Mike, I loved your solo playthroughs of wingspan and viticulture. I know you love scythe solo as well and it'd be awesome to see a playthrough of that sometime!
That solo procedure for the AI does look like it would take you out of the experience and the focus you had on your own gameplay as it is too long. Does that make sense? Would definitely pick this up for the 2p experience though. Thanks Mike!
I love this game both 2P and solo. The procedural AI makes it play smart and adaptive to how the human player is strategizing. My plays have been varied from over-dominance for myself or the AI as well as as stand-up moments of winning on my final last gasp turn. Compared to other small-box fast games in its class I think it is a 9/10. As a game in the scope of all games I would agree with Mike's score.
I agree and disagree about whether the experience becomes stale. Certainly, I do think there are openings that can set one down the same path where Axis jumps ahead early with start plus strategic advantage. But I feel like no game is a foregone conclusion and I really enjoy the challenge of trying to come back. I don't feel like I have in anyway solved the game and I think there is something to managing the units I get best, whether they are strong or weak early and how it affects my decisions. To be fair, I have not played it at any count other than one. But 20 plays in and it is still one of my go-to games for when I want a satisfying experience with minimal effort/investment of time and mental reserve. It did take nearly a half dozen plays before I felt comfortable running the procedure. Games took nearly an hour early. Now, it is very much in that 20 mins range.
Really like this game at 2 players, but as solo I felt I spent too much time just going through tiebreakers. I saw there are other solo modes on bgg which I want to try but haven't had time to yet.
There is also a game called "napoleon saga" its a strategic board card game for 2 players and its expansion unlocks the ability to play solo! Is there any way "The Dice Tower" is gonna pick this up and do a review? They/you will be the first since mostly France reviews and example of play are available (No English subtitles) But rest assured the game itself has a English retail version. This is what i can find its not much but something: Napoleon Saga - Gameplay Video th-cam.com/video/p4v-PfhMUJg/w-d-xo.html
I would have bought this because I like the gameplay, but I am so burned out by the theme that I passed on it. I'm waiting for WW3 games to start coming out anyway.
Wow what a headache to figure out what the bot does. I purchased this to play mostly solo and now after watching this I’m sort of regretting my purchase. I hate overly convoluted bots. Wish I would’ve seen this review before I purchased it.
Perfect use of a SOLO cup!
I've been waiting for this one to come back in stock. Eager to play this one and it hasn't been available pretty much anywhere.
@PSC Games thanks for update.
Great Job Mike! You did a great job explaining everything. I really enjoyed your final thoughts.
Nice! Have you played the newer iteration of the game system - Caesar?

Yeah I have this and that procedure is too much for such a short game but I understand your points.

Yes! Really would love to get this game. Also mike- check out the plaid hat abomination solo variant they made- curious what you think! 🤘🏻
My Dilisio solo friend 👌
Is 20min also the solo game. Looks like it will take me 20 min just to go through all those options :)

You should check out the Nippon expansion for this game then.
