    Jon, do NOT under any circumstances retreat from that starbase. You CAN hold out against that fleet with the help of the starbase, but only if you stand with it. Scorched-earth doesn't work in Stellaris, you need to ensure that they don't take you on piecemeal.
    Also, check your tactics setting under Policies, there should be something there, I believe it's the default, that gives you +10% firerate in friendly territory. Use that, it's excellent. Other than that, STAND WITH YOUR STATION.

    If you pull the fleets back from the spacestation a bit, with the bigger fleet slightly ahead of the smaller, they will engage the Spuxulac after their fleets have already targetted the station. This will give them a small window of unanswered fire, and might well allow you to defeat any invaders, especially with that badass cruiser being able to focus their ships down really quickly. It'll cost you corvettes, and if the cruiser goes down, you're done, but it's your best chance to scrap those fleets. If you do, you can probably defend your way to victory

Also, negotiate with crime overlord gives +10 stability for only 25 influence which is amazing especially when you have only two worlds.

    Tips and corrections:
    The AI is now willing to accept 1-system gaps in its empire , so the Natfankan might send a construction ship through Rym to build an outpost at Saldar.
    I'm pretty sure that rejecting diplomatic requests only gives an opinion penalty when you refuse subjugation or don't join someone in war.
    If you gave the trapped science vessel a "return" command, it would have done the emergency FTL jump to get home.
    I strongly recommend that you colonize the relic world before you complete the archaeological dig.

    • @Failuigi41
      @Failuigi41 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know it's 3 years later and you probably don't care, but;
      In my experience, the extra range to ship weapons only starts to matter once bigger ships enter the equations. Corvettes, which are all the Empires have at this point, are so fast that they'll close the gap and make the range buff irrelevant nigh immediately. So even if the shield debuff is barely helping, it's still helping more (especially cuz Jon has an unhealthy love of Lasers, which are bad at handling shields)

    Seriously if I was Jon I would've accepted the commercial pact from those guys up further north and built a branch office there because you can't afford to be picky with who you set up a branch office with, I'd say at least 25+ trade resource would be sufficient enough, and you can also become friendly with them, thus allowing for stronger alliances and moreso, you have a small compact empire with at least three colonies. You are playing a megacorp which basically means you are playing an empire that's all about making money. Now your alliances will help you in regards to warfare, if you make sure that your allies and yes I would say a secondary megacorp would be a good ally to have because then they won't do hostile takeovers of your branches. So accept things like commercial pacts from almost every empire that offers so that you can start expanding your trade empire, that's how I think Jon should be playing.

    I was playing Stellaris myself whilst watching, you're in for some fun with the Rubricator! Just be warned that it does give other empires a right to declare war on you with the war aim of claiming the Relic. Its one of the Relics this is possible with. Well done to survive this far, I tried a similar run earlier in the week and I didn't last long! Its pure luck as to when someone declares war on you.
    Oh, and don't put too much faith in defensive platforms, they're flimsy as flip, its a waste of alloys imo, unless you manage to get them ranked up with powerful weaponry and end up with a rating much higher than any attacking fleet. I tend to combine with them with my own fleet so that the fleet has cover.
    I'm guessing we won't see a Live stream of this at some point then!? ;)

    When you set AI aggression high, one of the effects is increasing the chances of spawning a random militarist, xenophobe, or exterminator empire.

    I know I'm late to this series but hold on... Jon merged the Derelict Cruiser with another fleet! How did he do that? Is it a fix in one of the DLC that I don't have? Is it a mod? I have acquired that cruiser twice now and it just won't merge for any reason. I can't reinforce it with any ship design, including superior designs.
    Also again a little late but, @ 59:00 when a fleet is trapped just click on the "Return" button. This will open a prompt that will allow an emergency FTL jump. You will get a warning about potential damage and how the fleet won't return for some time.
    And Shirley :) you are aware that matching a researcher having the same expertise as the desired tech is faster than picking any other leader, e.g. A research leader having the Particles expertise is 15% faster when researching techs that are also of the "Particle" category. Matching research leaders to the tech requires a little bit of micro-managing but is definitely worthwhile.

    Even though I just started playing this game, you make me feel like I'm playing it correctly because I also always say, "this is probably a bad idea" with every decision.
