the sky and bend your knees in thanks
Your neighbor’s dead, your town a wreck, what thanks is due to him?
Who made your life a misery, no future left for you
You’re leaving now, your fate unknown a victim of his whim
You’ll join the mass of those he’s scorned, the lost the faithful too
Perhaps this trial will make you think, this God cannot be true. -
If he is love then what’s this hate, inflicted on mankind
It’s not just here, it’s everywhere, Infidel and faithful alike
He doesn’t care, he strikes us all, and we’re supposed to find
The meaning of the tragedy, the reason of the plan
Be grateful for the mercy, mercy no one sees, mercy undefined
The game he’s played with human pawns, the game he’s played with man. -
The great Khayyam wrote of the game, a checkerboard of lies
He knows the fate of everyone and watches from above
And you may lift your hands to him, expectant of his love
He only cares about the game, the players live or die
And if you die that is the cost of being in the game
A player faithful might be spared, the wanting to the flames.

The hymn says "twas grace that taught my heart to fear, and grace my fears relieved". The Philippian jailer cried out, "what must I do to be saved?" We should be fearful if we are still in darkness and under the wrath of God. The Holy Spirit's work is to first awaken us to our lost estate, then reveal the preciousness of Christ and His saving work on the Cross in our place.

4:00 James the brother of John is killed in Acts 12. This James is from Matt 13 v55.

Apparently the Apostle, St. Peter, didn't understand Reformed Theology, since on Calvinism, GOD *ONLY* loves those whimsically and randomly preselected *prior to Creation* and HIS only begotten Son *ONLY* came to save them by discriminating against the non-elect and *ONLY* giving faith and regeneration to the elect.

Looks like you still don't understand and also fail to offer any form of alternative view either. Any timestamp or quote from the video to show where John Piper was in error? I'm guessing not.

@@HearGodsWord --- It's pretty funny that none of you know what the man-made theology of Calvinism has historically taught for the last 500 years, none of you know there are alternative views, none of you know what those views are, none of you have any plausible explanations, none of you are capable doing anything other than throwing ad hominem's at me or asking dumb questions, and yet you enter my clearly explained OP and tell me I don't understand; you guys are hilarious. How many times must I tell you the alternative is crystal clear; GOD loves everybody when they are born and has made provision for everybody to be Saved.

@John Q. Public its pretty funny that you run away from every question I ask. Of no-one is agreeing with you then that's a clear sign that the problem is with you. Why couldn't you reply to me; is it because I asked something you cannot answer, or are you just too scared to actually engage?

    • @JohnQPublic11

@@HearGodsWord --- Its my OP. I'm the one asking the questions. The Calvinists job is to defend their mindless gibberish theology, not ask questions. Calvinists asking questions when they are asked questions is their age ole tired and worn out *PLOY* to avoid being caught in the trap that is being laid for them.
