  • The Royal Air Force (RAF) Boeing Chinook HC.6 display at RAF Fairford on the Saturday of The Royal International Air Tattoo 2023. The aircraft used is ZA683 which is based with 18 Squadron and the RAF Chinook display team, at RAF Odiham.
This Boeing HC-47 Chinook (HC.6 is its Royal Air Force designation), was assigned the United States test registration of N37030, before its delivery as a Chinook HC.1 to the Royal Air Force in 1981. It was upgraded to an HC.2 in 1995, to an HC.4 in 2012 and to an HC.6A in 2018.
While on a training mission at 2230 hours on 28th July 2020, its front end, cockpit section and front port side were damaged when it flew into overhead power lines, close to Berthlwyd Farm, near Llangynin, Carmarthenshire, Wales.

It force landed in a field with damage to the nose, all three front cockpit windows and to the port front fuselage and a cabin window, caused by it striking three power cables. One crew member sustained minor injuries from broken cockpit window glass. The Chinook was repaired on site and flown out for further repairs on 6th August 2020.
