    I love this! I’m 72 yrs old & neither of my daughters in law want my costume & beaded jewelry or clothes. So I will use some of my clothes etc. to make them purses that they can pass on to my granddaughters and give them a memory card in the pockets. Thank you for this wonderful video.

    If I was to do this kind of thing I would definitely add feathers, lace, beads, fringe, pearls, opals, this whole video had me feeling like I was back in the 60s , which I adore immensely.. ❤

    As you drew the 'perfect V' on the back, I realize how your boho 'scrappy' look works so well. There is a foundation of carefully planned and laid out work. Then the uneven, fraying, mixed pieces on top. It works because of the good underlying plan. Thanks for your teaching Traci.

    I just love your stuff. One thing I noticed is that you are pulling your jump rings straight open. This will weaken the metal and make them prone to breaking. Instead, you should twist them apart - it's hard to explain in words, but if you watch a video it is just as easy as doing it the other way.

    Very nice little bag. When I make my bags now, I attach my handles with rivets from Kamsnaps and I bought one of their rivet machines. And I also use their plastic snaps all the time. They also have decorative snaps as well. I’ve had too many of my bags straps ripped out. Also, I sew my linings a little differently than you do. I taper the Linings of my bags so they’re actually narrower and they fit nicely inside. I start them the same at the top and after about 2 inches I start to taper the bag a little bit so that when I get to the bottom, it’s probably tapered in a quarter inch on each side. I learned this trick from another bag maker on TH-cam. And that works well for me.

    • @tmyershandmade978
      @tmyershandmade978  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great tip!!! I'm going to start doing that. My lining can be a bit bulky inside. Thank you so much 🤗💖💖💖💖💖

    Hi Traci....I am working on making this bag. I am cutting fringe and would like to know approx. how many pieces of fringe I would need to get it to look like yours. I like the fullness of it. Thanks so much...BTW, I didn't realize how much the fringe actually costs. After you cut up a jacket, and determine how many 10" pieces you get, it can be quite expensive. Moving forward I will look closely at the way the jacket is constructed and then determine whether or not it is worth the price. This is something you might want to emphasize for beginners.....like me! 💗💚💙

    I love all your bags and thank you for sharing your skills I’m hoping to make some similar festival bag for craft fair coming up but have no idea on how to price them. Obviously using thrifted items, but some of your vintage jewellery pieces look expensive !
    Would you mind giving an idea of what is a reasonable price for the bags ? Thanks so much

    • @tmyershandmade978
      @tmyershandmade978  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thank you so much! My jewelry pieces are thrifted and not expensive😊Pricing questions are the most difficult for me to answer. There are SO many variables. Without knowing where a person is selling, the materials used, quality, their following, demand etc. it's almost impossible to answer. When I priced a bag it was always a bit of a struggle. My bags averaged about $250-$350, but my bags sold anywhere from $79 to $600😊😊😊

    Just to add.. yes it does make a difference if the tabs are pushed in or out. It should be in.
    If out, stress on the fabric can pull them outwith just a slight angle. When in.. stress on the fabric would have to be manipulated around the bend and force the bend to open to pull the closure out.

    These really are a work of art and I'm sure they take a lot of time to make. Approximately how much do you sell these for? Thank you for your generous lessons.

    Hey Traci❣️ I LOVE THIS soo much! It’s perfect. Just wondering, do you ever save the jacket liners to use for anything?

      Thank you 💖 I rarely save the jacket liners, sometimes they are unique or pretty enough to use on other projects. 😍

    You could leave the top of the suede in tack and just cut to within a 1/2 inch then swe that on add random loose fringe on top then lay lace over the top.
