    Quick update from Fractal:
    "We’re sorry to notify you that Ridge has been discovered to have issues maintaining signal integrity at PCIe 4.0 bandwidth with certain hardware configurations.
    Our recommendation for users experiencing instability in PCIe 4.0 mode is to configure their motherboard BIOS settings to PCIe 3.0 mode. We are developing a solution to enable full PCIe 4.0 compatibility, but until that is ready, we will update our listings to reflect that only PCIe 3.0 compatibility is guaranteed at this time."
    We will update you all when we get updates.

      Thanks for the vid. Did you do enough testing with AMD VGA to encounter any issues with the original riser? I'm running similar config with B550i, 5600x, and RX6800 original riser is tripping the entire system after sleep mode when PCIe config in bios is set to auto/gen4. With PCIe set to gen3 all seems fine. I'm expecting a replacement board yet I'm curious if you encountered such problem with RX and/or RTX VGA too.

      An (expensive) alternative I guess is to buy a 5cm PCIE Gen4 riser cable?

      I built my pc last year but now I am shopping around for a new GPU... I didn't realise they had issues with the 4.0 bandwidth?
      Edit.. I have emailed them and got an instant response... Looks like they are still waiting on an updated part.

    I think you could put the 4090 FE perfectly well. Just with two changes:
    1 - Remove those two fans and put the 4090, they are counter productive and totally unnecessary. I bet the 4090 will never throttle down without them, as its own cooler is highly s over-engineered
    2 - Put an SFX 850W, such as the one from Silverstone (which comes with the new 12+4 pin cable , and you are good to go.

    Slightly undervolted and power limited 5800X3D with Noctua low profile cooler combined with shroud modded and undervolted RTX 4090 would be a pretty cool combination in this case - if you can purchase 600 W power cable somewhere, that would fit and doesn't burn instantly… 😅

    Incredibly helpful, mate. My wife's ITX died this week, so I'm going to put a new PC together over the weekend and this case is what I decided on, along with a spare 3080 I have laying around. This vid hit on every concern and questions I had. Think what I'm going to do is see how the temps are with just one fan on the GPU to avoid that fan issue.

  • @hrod9393
    @hrod9393 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    The extra fans mean nearly nothing, remove them. If you double up on fans and they are not matched then all you are doing is introducing air flow blockage.
    The FE 4090 is amazing size and we should somewhat be pissed off that AIB for some odd reason were locked into so much larger coolers for their cards. This is even more of a complaint when we look at the FE 4080.

  • @keyboard_g
    @keyboard_g ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Better air flow would be to ditch the big fans, let the gpu breath, 2 small fans at the front pulling through the dust filter, 1 small van exhausting at the back slot on either side. Create a directional flow.

  • @wiggenvan
    @wiggenvan ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Honestly, you're probably getting worse performance for your gpu if you're mounting it right on top of fans like that anyway (different case if it was shroudless). The combination of the two different fans stacked on top of each other will create turbulence, which will both make it noisier and prevent air flow through the gpu making it hotter. You would either want to remove the gpu fans and mount the 120/140's directly to the gpu heat sink, or (especially with the fe cards), just don't use the case fans there. Since the case allows flow through directly, the 4090 would probably perform exceptionally since all of it's airflow is completely unhindered. No reason to put case fans next to it in the first place.

    • @siewkimng1085
      @siewkimng1085 ปีที่แล้ว

      For a 3+ slot card that is going to sit flush to the case, probably no need to use the case fan. But for smaller 2 slot cards, I think the case fan will help.

  • @keyboard_g
    @keyboard_g ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Its bad to leave those stock fans in right up on the video cards. Air flow turbulence will be awful. Of course remove for a 4090. Better to let them pull in fresh air directly.

    The Fractal site shows it accepts a max GPU thickness of 57mm with and 82mm without the fans. The issue then is the length, 325mm with and 335mm without SSD, and height of 125mm with and 137mm without top fans. Seems there is decent wiggle room and should (hopefully) fit a non-FE GPU, as the FE's are either near impossible to get or not available in all countries.
    I currently have the Node 202 and managed to fit a 3080Ti in there with 2x 15mm thick Noctua fans underneath. It's almost as if the card was made for that case with its perfect fit. I found that only the INNO3D brand fits.

At this size, getting it 5mm thicker wouldn't change the profile to much and it would allow for thicker GPUs and taller CPU Coolers too. Great case though.

    Don't you see guys that it's very stupid to use a high voltage cpu on a tiny compressed case like that? I would recommend to use a low voltage cpu to get less heat as much as i can that will allow the cpu temp to be mainted by this poor cooling system .. or idk maybe i am Wrong 😊

    • @A2KMedia
      @A2KMedia  ปีที่แล้ว

      hey, yep that is exactly the point. There is a limit on what kind of cpu you can place in this case based on the cooler size. lower power is going to be the better choice

    If you wrap a 4090 FE in two layers of duct tape, you should get a similar result :)

    So many mistakes were done by building this pc in this small form factor lol

      @@A2KMedia remove all brackets and screws before putting all components inside the case I love how you just slip the gpu knowing you could unscrew the top part before installing the gpu, you mentioned running the wires at the back of the mobo but didn’t do it at the first place. you didn’t care reading the manual before making the video

    Esto es una tontería; ¿para qué intentan colocar piezas de gran tamaño? es que acaso no han considerado que éste case es de factor mini itx y de las pequeñas. Quien gusta de armar pc pequeñas debe de considerar que las piezas a utilizar serán las más pequeñas posibles.

    • @A2KMedia
      @A2KMedia  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's to test the maximum potential of a small case. If you watched the video, you would've seen that for the finished build we actually used a smaller card.
