Gleaming the Cube was my absolute favourite movie as a kid, as was Christian Slater, who I got to meet and he was just as cool. I must have located practically every movie location via google maps from that film. Thats really awesome you have one of the boards from it, that makes me so happy.

So cool you're friends with Robert Russler, I would love to see a Horror's Hallowed Grounds for the movie Vamp.

Excellent stuff! I sold my Neil Blender about 5yrs ago from mid 80s. Still have my Steve Steadham tribal when he did own boards. Wish I still had my Rodney Mullins deck. We lived in some good times, the 80s as a whole were pretty 😎. Good stuff

Crazy thing is there is a SLIGHT chance I printed that deck. My job was dealing with returns but when they needed help or I wasn't busy with returns I helped screen decks.

@@malfuncsean I've been trying for years to get a replica deck because originals are trashed or expensive and the reissue is hard to find and ultra rare. I even have a naked deck that I want to stain and have someone print the deck artwork so that i can stick it on but can't find the artwork for bottom of deck or someone to print the decal/ screen for me. I want to add it to my home video arcade with all my other classic 80s decks.

In the early ‘80s I rode a G&S and Powell Peralta, what a trip down memory lane this episode was.

saw you in the UK in 2013, was standing with my friend while he lined up to meet Norman Reedus and I was in a Leatherface shirt and saw you in the line. I remember you were putting coca-cola into coffee and drinking it with Norman. I think it was either mega caffeine to stay awake or an Elm Street reference!

Omg seriously Sean, everything you post was my childhood, I freakin love this!! That McGill board is insane, so rad!! My first board was a Madrid John Lucero Jester, so awesome!! I was a total LA/OC punk rock sk8er in the 80’s, we totally lived these movies haha! Dude the Euclid V, Sad Lands, Swamp Lands, Schofield’s ramp, man I miss those days!! Seriously bud were we separated at birth haha, we were both 80’s Sk8ers, both drummers, played the same venues, in the FX horror scene, how the hell did our paths never cross haha!? Thanks again for the memories man!! Cheers🍻☠️

I wore out at least 3 Gleaming the Cube VHS tapes in the 90s. Can’t wait for it to be released on blu-ray!
I just realized that you have a carpet design based on The Shining. REDRUM. LOL.

That skull skate board reminds me of some old skateboard I had in the 90's. It had a skull and maybe a dagger on it and it said something cheesy like mess with the best, die like the rest. It was some hills or kmart special probably.

I had an Eddie El Gato deck with a cat on it and I think I sold it at a yard sale for like $5 or $10. Probably worth a fortune now.

My 80s skate stories are in Phoenix. With JFA. And dead cat or Howard’s bowl. Did you ever get over to Phoenix? I remember going to many a punk rock shows. One in particular was. Headlines by Black Flag and their new singer Henry Rollins. The played in a Lucas ring called Mad Gardens. Good times. I worked at a skate shop back in those days.

    • @malfuncsean

Chris Bates I only played Phoenix once at a club called the Nile in the 90’s.

malfuncsean 90s. Gin blossoms. Jetzons, zany boys Soylent green. I saw Fear at an old church and was wandering the crowd and there he was. Lee Ving. He said. “These kids think I am an old Fxck. Until I get on stage” Lol.

I always wonder why are the daggers on the new skateboards not the same as the movie they are mirror reverse on the hand guard points?

I have a few of these decks. I’m a big fan on the gleam and the cube skateboard as well, yours says 1980. I know they ran them from 80 something. I thought it was 84 to 89. The movie was made 89 so when they use several these decks, did they all say 1980 and how did you get actually one from the film, I like to hear the stories. I have a newer version of it as well that I’m trying to build.?? Like your videos you rock!!

It was from an auction house that sell movie props. I'm sure there were several of his deck made and used for the film. Generally on big budget studio films like that there are like at least 6 copies.
