Whatever the squad shortcomings, it is by far the best in the league, and the other mob had a worse window. Gotta be honest, I find watching this team a real chore and I don’t just mean today (I didn’t even see it!). I miss the energy and somewhat madness of Ange’s tenure. At least it was exciting (for the most part). But hey, at least Matt O’Riley has a gaffer to chat to in the canteen!
Won a lot of league titles when Rangers weren't in the league, or weren't competitive in the league, and won an FA Cup with a Leicester side that had already won a league title a few seasons before. He bottled the league with Liverpool and has an abysmal record in Europe between Celtic, Liverpool and Leicester. I think he may have got Leicester to a Conference League quarter final or something, which would be his best European run. He's definitely a good manager, but I would say that 'elite' is a bit of a stretch. His biggest accomplishment in football is winning an FA Cup with a good Leicester team, which wasn't a huge shock given their quality at the time.

Liewell being brought back shows it all. This has the signs of the Postecoglu season which we clawed back a single digit defecit only the opposite. This season can go wrong very quickly from here.
Great analysis. For me there's three key ways to break that type of defence - wingers going outside the full back, getting to the bye line and pulling the ball back; midfielders breaking from deep and players running off the ball. We're seeing very little, if any of that. When Kyogo does make those runs off the ball, nobody reacts. It's all a bit staid at the moment.

Ange was getting much more out of an almost identical group of players. After scoring with 5 minutes (+10) to go all we had to do was retain possession (like we had been doing for the previous 85 minutes of the game), there was no need for Taylor to do anything smart on 88 minutes, keep it simple and pass the ball around our own half run the clock down and pull them out and if it opens up we probably would have scored another. Keep in mind key players not on the bench: Abada, Maeda, Hatate Poor refereeing - Ho getting pulled in the box not checked on VAR. Kelly still holding the ball outside the box on 61 minutes, waved away. Overall I'd say refereeing was ok. Brendan, most of what happened on the pitch today he can't control, speed, intensity, creativity, accuracy of passing, BUT should have got Nat Philips on and gone 5 at the back after we scored. Why do people keep calling rogers an elite manager what has he done
Won a lot of league titles when Rangers weren't in the league, or weren't competitive in the league, and won an FA Cup with a Leicester side that had already won a league title a few seasons before. He bottled the league with Liverpool and has an abysmal record in Europe between Celtic, Liverpool and Leicester. I think he may have got Leicester to a Conference League quarter final or something, which would be his best European run.
He's definitely a good manager, but I would say that 'elite' is a bit of a stretch. His biggest accomplishment in football is winning an FA Cup with a good Leicester team, which wasn't a huge shock given their quality at the time.
He's taken a great squad.

For me there's three key ways to break that type of defence - wingers going outside the full back, getting to the bye line and pulling the ball back; midfielders breaking from deep and players running off the ball. We're seeing very little, if any of that. When Kyogo does make those runs off the ball, nobody reacts. It's all a bit staid at the moment.

Totally agree with the guys, the constant changing of the midfield week on week is getting beyond the pale and we can only hope we have a decent January window even if it means getting some decent loan signings in to get us through to May and win the league, next summer will determine if the board will really back Brendan or not but he too needs to take responsibility for some of the displays so far, great show as always guys HH

Our recruitment in the summer was horrendous, back Rodgers or lose him. He hasn’t got a magic wand, we need to add quality like he’s said time and again, it’s okay trying these project players in the league no issue with that, but when we need someone to change a game or take the game by the scruff and make things happen there isn’t one player on the bench who stands out. The recruitment under Ange and recruitment under Rodgers is night and day. January will be massive but it’s a hard window to make things happen. The money is there

I can't get behind the constant moaning about the board and the signings. It's not that I disagree, necessarily. But the team we put out today cost exponentially more than what Motherwell put out. We're more than good enough to beat them easily, in terms of talent. Apart from O'Riley, everyone is playing worse this season than last. You have to look at the manager.

After scoring with 5 minutes (+10) to go all we had to do was retain possession (like we had been doing for the previous 85 minutes of the game), there was no need for Taylor to do anything smart on 88 minutes, keep it simple and pass the ball around our own half run the clock down and pull them out and if it opens up we probably would have scored another.
Keep in mind key players not on the bench: Abada, Maeda, Hatate
Poor refereeing - Ho getting pulled in the box not checked on VAR. Kelly still holding the ball outside the box on 61 minutes, waved away.
Overall I'd say refereeing was ok.
Brendan, most of what happened on the pitch today he can't control, speed, intensity, creativity, accuracy of passing, BUT should have got Nat Philips on and gone 5 at the back after we scored. [on saying that we are all smart arses in hindsight]
Johnston 7/10 slightly better than Palma in my opinion, he dribbled into the box and couldn't get any bend on his shot whereas Palma probably would of scored it but not been able to dribble to that position, we looked like we'd score with MJ and he got us a penalty.
Palma 6/10 unlucky to slip on 60 minutes, penalty poor, he's got a good excuse on international duty and long haul flight
Hart 5/10 should of done better with the corner needs to catch or punch it, needs to command the box like Packie.
Calmac 4/10 excuse back from international duty, should be rested but his role should be doing a lot more, when is the last time he bossed the midfield, played a ball into space for a player to run onto? Sideways passing, not creating enough. Defensively no composure on loose balls gives away possession, conceded the corner on 89 minutes.
Oh 5/10 he's the unluckiest striker can't see him improving, the header wide from Taylor's cross is poor, there was shirt pulling but he rotates his head too much it was always going wide. Hanging around the goalkeeper doesn't achieve anything when we are chasing the game just plays into the opposition game plan to run the clock down.
Taylor 3/10 not good enough in defence, no physicality, looks better going forward than defence
Yang 6/10 Didn't take it to the byline enough, should of got his sitter of a header on target at least
MOR 6/10 Not enough quality today, no link up play with Kyogo, great one two with Ralston on 98 should of got his sitter of a header on target at least
Holm 5/10 Not enough quality like MOR, lacked creativity
Turnbull 5/10 ok he did better with the penalty but again one twos through balls, all missing
Scales 8/10 solid performance

Ralston 6/10 he at least took it to the by line
Kyogo -/10 but not getting enough service, he's available through the middle it's tight and needs accuracy but it's doable and then we always opt to play wide, he's a passenger in these games with 10 opposition players in their own box that tower over him

Hart can't continue after this season, he's never been great at Celtic but his forms dipping.
