I have a Mossberg 500A that I use deer hunting with 3” 00Buck. I’ve had it around 35-40yrs now. Still works great and it kicks like a mule. It has put a ton of meat in the freezer for me. The only hiccup I’ve ever had with it was one time I went to shoot at a nice 9pt buck and it miss fired. I then tried to rack a new shell into it and it jammed. My wife shot the 9pt and a 5pt ran out and stopped to look at the dining buck on the ground. I grabbed the Mossberg again and cleared the shell and killed the 5pt. True story. I call it my “Meat Pole”. It continues to serve me well. I’d like to try the 940 and the SX4. Great shooting. Love to watch you and your brother shoot. 👍

I have the 940 snow goose very fun to shoot. Tried the quad loading as well they people I was with looked at me funny until I had 4 rounds in very quick.
I just purchased this model and I having problems with it not cycling bird shot. Website where I got it had no reviews and it won't post my review mentioning the issue, so no one else will know of a potential issue. It has been hard to find resources/troubleshooting on the matter as well and I don't want to send the gun back to mossberg if there's something I can do. I've had terrible experiences with that, although not with mossberg I will admit. If I knew of these issues, I would have got something else. I just wish there were some honest reviews on this gun, because as much as I appreciate the demonstration, this might as well be scripted by mossberg, and mossberg only wants our money. It seems like the people who criticize gun manufacturers just get frozen out and shut down, so everyone who reviews this gun 1) mentions jerry about 100x and 2) doesn't mention a single thing wrong with it, or how to troubleshoot typical issues with a brand new one. Anyone who is watching the news can see what is happening with a popular police/service pistol and the multiple class action lawsuits for random discharges causing injuries and a death is only a matter of time. But they are doing a great job keeping a lid on it, and I wonder how many they are going to sell this holiday season. Anyway, I would just encourage people to abandon the notion that american gun companies are any different that any other company in terms of the way they treat or mistreat their customers. They spend money and time suppressing the bad news and paying whoever they can to sell their product with glowing reviews (probably in the contract "vendor shall not disparage the product"). Some sellers are using support personnel based in foreign countries to save money, just like the big box stores. So when I see a review like this an the other by the TH-camr on the 940, it is entertaining but not informative.
I have a Benelli super black eagle! First edition ! 24 inch barrel ! I can't find a gun that outshoots it! It's an old gun but still works to perfection
I had one. I wanted to like it, but it was a jam-o-matic. On the plus side, I essentially sold it for what I paid for it. I got a Benelli M2 and Beretta a300 ultima, and am much happier.
will the mossberg 940 shoot 2 and 3/4 inch 1 OZ of shot shells, every thing I have tried has to have high powered shells to cycle, can you get this gun with an 18 inch barrel or will I have to cut it down, and how many 2 and 3/4 inch shells will it hold with the plug out, going for a home defense gun

I gotta cheap @ss Linberta semi auto that runs like a sewing machine! This tactical shotty eats everything! Low brass, high brass. It doesn't care. Very easy semi to train with. Will shoot #7, #8 all day! Then load her up with 00 and slugs. Runs just as good. Best 400USD I've ever spent!
You can use benelli m2 speed out of the box race ready shotgun that can cost you around 2100 $ but you can find with your sponser at lower cost or use can use breda b12i shotgun that has same similar functions as benelli m2

One is a combat shot gun and the other is a competition shooter on a newer platform. Only time will tell if the 1301 will match the M4’s reliability. Beretta already has better fit and finish (and a cheaper price), but the m4 and m2 have a longer proven record.

I can hit 1/4 mile shots after sprinting but cannot hit anything with a scatter gun.

I have a feeling if Steve used the JM PRO model he would have done better on the quad loads, though I doubt if anyone does that faster than Lena!

I had the same issue and Mossberg had me send it in and two weeks later it runs great.

The 1301 is a faster and more reliable autoloader shotgun. The Italians got this to a science.
