Pretty crazy that you have been uploading for almost 20 years Jim. You're a true saint.
Hi Jim started with you about 4 years and as many banjos ago when you brought sunshine into my life. I take this stuff down to the beach and practice to the surf, keeps me coming back to you topping up and having fun. Kind regards Tim
Love your style of teaching. I have improved leaps and bounds since tuning in to your channel. Thanks!
Just stumbled upon you today. Just bought a banjo after taking a 20 year absence from playing the banjo. You are the best teacher ever. Thanks and as soon as that Banjer gets to my house I will be back.
I put my banjo down 3 years ago when my wife and i had a new baby. The 3 year old got into my stuff the other day and dug out a pack of strings i had. I took that as a sign and have been picking around today. I'm so glad to see you are still putting out excellent content. I have some catching up to do and your videos are what helps me most. Thanks and God bless you.
Cool! I started playing banjo about five months ago. I've been rolling through chords, which still sounds great to me. I did a couple of jams (thank god there were like three other banjos in the ensemble behind which I could hide my incompetence). This will be very useful. Maybe in another five months I'll venture a break during one of the jams.
Another massive helping tip there. This just came up an hour after I asked a friend to include a “moveable closed chord licks” into his workshop in a fortnight. How bizarre!
Thanks again for the continued content - love it!
And I’m uk based !
@@JimPankey lots of folk here in the uk start out with your really good vids. I tend to dip in and out when I see the subject of your content. Anyway, keep up the great content - it travels really well to Uk 👍🏻🎶🪕👍🏻
Jim, you make things seem so much easier and more obvious. I appreciate how you break these concepts down! 😊
You should design a T-Shirt that says, “You Can Do This-Jim Pankey.” Just sayin’. Thanks for the consistently great, yet simple lessons🤘🪕
Just found your channel, and i have already learned a ton! Awesome content!
I enjoy your videos a lot that's why i subscribed. I've picked around 40 years, the only way i can learn songs is tab. I know you preach talk before read,, but that doesn't work for me. I've tried everything including the Murphy method. I wish i could because my banjo journey would be easier for sure. Keep on sharing videos and I'll keep ordering tabs... Thanks!
glad I can help. no tabs for this one though. the only way to ever get past using tabs is just to start experimenting and applying all the things you've learned.
Thank you unc for your wealth of knowledge that you give for free. Just started playing and i'm so glad i found your channel. Love the shirt btw😂
Hey Jim, really thankful for your video's. I always loved the banjo but never thought I could learn to play, until I found you on TH-cam. Now I have just made it through your lesson 10 and still have a lot to learn, but very excited about it. Thanks again for all your help. 👍🇺🇸
I love it, thank you so much for doing this. You have taught me so much, you have no idea.
I meant to ask about the SOB t-shirts I really want one, where do you get a v neck?
You are awesome Jim!!
@@JimPankey I aspire to be as awesome and half the banjo picker you are. I hope our paths cross some day. Thanks for passing on this valuable information for the generations behind you. Without getting too deep, It's really important!!
Really cool Jim will be up again practicing this thanks like to see more. Have a friend that plays melody chords and small runs I suppose all the time like to catch on to this thanks been watching you a long time your very inspiring
Sou brasileiro!estou aprendendo banjo com você Jim!parabéns ,continue nos ensinando.obrigado
Jim I love your teaching technique, I also like the sound of that banjo but I cannot make out what make n model.
Thanks for that Jim, keep up the good work, you make learning simplified 👍
Do you think you could do a video on the banjo break in Snake Charmer by Balsam Range?
Jim I love your content and I wish I could play a banjo or guitar but my finger tips just make it to hard to get clean sounding notes. Press on one string and do a roll I get nothing but dud sounds from my finger touching 3 strings instead or the not that I need to play.
That's a practice issue and not a finger issue. People with all sorts of hand and finger shapes play. You just have to stick with it; it's not something anyone can "just do".
Did you post the link to the other up the neck video? I’d like to see it!
Where have u been
Hey would you have anyone to recommend like TH-cam Jim pankey type beginner fiddle teachers?
Been right here. Still doing a couple of videos a month. Wish I had a solid fiddle teacher to point you to, but I don’t.
Any tips for pull offs it's being a pin in my side right now
Awesome thanks and thanks for all the videos I would be lost on the banjo if wasn't for your channel it's helped me a lot
Great video Jim.
Jim any chance of you doing a video on Mike Redman 10000 reasons. Ive been looking at it for months and can't seem to get it. Davy.
Find the chords. Play rolls through the chords. You shouldn't need a tutorial for that part. That's how it all starts.
Beyond that, you'll be looking for a custom lesson from someone. I'm not that person. lol
Jim, I've been playing for 60 years. I'm not too bad, but I still find plenty to pick up from you because you're that good of a teacher. I used to slow down Earl's playing from 33-1/3 to 16-2/3 to first learn FMB note by note when I first started playing my Kay Banjo at the age of 15 . . . 62 years ago. Now I play it on my 1994 Gibson Earl Scruggs Standard and several other "Rich Era" banjos in my collection. You're the best banjo teacher I never had. Keep up the good work, my friend, the Bluegrass community needs you. And, as you know, you never stop learning.
☺️ thanks
