    ABOUT..
    Rebecca is a passionate Singer-Songwriter/Vocal coach/mentor /impressionist/photographer/creative junkie /self- development lover not a hater.
“I want to motivate and inspire others to follow their dreams…corny? Well maybe but it’s true. So what’s motivating me?? I had a huge tumour removed summer 2016. However, despite not being able to walk for a few weeks, and feeling generally awful…. It has made me create and do what I love! It wasn’t an easy time but I won’t let fear dictate my life. I didn’t think ‘why me’, there are plenty of horrific issues people have to deal with…it’s not always smooth sailing. It’s true when you hear, ‘Life is short’, the crazy thing is, I am glad it happened…I appreciate life even more and try to practice gratitude everyday…It’s so easy to get caught up with the little things…and I do sometimes, but look at the bigger picture, will it matter in a year or two…we are all specks of dust…Also thank you for all your support. It means a lot. I have suffered from anxiety from the past and self confidence, (yeah hard to see now right) didn’t think I was ‘good, or worthy enough’ but I feel I have a new lease of life, don’t really care as much and want to show you guys what I have! : ) You are all awesome and without you, there would be no channel.

Her singing technique is so dangerous, she is literally on a vocal high wire with no safety net, and that's what makes her ridiculously exciting to listen to. Also, the authenticity is staggering; so raw and visceral. She's not beating the listener into submission with her technique (like some really famous divas do, naming no names!), saying "Listen to me, aren't I great" Isn't my voice epic!". There is nothing smug about this performance. And even though the song, the delivery and the subject matter are all really challenging, it's that authenticity which makes you come back time and time again, and never get tired of her. Truly amazing.

Sometimes I get bored when performers use too many riffs and runs. However, Yebba didn't use them gratuitously. Each one felt purposeful. She made heartbreaking sobs into hauntingly beautiful music. I've seen this so many times and I just can't get over it.
Love your reaction. I hit subscribe as soon as you exorcized the demons. 😅

A little more background since you asked a question that doesn't seem to have been answered yet:
Yes, she wrote the song, this was actually her first time performing an original live. She had previously just done open-mic style covers and some jazz singing. Five days after this recording, her mother committed suicide, which is when she chose YEBBA (her name Abbey backwards) as her stage name, because her mother used to call her that.
Following that, she wrote "Evergreen" about her mother. Her most recent video, The Beats 1 Performance, is recorded in the church she used to attend with her mother before she passed (that she subsequently stopped attending, until choosing to record the performance there). Knowing that makes the amazing performance even better, if you watch it.

Her technique is unbelievable (she's obviously an INCREDIBLY well-trained vocalist), but the emotional connection is so powerful. She clearly almost cried during that song and it's quite obvious she's singing from experience. This is one of the most moving musical experiences I've ever watched.

As you can hear Yebba is much like Jessie J in that meaning they grew up with black folk churches. She enlist the clark sisters as one of her inspirations hence she sort of preaches when she sis (can i get a witness something she will normally say she is in her feelings). Majority of black folks are the reason why the music industry sounds the way it does now particular those folks from church backgrounds. Gospel music has played a major role in rnb and soul music and in this case Yebba

Yebba is so generously candid about the emotional origin of every single note I feel like a voyeur in her personal world.
She makes some of the most exclusively skilled techniques seem as spontaneous and natural as crying.
The vocal agility of Oleta Adams, the range of Prince, the command of George Michael, the passion of Etta James, the rawness of Janis Joplin and the timbral versatility of I-don’t-know-who.
    The acclaim here is deserved.

i have seen many reaction of this and voice teacher, vocal coach´s and other speaking of technik´s and her tone´s, but no one seems to notice it, of course she has wailing tones, the story and the emotions she puts into it (heartache and anger) say it, what does a lovesick person do, cry, she has the sobs, the sighs, the whimpering, the bitter gasp and the pressed exhalation, transformed into tones of their singing. In other words "she cries the song in sorrow and rage" and the emotions she puts into it makes it so effective, remember and watch the performance again, you'll realize how impressive the song and her singing really is

I enjoyed your reaction and was impressed that you could mimic/reproduce her sounds and runs. You kept saying you could go on all day, but then you didn’t. Too bad because I wanted to hear your thoughts, which is why I watched this video. So I wish you would have expounded on her technique and your other thoughts.

I think my favourite thing about this video is that, in previous videos of yours that I've watched, there's a lot of pausing to comment, but in this one it seemed like at the beginning you forgot you were filming a reaction video and just got totally lost. I just love it because I've seen the Yebba video about 5000 times and I love that you had the same reaction I had the first time I saw it, which was just being completely awestruck
