Thank you so much for your support with my new channel.
Wishing you all good health, happiness, love and prosperity!

I have just found your channel and so wish I had found it sooner! Everything you said made complete sense to me. I am a woman of 68 born and living in England. My husband and I are living on our state pensions and a very small NHS pension that I receive. It’s a struggle and most months we have to dip into our savings. Thank you for your tips on budgeting and your honesty, most helpful. Wishing you a happy and healthy 2025.x
Dear Patricia,
Thank you very much for watching, finding it useful and leaving a comment. It is a shame that we retired people have to struggle and dip into our savings in order to survive these days. With skyrocket food prices being frugal and creative helps to get through these days.
Wishing you a Happy and Prosperous New Year!
Thanks for sharing your philosophy regarding money, as well as your budget specifics. It gave me some reminders, and also “food for thought”.
@@lynnbleasdale5824 Happy New Year! Thank you for your support.
Best Wishes!
Vera
Hi Vera, I enjoy your videos very much and always can take away something. I also do an envelope system. I used to play a game with myself to see how long I could go without spending. I was working 2 jobs and putting my son through college. When he graduated I continued and saved for retirement. I didn't have much of a social life for 20 years but I am able to retire without financial worry. I still am frugal, it's my way of living. I don't eat out, I enjoy my few friends that I have. I need to exercise more so I'm wanting to do chair yoga in 2025. Please continue to do your videos as you mentioned beginning and ending of month with cooking and crafts and thrifting in-between. Happy new year!
Happy New Year!
Thank you for sharing your money saving experience. You must be very proud of your achievements👏. We did make sacrifices but it was all worthy.
January is here, let’s see how my NO spend challenge goes.
Best Wishes!
Vera
I have watched this video twice now. Your budget provided me such a great roadmap for me. Thank you.
Hello,
Thank you for watching and your great support. I am glad to hear you find my video useful.
Have a lovely day!
I really enjoy listening to your videos. You have a practical approach to life, with a wealth of experience behind you. I like it that you offer different topics to chat about. The different lengths of videos isn't a problem for me. I press pause when I have to, then resume watching later. Sorted! Best wishes coming across to you from England! 🎉
Dear Christina,
Happy New Year!
Thank you for your lovely comment and support!
What part of England? ❤❤
Best wishes!
Vera
@Frugalpleasuresinretirement Happy New Year, Vera. From up in Yorkshire. We'll be down in London on Monday, seeing our family off on their way back home to Canada!
I love your content, the budget, the cooking, and everything else. Keep them coming.I look forward to them! Debby
Dear Debby,
Thank you for your comment and support.🙏
Happy New Year!
I enjoy listening to you discuss your life. Yes you need the boots. It's why we are frugal, so we can afford to splurge on ourselves for the things that give us pleasure. You inspire me to do better at my budgeting, cooking and enjoying life while I can. I think your videos are just right for the amount of time you put into them. Some are short, some are long and all are interesting. I would like to see more videos of your meal plans and cooking. Great video.
Hello,
Thank you very much for your comment and support. Yes, being frugal and cutting corners we can indulge ourselves here and there.
Happy New Year!❤
I will include my meals as well in my future videos.❤
Just found your channel and really enjoy your content. (Doing catch up on your previous videos) I'm also in my 60's, widowed and retired. The length of your videos are just fine, some topics do require longer than others. Consumerism has become a way of life for so many, a measure of success for some. I'm always looking for more ways to live intentional and more frugal. Thank you for sharing your journey, I'm looking forward to following along in the new year.
Hello and Welcome!
Thank you for watching and leaving a comment🙏 . We learn from each other in order to be frugal and enjoy our golden years.
Happy New Year!
Just found you and subscribed, love your healthy eating meals and all your budgeting ideas. I've just become a pensioner in December in the UK , no mortgage and no debt I have been following frugal queen in France for the last 3 years.
Looking forward to all that you post all the best for 2025 x
Happy New Year Janet!
Congratulations with your retirement!
You will love it. I hope you switched that alarm off forever😊
It makes such difference to step into a new chapter mortgage and dept free. 👏👏👏
I follow Jane and Mike as well.
Best Wishes!
Enjoy your retirement!
Vera
Good job! I enjoyed the video. Tell us more about your life experiences…
Hello,
Thank you for your comment and support. Will do, but if you watch my earliest videos (the quality of the videos are terrible) you can find more about my life journey and experiences.
Happy New Year!
This video gives me good ideas on how to look and plan for the next year. I enjoy your longer videos. I need to get new flooring this year. A large expense but one that I need it and so it goes. Have a good week💐
Happy New Year!
Thank you for your comment and support.
Flooring, is a large expense but imagine how beautiful it will be. It is well worth and it is an investment in your property.
Best wishes!
Vera
Enjoying your videos and how you manage your money! I do use a credit card for cash back rewards but I pay it off every month. I think that’s about the only thing I do differently than you. It’s amazing how far a dollar goes if I pay attention to how I am spending.
Hello,
Thank you for comment and support!
Yes, paying attention to our spending helps us to live comfortably.
Happy New Year!
I look forward to your video, I really like your content and enjoy your budgeting talk and tips. I enjoyed your new year resolutions and am going to try to do some of them myself like learning to do something new, budget a little differently than I have. I don 't think your videos are too long at all. Keep doing things just like your doing. I really enjoy watching you and feel like you're a friend of mine. Thank you!
Dear Shirley,
Thank you for your comment and support. I as well like learning and get inspired from others in order to live a frugal but fulfilled life.
Happy New Year!
Hello Vera, keep up the good work! You already share a lot of personal and interesting informations that certainly are helping a lot of people. Wish you a quiet and nice New Year !
Happy New Year!
Thank you for your comment and support!
Best Wishes!
You give a lot of hope to many people with your video
Hello,
Thank you very much for your support!
Happy New Year!
I really enjoyed your video this time. It is so interesting to see how older people budget because they have lived and also in retirement you have to pull in your purse strings as my mother would say. Thanks for all the info.
Hello,
I am glad you enjoyed my long video.
I like your mother’s saying.❤ especially these days we have to pull….
Happy New Year!
Hi Vera. New subscriber here! I enjoy your channel and sharing of yourself. I’m frugal too, but love to hear the tips and tricks of others. You mentioned that you work as an extra in movies, maybe you can talk about that in one of your upcoming videos!!! I’m 56 and want to start a YT channel, but when I turn the camera on, my mind goes blank and I’ve got nothing to say, ha
Happy New Year Tammy!
Welcome!
Thank you for watching my videos and find them useful. I will mention about my movie extra experience in one of the videos.
Tammy about starting a new channel, go for it! A couple months ago I didn’t have a clue what I am doing, was worried about my accent, etc. Now I quite enjoy being natural.
Start with shorts until you feel confident. There are content creators making faceless videos. Have a scrip ready before you turn the camera on.
Wishing you good luck!
Vera
My retirement account has gone down by 13.7% in the past year due to rebalancing I did out of fear uncertainty and doubt. What are best alternatives to take in other to secure a financially free retirement and achieve ultimate peace? I don’t want to fail after years of working hard.
Dear Jason,
I am sorry to hear your accounts went down. I am not a financial advisor so I don’t feel I qualified to give an advice to secure a financial free retirement.
In my own experience I can see my investments are up and down. I might re-invest all my funds in GIC at lower rate but at least it will more secure.
Before my retirement I made sure my mortgage was paid and I didn’t have any debts and saved as much as I could. Now I can maintain my comfortable lifestyle (still frugal) on my pension.
I hope I answered your question.
Regards,
Vera
Happy new year may we all have a happy blessed prosperous new year with God's hands upon everything we do
Happy New Year!
Best Wishes!
Please keep the long videos I love listening to you. ❤😊
Will do😊❤️🌸
I don’t have a preference as far as length of your videos. If something interrupts me while viewing one, or if I want to take a break, it’s simple to stop it, and continue later. No big deal.
Happy New Year!
Thank you for your comment and feedback!
Best Wishes!
Vera
I like all the topics.Your positivity is contagious. And your videos are not too long. I would like a new Vera video every morning🥰
Happy New Year!
Thank you very much for your kind comment and support!
Hope you had an enjoyable New Year celebration!

Thank you for this video! I am woman age 57 and will retire in three years with a good pension and I have some investments and a home. I am mentally preparing for retirement how I will be spending and what I will do with my free time. I am not great with money but plan to get better 😀. Your channel really inspired me to plan my annual finances better.
Hello,
Thank you for your comment and sharing about your retirement plan.
I was planing my retirement, financial, activities and creating routines: monthly, weekly and daily.
Now, being retired since March I can honestly tell that planing in advance helped my smooth transition, especially finances. I dont have to worry like I used to about every single penny.
Best wishes!
Vera

Fund for apartment maintenance
Hi Kerry, I pay monthly service charge/maintenance fees.
While I was working and had income I was upgrading my things in my flat: new kitchen, bathroom, flooring, replacing the doors, etc. As per today there is nothing to be done, but in case of emergency or an upgrade I have a solid emergency fund to cover for me a few years.
I hope I answered your question.
Thank you
❤❤
You've definitely earned those boots and pedicures! ❤
Dear Denise,

Why did you pick Canada to retire?
Happy New Year Leslie!
Before 2009 I lived in Vancouver, had my own flat, my children are here. Retiring and returning to Canada was always a plan.
I enjoyed my life in UK, grateful for opportunities and experiences, people I met and friends I made, but my heart was always here at my beloved Canada.❤
