HOW THEIR DADS FEEL ABOUT US MOVING TO CALIFORNIA

  • [Alena] I've been preparing the girls for the move for months now by talking to them here and there about moving and listening for any concerns that they have. They are excited, but I know they are also nervous about what to except. They ask if we are going to visit back home to see their dad. Yes! I explained, in fact you can visit as much as you'd like. Over the years, we've developed a good relationship with the girls' fathers. For example, they have spent many Christmas day's and eve's at the other parents house and we just celebrate Christmas on some random other day. That was something I offered up to their dad's on my own, and it worked out great! But I couldn't do things like that until I got out of my own lead and let God be my guide. I knew not being married to their fathers that one day we may end up in different places, and I struggled with what their dads might say or think about it. I would be supportive if one of them moved away, I would try my best to have the girls visit and spend long summers as much as possible---so would they be supportive or hurt or upset? Would they still be able to maintain a healthy, close relationship with their dads? But in our worries and doubt, God makes a way when we follow the path he has for us. I already trusted God that this decision to move was the right one, so why was I worried about what their dad's might say if this was what God wanted? In the midst of my own confusion, I'm reminded God has provided sooo much for us--the opportunity to homeschool in Cali (those who want to be homeschooled) to allow them more flexibility to visit family back on the East coast. Finances to fly them back to east coast and even more surprising, a supportive dad who was so happy about this opportunity that he said he'll come visit monthly!
"When you put your faith in Christ, God commissions himself to protect, provide, and care for you. God always provides for his children, though often it is not in the way we expect or hope. The challenge is for us to see his provision and care, even when it is different than we expect. Because God is God, his ways are higher than our ways ."
    Isaiah 55:8-9
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
    declares the Lord.
“As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts."
