I can't grow my hair too long or it becomes a rat's nest. I have curly hair and I wish I could grow it longer. My hair was just to the middle of my back if it was pulled straight. But it was becoming such a rat's nest such a short time that my hair was getting quite damaged so I cut about 6 in off. When the hair is curled it just touches my shoulders but if it was straight it's about an inch or two beyond being able to be put in a ponytail.
