Where the hell is the outro? It's like listening to a snappy-joke without a drum-snare to accompany it.
Hilariously derailing one liner! *SILENCE*
The content exists.
It's just 'coming soon' and packaged in DLC chucks.
And EA wonders why it is so hated.
They just don't seem satisfied with the hole one off payment system that has worked so well for many years,
why release a full game when you can release half of it at full price and then charge extra for the rest of its content,.. effectively holding it ransom until you give them more cash
story should not be fucking dlc
I don't think EA wonders at all, they like being a money hungry enterprise, who feeds on people's salary :P Just look at what they did with SWToR....unlock dungeons WEEKLY...yeah, nope, uninstall game...
*****
good too know , i don't actually have titan fall, i want it though. I'm glad to hear that ea are being reasonable-ish for a change.
Daniel Scott You poor poor poor buggers. 2018 here and the barrel is getting deeper.
when the video ends. everything is quiet for a second then i can here my self going "Bow BOWBOWBOOOO Bow BUHBOOBOWBOOO..."
"Titanfall: It's like playing Mecha Tom and Jerry" - Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw, 2014
"Mecha Tom & Jerry" sounds like the best video game ever.
@@PrinsaVossum Agreed.
Damn it, bring back the damn end credits already!
Watch his videos in the Escapist website then.
It's got everyone out of sorts now. We're like Pavlov's dogs salivating at the expectation of hearing that generic metal start up so we can read funny quips in the credits.
Like i said before, MY EARS STILL DONT WANT TO BE RAPED.
You know, it's a win-win for you if you start watching the vids on the Escapist's website. Videos are uploaded a week in advance to their TH-cam release (inFAMOUS: Second Son is already up) AND you get the end credits. And all you have do is type in a different url.
TLB95Switchblade
type in a url? I havent done that for years!
It did something different which made it stand out, not as much the black dot on the white paper as the coffee ring on the magnolia table.
It doesn't really deserve the full price, but it's at least different enough to be something that stands out on the newest console generation.
These newer vids have gotten to the point where I need to have the ZP theme opened in another tab for the outro.
"One rather odd bloke asked if I was Jewish." I'm fucking dying!!!!! XD XD XD XD
Now it's five bucks. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
And the DLC is free lol
+William Blazkowicz I still play it
+Sir Anonymous Same
+William Blazkowicz
Still able to get full matches reliably while living in Australia.
Mfw I paid full price at launch
I was playing Dark souls and got invaded in Anor Londo, My opponent and i bowed to one another. Then the fight was on! After we had landed some hit's it was clear i was stronger and was going to win, so for some reason he did the nicest thing ever and gave me 2 twin humanity's and banished himself after waving good bye. It made me cry a tear because he was so nice and sportsmanlike.
Behold: a game with first person jumping that yahtzee doesnt complain about.
MrLego3160, Good lord the end times are upon us!
MrLego3160 because it isnt platforming
and not forced
I bet the new CoD will have big robot dogs you can jump in.
***** Only after the first DLC. COD: Big Robot Fish III will introduce customizable fins and scales once you get the hardened seasons pass for a nominal.
Well, Ghosts is getting DLC where Snoop Dogg announces your kills. I guess they're going downhill fast.
*****
Navy Marine Mammal Program, where they trained Dolphins to look for mines and other dangers. It wont be long till we are riding Dolphins in to battle.
Jack Sparks
I am lost for words.
***** Yeah, to be honest they could have picked something a lot worse as DLC than Snoop being the announcer of kills. The only problem is it just seems like a gimmick that will wear off in a week.
I like how people don't realize $80 is a quarter of the price for a ps4
I like how people don't realize that a quarter of 400$ is 100$
Joop Abt So true
Joop Abt You know what i mean, $80 is pretty close to $100
Sunny Nagam Yes 80 and 1000 are mere decimals apart, just round it on up
Cooper Sheahan I think he meant $100
Titanfall is a technical masterpiece. It runs flawlessly on high settings. The guns are all useful but different. The maps are very good except for 1 or 2 of them.
You must give credit where credit is due.
But I feel like hit detection or time-to-kill is all over the place and I don't know. One moment I take an enemy down in 3 shots, next moment they soak up an entire clip and keep running.
It's not, I'd define a technical masterpiece as having very minimal flaws within its design, and seeing as though the majority of the game was flawed at release I'd say what you're saying is incorrect, the "story" of the game is very hard/annoying to keep up with (this is a big deal if you're talking about a game being a technical masterpiece as incorporating a story into a game is the foundation you build everything on, well 9 out of 10 times anyways.) The characters are un interesting and cliché too which again would fall under poor game design (don't forget it's the whole package, level design, story, character design, gameplay mechanics etc)
Every time I go to play it seems they have patched something else in or moved something elsewhere, which going back to your statement is definitely NOT the mark of a masterpiece if you're still finishing and fine tuning everything after release, I get some bugs need to be fixed, but they've reworked so much and it's not even been out a year. That being said for all its flaws i do agree with you, it's an insanely fun game and I do enjoy playing it every now and then, masterpiece though, it is not.
oKApplejack Runs great oh high settings, guns are all useful but different. Map design never feels bad.
Technical masterpiece. You didn't counter anything I said, you just started bringing up things like story and patches.
Philp Yung the reason for the time to kill/hit detection issue is because the net code could use a little work. Not as bad as cod but they hide it behind lag compensation. It appears to run well on high settings but response times vary so widely that it results in combat issues. The game feels repetitive and unrewarding most of the time as well. The game does look good but that's all I can really say about it. That and they did a great job with the mechs.
Nope, don't think I can take the absence of an outro anymore.
(I do not yet know whether this means I will switch to watching on the Escapist website or just forgo it entirely)
"Most people said " Nope", Some people said "WAR" and then started quoting Edwin Star lyrics, and one rather odd bloke just asked me if I was Jewish." - Yahtzee
"one bloke asked if I was jewish" lmao
Well, looks like he REALLY loves Dark Souls...
1:11 - 1:27 It's EA. What did you expect?
This was 6 years ago. Not everyone knew what they would become
@@sineadthomas2024 EA was just as bad then as they are now.
The multiplayer is nice, but I agree with the review that the game lacks content, the price is absurd. A $20 or $30 price would be okay
$20? The game certainly offers more than that
The campaign is complete worthless, it´s just a couple of multiplayers modes that are nice specially Attrition.
That´s what an only multiplayer only, normally charges, cs go was $20.
Sure in this case they could charge $30 for more updated textures and some new ideas like the titans.
But $60 + the premium is insane
Andy DiPirro id say more like 40-45$.
In the UK its £39 compared to approximately £56 for all other games. I am annoyed there's basically no single player. But oh well. For a £17 price reduction I can't complain. Plus, although a campaign is nice, its the multiplayer that has more people playing now days ( and its on the rise, quite dramatically)
Andy DiPirro
Not really. The campaign is an intro sequence and then a multiplayer game with some people talking into my ear while all the players do as well. I have no sense as to what's actually being said or done in this story. I like the fact that they tried, and I won't say they shouldn't have done it, but the fact that they charged full price for half of a game, is shit. 20-30 for a single player game, 20-30 for a multiplayer game, 50-60 for the two combined. That's how it should be.
I do like Titanfall. I think it's pretty good in gameplay, setting and aesthetics, but by god, you hit the nail on the head here. For some reason I always click on these videos expecting much much worse but I always end up laughing in agreement at the end...
4:42
"A jewelry-encrusted plate cover is lifted to reveal a single canola in the middle of a massive white platter.
A tasty canola, it's true.
And there are plenty of seconds to be had.
But do you really want to eat it when it's perfectly proportion [sic] for shoving up EA's ass?"
XD
I must admit, sometimes I watch Zero Punctuation episodes of games I actually don't like, just so I can hear Yahtzee put shit all over them.
styk0n why wouldn't you? He's funny and almost everything you hate will be validated by his opinions ^_^
It's like finding the perfect friend that hates the same things you do!
0:41-0:46, I find it pretty cool when people do that in any game, makes you give them a lot of respect.
I've paid 75€ on this game (game day one purchase + season pass). I regret nothing, +400h in 2y and it's still fun.
Those last 10 seconds explain Titanfall so perfectly
What the....Where is our beloved outro!?
R.I.P the Back to the Future ride at Universal :(
So basically this game is the best thing an EA game can aspire to be.
there was a titanfall 2 ad before this :D
It's COD with mechs. I don't understand why there's so much denial. It doesn't feel or look different AT ALL. Lol. Even when you're in a mech it still feels like COD. It's so disgusting.
The game mechanics are not very similar to cod. once you add in the parcour aspect and mechs its a completely different experience. If anything a MUCh faster paced COD. I tried switching between the two and its very hard because COD just felt boring after Titanfall
js1joshy
I guess its like COD in the sense that its a 1st person twitch shooter with similar controls...but Yahtzee pretty much summed it up for us. definitely not worth $60 for me, I guess some people like that kind of stuff.
js1joshy cod felt boring before titanfall.
It's because Call Of Duty was getting so repetitive, and while on the surface Titanfall looks a lot like it, it has enough new elements to make it fun. In many ways the reason its so popular is because it is a breath of fresh air
Lunar Trooper yea not much of a difference between MW2 and Ghost
I love the allusion of the game (and in my opinion most mainstream FPS's) to an amusement park ride, because its sole purpose is to entertain the audience, although admittedly you can see this as either a good or bad thing.
Considering video games are an entertainment industry, isn't the goal of most games to entertain the audience? I mean, there's something to be said about artistic endeavors, but even then, entertainment is still a major, if not primary, goal of almost all media, especially mass-produced media.
I suppose, although when I say its sole purpose is to entertain I see it as the game essentially fellating the player until s/he inevitably ejaculates in a mist of his or her own self-indulgence amidst sounds and colours, which again is fine if one simply wants to feel happy from a game.
I agree that entertainment is a major goal of all media including games, but I seem to notice two types of games.
In one, the entertainment is not only the primary but the only value (as I say, imo this is most popular FPS's. Which is fine.) and in the other there is also an aspect of challenging the player mentally, provoking interesting and controversial ideas.
I don't really think either of these are 'better' types of games, but I just noticed and thought an 'amusement park ride' is a good way of differentiating one from the other.
I guess entertainment is a very vague word to use, I basically meant 'making the player happy from instinctive grounds (nice graphics, sounds, shooting things), as opposed to intellectual grounds'.
TJForceIX It is, but for a price of a full game, which has a good single player and a good multiplayer gameplay experience. And This game lacks the former..you it should cost half the price...
Péter Lakatos
Using that logic, so should most recent multiplayer-focused shooters. Because all of their singleplayer campaigns are absolutely shit. The whole 'content' argument is kind of null when that content can be enjoyed for hundreds of hours.
Spongebob: You like Titanfall, don't you Yahtzee?
Its funny how you can replace all the times he says Titanfall with Battlefront and you very well might just back the Battlefront review.
Titanfall is amazing, hands down the best FPS online game I've ever played. I'd rather have a great online or single player game than a game that has the other forced upon it.
I'm glad that you think it was worth eighty dollars.
Incidentally, I have the best chocolate bar in the entire world in my hands right now. It can be yours for 60 dollars.
Guitarzan1919 The thing is that if you enjoyed the game, it's more because of the effort you put into enjoying the game rather than the developers. It's like saying that you enjoyed playing a game of soccer and praising the inventor of the game and the person who set up the game for you to play it because you enjoyed it. The fact remains that the reason why you enjoyed playing soccer is because of the community surrounding the game, your own personal willingness to enjoy the game, and your friends/strangers commitment to enjoying the game with you. It has no story, it has very little variety, and despite having a very good multiplayer that does provide the fun I desire, it's simply not worth $60.
If you took away the community, if the world ended tomorrow and you were the only person left and that was the only game left, you wouldn't find nearly as much enjoyment out of it. part of that would be because the world ended and everyone you've ever loved died, but the other part would be in the way that the game is designed.
If the game was $20 I wouldn't have a problem with it. Big robots, fun shooting excitement, it sounds like a game I would enjoy. Even $40 is too much for a game like this, simply because it's multiplayer only.
Compared to a game like Bioshock, or Half-life, or Arkham City which rewards the person seeking a single-player experience by providing hours of story, fun levels/set-pieces, and a great online community, Titanfall falls short.
It's always fun to say "You're projecting", it seems to be the default internet 'Smart-guy' thing to do. In this case, i'm going to say "You're projecting your desire to stuff this delicious candy-bar up your ass"
XoxeroThePoet ...no, the game, it's mechanics, how well it was balanced, how well the mechs were executed, how it looked, the game types, all were fantastic.
I put more time and effort into this game than I have many others, and with any game I would rather have an amazing single or multiplayer than having one or the other tact on. saying it was only worth $20 is insulting to how great the game really is.
Now, the bioshock series is my favorite game series, I loved arkham city, and half life was amazing for it's time. That being said, I put just as much time with titanfall as I did with these games, and had a lot of fun. It falls short of nothing. What it comes down to is an overly entitled gaming community that can't get out of it's own way to enjoy anything. I'm frankly getting really tired of gamers like you shitting on everything because it doesn't fit your exact idea of a great game.
As for the projecting comment, "Shove it up your ass" is a common phrase in the english language. Here is another common phrase, I find you to be up your own ass, and you're a gaming elitist prick.
I never said that I didn't enjoy the game. I gave reasons as to why I did enjoy and why other people would enjoy it. What I said was that I didn't think that it was worth $60, especially since it was a multiplayer-only game.
Trust me, a multiplayer game is arguably the easiest type of game to make. The fact that the graphics are good and the mechanics are good is something to be expected from AAA games, especially since the developers are paying quite a bit of money to make it so.
And that's the problem that I have with the game, or at least one of them. it's not the game itself that I dislike, it's the commerce behind it. The graphics make up for it's price tag because they look nice and idiots will pay for something that looks nice. There's no story (or a very generic story) because game stories are more difficult to make, and they tend to generate criticism and controversy that could harm sales.
To put it simply, the reason why it has no story is to boost sales. The reason why it's expensive is because they want to make as much money as quick as possible so that they can move onto their next project.
As for your argument that you'd rather have a great Single-player or a great multi-player game, I agree with that. The problem is that a multi-player game where you can simply create maps, program a set of game mechanics and allow players to play with each other requires less work than a single-player campaign. Since the effort that goes into creating a multi-player game is essentially the same work that goes into creating a single-player campaign, except without the interconnecting story, the programmed set pieces, the AI, the save/load features and everything else that is expected of a single-player campaign.
What i'm saying is that because it requires less effort to create, it should be sold at a lower price. If you had $60 worth of fun with your copy of Titanfall than that was probably more because of the effort you put in to liking the game than anything else. It's like how people tried to excuse the Metal Gear demo for selling at $40. Yes, you could spend hours striving for 100% completion or simply exploring the map. But does that really excuse the developer for selling it at a high price? Some might say yes, but I disagree.
Yes, it is a common phrase. The fact that you chose to use it is what I was referring to rather than the phrase itself. You could have told me to do something else with the candy bar, and you chose to tell me to shove it up my ass. In any case, I was making a joke and you chose to take it seriously. What does that say about you?
XoxeroThePoet again, all I'm hearing is that you're a self-entitled and your problems with the game is it doesn't have the exact things you would demand
its a pleasure to hear your commentary mr.yahtzee
I had a bad feeling for this, then everything went better than expected, I still don't see what's all the ruckus about Titanfall though. I'll get back to my cave now
Not worth the price is all.
3:56 STUTTER! YOU STUTTERED YAHTZEE!
Agree 100%
0:55 hes finally realised what his long time fan have known since the first assassin`s creed
I miss the credits.
The only reason I'm subscribed to this channel is because of this guy... Love ur review hilarious as always
It does lack some content, but it's still the most fun i've had in a video game in a long time, and considering it's the first game from a fairly small development team, i really don't care spending full price for it. Other developers may have put a lot more time into the content of games, but I'm still gonna spend a lot more time playing this game.
FANBOY ALERT
Doge Dog Nothing about his comment seemed like fanboyism to me. Just an honest account. Stop dismissing everyone who isn't a critic as a fanboy, it's old and meaningless.
dude, srsly i was jk
sry doge
Cory the hedgehog
doesn't make it any less fun
The ending of this video is pure perfection
Maybe this game should have went in the team fortress 2 route
change into a free to play hat simulator?
RandomGuy1994 !'d love to see a Titan wearing a top hat. So yes definitely.
I'm sure EA wouldn't mind the sales from hats
Call911imonfire YES
Team Fortress 2: Not pay to play, not pay to win.
Instead, it's pay to look good.
For me this game is that thing you really dont want to do every time it comes up but when you do you really enjoy it.
Can't help but feel every time that you, Mr. Yahtzee, review things that I find myself in complete agreement. I am content with this though as it just means I don't have to argue with you about it, you've got my back.
For me, the game got old pretty quick and while it's a shooter making each session different from the next due to the player-factor, there still isn't enough to keep me playing it.
Which is sad because it's a really expensive game.
You sir, have just earned yourself one subscriber. This is hilarious.
I enjoyed this game. Probably because I got it and all its DLC for 12 bucks.
BricksPicks The DLCs all free now...
+Orcaman15 I got it for 12 bucks base game and then got the DLC for free.
+Iosif I its is a good game
And the sequel now has a single player
I'm so glad I no longer have to lose my hearing to the subpar theme music at the end.
Many of us like that music.
Urbarask Praetor That isn't surprising. People also like listening to Coldplay and voting for the Nazis. You can't trust people, man.
VICEGIRLS You got that backwards in two ways. People can't trust me, additionally you can't trust people.
Shooters with FALL IN THE NAME....SHOOTERS WITH FALL IN THE NAME...... :)
ah yes the comparison review lol
out of the 4 games ive played with FALL in the name, ive liked 3 of them, unless you dont count fallout... then only 1.
What games have you played? Besides the fallouts I mean.
Splitside47 Killzone Shadow Fall and Resistance Fall of Man. ive played titanfall too but only a few times, i don't own it.
What happened to the outro? The in video advertisement isn't there (definitely a plus), but I miss the end video imp comics. They were always one of the highlights :(
You'll have to watch it on The Escapist website to see them :(
So what I got from this was: He likes it, but it lacks content, there should have been more.
If that is what he ment I agree fully. I think they could have done more, speically something with the Titans. Except for Last Tian Standing, its just another weapon in your arsenal, which can use different weapons itself that is, that can be taken down by anyone with the skill, with or without their own Titan. I know, Ive done it.
I think you're right on, except I'll add a little: "He likes it, but it lacks content, there should have been more, or it should have been priced lower."
AnotherPostcard The reason why I didnt say lower the price is because I want there to be more content to justify the price.I truly hope that they roll out a BIG update in the future that adds whats missing to put it simply.
Aragorn195 That would do it, if they don't make you buy the new content.
Aragorn195 For more money, because marketing wasn't cheap and they already have season pass for additional 25$
Aragorn195
EA releasing content for FREE on a multiplayer game they tried to shove up everyone's ass for a higher price than what was deserved? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
1:25 oh yes the buses! everywhere in Melbourne and there still here
The ending tho
games logic everything else can be the same shit over and over but as long as its a good ending it was worth the money........
212Blackace So, you're saying a good ending, that you can search on TH-cam at ANY TIME FOR FREE is worth $60?
hell no what you just stated was the point I was trying to make, most gamers (not me) will cry over a game if it doesn't have the perfect ending
Sorry, must've misread that. :/ People are dumbassess about stuff like this, so I kinda believed you might be as well.
212Blackace
Just noticed this but i was reffering to the end of the video itself.
I'm slightly proud that I could actually differentiate the shades you used
I'd pay to see a movie in which Yahtzee plays Jason.
Kids keep complaining, Game companies keep on making , Kids keep on pre-ordering, I keep on waiting for them to go on sale. Thanks kids.
I was wondering why he kept harping about the price but 80 bucks? Jesus Christ thats an investment. Its 25% cheaper here.
It's always high in Australia.
Well in Australia we not only have stupid tariffs but because we're so isolated everyone decided they'll charge even more money to get the same stuff, since its much harder to try and sneak it in from elsewhere, everything from games workshop to steam costs at least 10% more than it does anywhere else.
Well, the minimum wage in Australia is higher than in the States, so that probably has something to do with it.
1337W422102 Yeah we Australians do have a higher wage which often leads to higher prices because these corporations and such know we can pay it, but frankly it often leads to such high prices that its completely unreasonable, and well beyond whatever advantage Australian individuals may have over an American in terms of money.
*****
Meaning they're getting charged roughly the same as us, just with bigger numbers?
They are not focusing on the story at the moment, its just something that is there until future updates, they are introducing more customization and improvements on the next E3 in june which I am really excited about! But yeah at the moment its a bit dull as I have unlocked everything and there is really no point playing it until there are some more new stuff.
I got the game for a free 48 hours on Origin just to see why it was insisting so badly that I gave it a try, but I never truly intended to pay for more. Therefore, the one thing that really bothered me was how little the titans actually help. I already carry weapons that can take titans down and can do high-tech parkour. Why the hell would I hop into ANOTHER titan and make myself a much bigger and slower target?
***** The eternal question of the game...and thank GOD for the auto-titan TBH.
+ThatOneBoss You can't get one-shotted and you gain stronger attacks?
You're the kind of player I killed a thousand times by firing a rocket barrage into an open window. =P
Felix Farside *CLUSTER MISSILES!*
I was an alpha tester of Titanfall, even got a free copy when it went live. Best $50 I got on its debut day, sold it to some guys hating that they had waited for it at GameStop but was sold out.
The only reason I dislike this game is the fact that it has good things to offer, but not enough for the price.
I always thought it sucked that Titanfall was only multiplayer. It's a cool concept, but I suck at multiplayer. Games get less fun when you die every 5 seconds.
I agree, I think about the only exception is Dark Souls. Usually quick deaths make you feel like the game is either unbalanced, or that you're just an awful player (depending on if you rage or not)
***** While I haven't played it before, I think I can guess why. I think stealth games would also fit under the list of exceptions, no?
Git gud,
u just need practice, not trying to hate on you or anybody, just that practice makes perfect soooo yeah
Minecast Zyad48 There are 2 main problems that arise in these sort of multiplayer only games. Firstly, practicing is very difficult, because of the aforementioned deaths every 5 seconds. You can't really get good at these games in any realistic time frame, trust me, I have tried to get better at multiplayer games and usually it just ends up with me sitting there, no better at the game than when I started, wondering if I got anything out of the time investment. It takes a long time to get to the point where you are good at the game, and that's the second problem. A game in which you need to invest obscene amounts of time to get to the point where you can survive for more than 10 seconds is extremely inaccessible to the casual audience. Many people either don't have enough time to play or don't particularly want to spend their entire weekend staring at a respawn screen, hoping that one day they will be good enough, but never achieving anything. That being said, there are lots of games that allow one to get better, with ranked matchmaking and the like.
I love Titanfall, but Mr. Yahtzee speaketh the trutheth. Content is lacking for a full retail game. At least they actually added the ability to create private matches.
all its missing is a mediocre 5 hour campaign of bot matches and scripted helicopter chases that make fucks like you go "OHHH WOW GRAPHICS"
sod16 campaigns are there to tell you the story of a world, so yeah, I'd like a mediocre 5 hour campaign that actually tells me what the fuck is going on in this game
sod16
Expect his point was valid and you're the fuck here.
Also, the graphics are'nt impressive.
The same point was made you illiterate fuck
Maybe when your old enough to buy the shop without mummy there kid.
1:12
Believe me,it works.
I am looking at you, festive weapons from TF2.
So, it's kinda fun but in the end feels pointless. Got it.
Kind of sort of. Depending on how much you like the genre, it could last you a very long time. I think I've got about 15 hours into it now and I don't really feel like stopping any time soon.
if you go the escape magazine, in the Yahtzee uploads you can see these videos with the outro.
I love the game, but I don't enjoy it as much because of the amount of content I get, compared to the price I paid. Meanwhile I bought Aliens Colonial Marines for less than $2. Is the game a piece of shit? Oh my god yes. But I'm able to enjoy it because I paid what I feel it was worth. (I'm not saying Titanfall is worth less than $2!)
Well, if you won't say it i will :P
Its overhyped graphics doesen't mean it's good...
I don't ever see graphics as a deciding factor on whether a game is good or not. Sometimes it is necessary in order to portray a particular atmosphere (Dark Souls comes to mind), but other than that I look at what makes the gameplay fun, how well that game executes the fun gameplay, and the quantity of fun that gameplay gives before things start feeling repetitive. To me, Titanfall is lacking in the latter. All I have to look forward to is leveling up and completing challenges to regenerate so I can level up while completing slightly different challenges.
***** The perfectly polished multiplayer gameplay (with the exception of burn cards), though, IS what means it's good.
Atleast you don't play this online game called aqworlds, its 2D and people are so addicted to it over the past 4 years they spent about thousands of dollars on this pointless piece of shit, true story.
Roventheus Blacklite I know people who spent hundreds of dollars on MMO games...
It's sick.
Imagine all the REAL stuff you could've bought!
Yeah, the fact that I paid full price for this game, thereby encouraging this business model, makes me want to throw myself into the path of a double-decker, which might be difficult because we don't have double-deckers in the states.
I actually think Titanfall is one of the best multiplayer FPS I've played (I play it on PC, don't know about the console version). I got it on sale and all the DLC was free when I got it, so I agree that the price was too high for what they actually offer. However, from a gameplay point of view I'd much rather play Titanfall than a new CoD or Battlefield. Titanfall still has the best 3D movement of any FPS I've played, and the fast pace on-foot combat intermixed with the titan combat is really fun. The biggest shame is only about 350-500 people are playing it at any given time.
Console version is also very good. The controls are rather well done and even playing with a controller doesn't really affect the flow of the game.
Pvp is as described, but I love the frontier defense mode. Most are 4-6 waves of between 60-80 ai grunts, ending with a fuck-ton of robots. Then there is the ONE level with 2 waves. Wave 1... 4 units. 4. Glitch? No. Wave 2 about 250 units in a CLUSTERFUCK. I have never beat that one, but I love it.
Where's the ending?
Currently having a discussion with the cannoli up in EA's bum hole.
2:13 WHAT IS IT GOOD FOR?
This.
What an eloquent thought!
That.
SnoWidget and the other
Sam Kirby ...And then some.
Why.
Oh my gosh, it's great to remember Yahtzee's Australian as well. Titanfall is eighty bucks and on the side of every public bus ;P
Could totally use a snoop dogg voice pack.
*Morgan Freeman.
MedalpiXel
*Gassy Mexican
'Comes with hundreds of different impressions!'
"Prepare for Titanfall." is still one of the most badass things to hear in a game.
So what happens with this game when it's outdated and the servers are shut down? Wouldn't you just be left with an expensive paper-weight, provided you bought it on physical media rather than online?
....Kinda glad I decided to not get it.
You are making it sound like Titanfall is the only multiplayer-only game ever made, but there're dozens of games with no single player content. I've bought WOW and all the expansions and paid for over 6 years of subscription, I've also spent a ton of money on F2P games like LOL and DOTA2. I'm aware someday all of that money I've paid will cease to be of any value, but that doesn't mean it's not worth it. I view games as a service, not a product. I don't see any reason to worry about a game's value ten years from now as long as I am currently enjoying the process of playing it.
Rui Jiang
I *know* Titanfall isn't the only game like this, but that doesn't change the thrust of what I said.
Unlike you, when I purchase a game, I kind of expect to be able to play it ten years from now. I like buying a game, not renting it. When you get an online multiplayer only game, you're essentially paying a full-game's price for the privilege to only have so long to play it.
For that matter, I don't see how they couldn't have implemented player-on-bot matches. Team Fortress two did it just fine, so they don't really have an excuse, aside from either budget, companies rushing them, or outright laziness.
Good and don't play a game called aqworlds so many people wasted like thousands of dollars on it because its 2D pixels awe the eye, so funny.
...and you'll never have gotten to experience it! ;)
I don't think the game will ever run out of players, I've played it (at a friends) and its a lot of fun, and so long as your multiplayer only game is fun you can easily find others who will play it, just look at Natural Selection 2, I still play that game and I have no problem finding other players.
Though their system for unlocking new mechs is a piece of junk, its impossible to play campaign anymore as everyone else already has played through it, or already gave up on trying to play campaign when they couldn't find enough people, those wouldn't be too bad if you didn't need to play the campaign to unlick two Mech body variants, and if you didn't need at least 8 people to play the campaign when only three people at a time will ever show any interest.
*Mentions Australia in a negative way* WOOO STRAYA MATE!!! I legitimately get a giggle when any video presenter mentions Australia at all
I think Yahtzee should review Outlast because it can be pretty frightening
Yahtzee should review Mosnter girl quest
kalil6
Oh dear lord...now that would be something.
ArcLightShock37 it would, wouldnt it
kalil6
You win all the internets. This needs to happen.
kalil6 Best idea ever, Yahtzee, hear this guy and review Monster Girl Quest NOAW !
I love this game as much as him. He described it perfectly
So... grab it when it hits the discount bin?
***** na it will become unpopular in at least a few months
sorry, sarcasm can't really be seen well in writing. ma bad :P
DerpyMcWaffles Because Satire has never been a literary genre.

Guys we're talking about EA. They're gona keep their shit prices up as high as they can for as long as they can. Just to show, "Hey see we're not hurting, we didn't need your dirty money anyway."
justjosh0123 Yeah... I'm just going to spend my money on other games then...
Yep that about sums up my experience perfectly.
Ah, I see. They're bigger sellouts than Call of Duty.
"Here's a chocolate chip cookie! By the way, for your benefit, we've taken out the chocolate chips."
How about NO, Titanfall? How about NO?
No mention of our lord and saviour, the Smart Pistol?
Wow...its like EA never learn from their mistakes...
+njintau Not while they are making all the money they are now.
+njintau The only thing EA considers a mistake is something that doesn't bring enough money.
LG Kärlek And when they buy the rights to a game and micropayment the shit out of it the sales for that game same as the play rate drop dramatically and then they shut down the game which means they just ruined a perfectly good and decent game.
The Zero Punctuation theme sounds a lot more metal when slowed down. O_O
Maybe that bloke asked if you're jewish because you complained about the price.
Is that supposed to be a really dumb racist joke?
P.S. When team fortress 2, DOTA 2, and league of legends all exist, there is no excuse for having to pay full $60 for a multiplayer only game.
Cleath78 No, not really. Jews are often pretty tight with money.
Padruig9 what's tight with money may I ask?
Padruig9 That is kinda racist.
תומר אילן Hello Mr. Tomer, I think that the real racist is the guy who asked if he was Jewish.
lol, great review. I got this for pc just to see what all the hub bub from the reviews was about and while I did enjoy it, it sorely needs a campaign. Btw I purchased the mog world audio book from iTunes and really think it is funny, any chance of a film or perhaps a cartoon?
It looks like it's just Call of duty with giant robots.....
Well, there's a lot of parkour, too, but it's a "realistic"-style shooter. What do you expect?
That's what I thought when I saw it. But I played it and it's totally different. And the "Burn Cards" are a completely new and pretty neat feature.
It's Halo of Duty w/ bots & no SP for full price, bro. Game of the fucking Year!
colonelboston No its Unreal Tournament 3 with mechs, no varied factions, little to no story, retreating, new jumping mechanics, health regeneration, and sprinting.
***** Nothing wrong with OLD FPS games...other than the clapped out graphics...the gameplay is still damned good! its the modern mechanics that make any game that uses them an instant pile of trash IMO.
I think this rolls back to the changing game market. Big developers don't know or are unwilling to change their business models ever after steam is showing that you can still make tons of money for games that A: don't have a budget in the millions and B: don't have the standard unit price. You can develop a game in 3 months with a staff of less than 10 or even 5 people, charge 10 bucks for it and end up rolling around in profit. Oh well, if there is one consistent thing in the gaming market, it's the droning zombies in the FPS genre. So long as there's that they'll never change.
So is it like Brink but with giant robots as far as plot goes?
There is no plot, and it's nothing like brink
Norha820 You blatantly haven't played the game then. Because there is a storyline. And it is extremely similar to brink.
Kieran Owens You have apparently not played the game because the powdered story line is nothing but white noise when your inside a hectic multiplayer match, so there isn't a point of it being there. The only similarities with Brink are freerunning.
First of all. It may just be " White noise " as you describe it. But it is still a storyline. It still does have a story with set pieces and so on. Such as at the start of the mission before the final one. When a titan controlled by an NPC leads an all out assault. Smashing through an enemy stronghold wall to let the army through.
And no. not just the free-running. At all.
They are both dual faction, online-play prioritized ( And in titanfalls case, Solely online play. ) first person shooters with a distinct set of goals that must be completed in the campaign game type. They are both rather heavily focused on teamwork to win attitudes. And much like brink they have AI grunts in place of empty player-slots.
They're also both abysmally short in content. I haven't played it since a week after its PC release. Though for Titanfall this could be explained by the company behind it being simply wanting to sell as much DLC as they can.
Also it doesn't suck
I mostly agree with this review, which is why I got it when it was half priced, £45 is ridiculous but when you can get it for £22.50 it's worth it. Although I didn't really get what you said about people having better weapons than you due to leveling, I find all of the weapons to be on a pretty level playing field personally, never had a problem fighting people more than twice my level.
Never planned to get this, but if it IS mostly multilayer like CoD or somesuch, what will happen once everyone stops playing it to go to the new pasture, or the servers decide to host the next failed MMO?
That's the problem I've always come up about online multiplayer games. Even if there were always people playing the game, there's the issue of servers which are physical things that must be owned by someone who might get them better use eventually. Source games allow for players to setup their own computers as servers, but them DRM and the like gets a bit more difficult to implement.
Liroku Toragi "Move on to"
HAHHAHA. AHHAHA. AHHAHAHHAHAHHAHAA.
Peer to peer server hosting is utter and complete vomit that should have never existed. Dedicated servers are superior in just about every single way. A game with dedi servers will be popular for longer and thus still have running servers LONG after the same game with peer to peer servers would have died from everyone fucking hating peer to peer.
The host system is shit. Please never pretend it isn't ever again.
garthbartin
i disagree. Peer to peer isn't all that bad, and in fact could be better than dedicated servers in some instances (mainly those where the people have no experience or will to learn how to run a dedi)
H.M. Murdock Well most PC games have a host match system if you just want to test something out or play with a couple of buddies which I think you were referring to. I was criticizing the host system as a replacement for dedicated server support. It's unacceptable, but obviously the best is having both as options.
garthbartin
oh yeah, that was what i was referring to and completely changing it to P2P would be disgusting. it is good to go in and mess around with some bots and buddies, but not as a real server. games like Borderlands 2 works pretty well with P2P server hosting, but that's really only 4 people playing at a time
This guys is the only who makes shit like this easy and funny.
When ever I'm afraid I might spend money on a game I just watch zero punctuation. My urge quickly diminishes.
It's hard for Zeropunctuation to make any game look "good." But Yahtzee did say he had a ton of fun with it, and that does seem like the consensus.
Besides, if you can find this game for $20 - $50: BUY IT. But because of AUS's fucked up prices, it costs more here.
Ive played Titanfall for Hundreds of hours now, Its great. FPS's really make their place in multiplayer, and there is nothing wrong with a company focusing on just that when they deliver a to the brief and make a great game. If i had to sit through story dialogue for every match when i play 10 at a time, Id go mental.
I'm conflicted about titanfall. As you said, it's a fun little shootey game, but it is a bit pricey. Along wot that, it is now the only reason anyone has origin besides battlefield, so the extra data taking up your space is dumb. Speaking of taking up data, I happened to notice that HOLY JESUS 50 GIGABYTE DOWNLOAD! Learn how to use a fucking compiler, respawn! I get helps it run all the sounds with less lag, it won't really matter if I have to factory reset my machine to keep it from max capacity and still have other games.
Where's the end?! The music etc.?! That one felt as short-lived as Titanfall's replayability. Laugh out loud hilarious, still.
