All Bass is just a DI with no EQ, except the example with the pick, which has a Darkglass Parallax overdrive on it.
Fingerstyle and Pick examples are originals, and the slap example is from RHCP - Aeroplane.

I liked the stock pickup!
That said, after hearing your reasons for changing it, that makes sense. An instrument must be comfortable to really enjoy playing.
I also liked the sound of the stock pickup :)
I think the overall sound will improve once I put decent strings on it. The stock strings might be another thing holding this bass back
If I may add to that, I have the same Bass and (to my ears) a set of DR Sunbeams really bought out the best in this Bass; the Bass comes stock with D'addarios, (but not the "good" D'addarios). I tried a few different sets, but when I put the DR Sunbeams on there, Game Changer! Excellent Bass indeed, Sounds a bit cliche now but, Unbelievably good for the price. Thanks for sharing.👊🏿

I liked those Delanos.
I liked the stock but for me the Donlis pickup was amazing, it had a lot of body and I can see myself using it, it was similar to the original but it had a little bit more of the frecuencies the original lacked
I didn't liked the Delano pickup personally, it sounded way too bright
Nice video and comparison. You helped me to decide to stay with stock pickup for some time, until I decide to replace with some really good pickup. All of this reviewed pickups, stock including, sounds somehow "hollow", deep "H" string especially. They are not tragically bad, but I think that this bass may sound way better with some higher quality pickup. I'd like to stay with passive. Any suggestion? Greetings, and thank you for your effort.
Maybe it's because all of it were DI sounds and with an amp the hollow sound could be dialed out.
But other than Delano, Aguilar makes great Musician sized pickups
Hey Georg! Nice comparison! As the fix of the stock pickup, would it be possible to put a shim underneath the pickup cover so that it sits higher and the poles are not being so annoying?
that's a good idea. The plastic cover is glued on at the bottom, but I'll check if I can get it loose.
ok, so I checked and it was impossible to remove the pickup cover. But I added glossy epoxy on the top of the pickup, which levels out the pole pieces. So the stock pickup is now back in the bass. I'll show that in my next video (Stingray Refinish Video)
I have same bass! Also 5 string. In sunburst. I've change string spacing with dremel and 3d printed spacers (spacing is uneven across strings now). Change electronics to 1- vol with push pull series/parallel (usually prefer parallel), 2-tone with push pull with 2 different caps, 3 - bass cut PushPull with bypass all electronics. Want to change the pickup but only to a custom made (especially after this video hehe). And stock strings were very bad on mine.

@ Yes, stock spacing was to tight for me. Now spacing between side of a string to another side is same, but strings themselfs are thick, so spacing between centers is uneven.

Hello. I am also a member of proud Harley Benton Bass owner Club (I have tree of them). Among other, I have this bass. Because of the same problem with string spacing, I like your mod very much, and I'd like to do the same. Do you have some documentation, instruction or video of that process? May I ask you to send me some links or photos? Also, I understand that you will go after some custom pickup. Why custom pickup, did you have tried some factory replacement pickup (DiMarzio, Saymor...)? Thanks in advance.
@@djolemadzarevic Hi! My mod is a little ugly and not finished, I should iterate on it, but it's good enough for me ;) There are no instructions or docs, I've never seen anyone doing this. I can send you pics, just tell me where. Stock pickup is actually not bad, I don't want to change it for something "factory", right now I'm digging into custom pickups, so it's just an opportunity for me to make another one. The only "good" reason to change pickup is because poles are not perfectly under strings.
Do you notice any quality problems like a tresholds, electronics or strings action ? Can you made string action low ?
I don`t know is this a correct word but also you made shielding ?
Setting it up with relatively low action was no problem (it always depends on the playing style).
I didn't add any shielding. I don't think the cavity had shielding (I'd need to check). But shielding is easy to add in case of problems.
@ Ok thx for info. I asking about shielding because i need to cover my electronics and pickups basin in Maruszczyk who cost 1000 Euro :D they don`t do nothing.
@@vulpesinculta7074 if the electronics do nothing then there might be an issue with the wiring in general. But shielding the cavity is also a good idea.
