    Hey Josh, I live in SEQ too,around home we have a lot of rivers with Mary River cod. I’ve been wanting to catch bass and cod on a swim bait. Can you point me in the right direction on what brand and size swim bait to use. Our rivers are very clean water. 👍🏼

    Mate ive never seen someone use one of those fish scanners before, must feel a bit like a computer game.. not sure if i could ever get into it, i barely even use my sounder.

    • @fishinjosh
      @fishinjosh  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Seems to quite a popular opinion amongst those that haven’t used livescope before mate. As far as a learn tool goes it’d be up there with one of the biggest advances in modern fishing equipment, the ability to see how a fish reacts or does react to lures or even noise/boat presence is pretty crazy.

    • @shawnduddridge
      @shawnduddridge 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @fishinjosh Yea i guess it depends on what youre in it for.. for me fishing was always about the personal achievement of reading and conquering the environment yourself and reducing the chance element with skill and experience, not about ease of catching, so too much technology would ruin that experience for me. But to each their own really, most fishos up north where i am are just trying to get a feed.. and youve got everyone in between.
      Its interesting to see these powerful new technologies emerge, and how they will affect the concept of sport fishing itself.. or if they will even be considered as sport fishing.

      @@shawnduddridge totally get it mate but again without having seen it in action or using it you’re purely speculating on what it’s like to fish with. This video is a 20minute snippet of 2 full days on the waters so it’s far from shooting fish in a barrel or converting everything you see or cast at. It’s one thing to see a fish on the screen but the ability to present the right cast, lead the fish and then read how it’s reacting to what the lure is doing is far from easy catching.

    • @shawnduddridge
      @shawnduddridge 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @fishinjosh Yea impoundment Toga fishing at the tail end of the season is far from easy catching in the first place! Im sure it doesn't guarantee you fish, mate im not saying youre not a skilled fisho either.. its just a very different type of fishing. Id like to see it used on a variety of environments and species, and obviously to see how it compares up against a skilled angler without one.
      My guess is the biggest benefits will be seen when the fish are not active.
      Can you identify species on the screen with any reliability? Or is it more a process of deduction / size probability in the dams.

    • @fishinjosh
      @fishinjosh  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@shawnduddridge you’re 100% right about being able to identify active/not active fish mate! Some species are definitely easier to identify like threadfin, Barra and cod but that’s just because they’re generally larger fish. It also has a lot to do with the depth of what you’re in and how far you have the scope distance set, the larger the distance you cover the smaller the fish become in the screen. Also in shallower water fish will throw a shadow just like side scan so you can get a pretty decent idea of what you’re looking at
