Great video. I'm trying to figure out the best way to remove just the lid, so I can touch up the enamel paint. I think I can figure it out, but would like to see a video on that specific task for this same model.

I have a Maytag bravos top load belt drive washer. Clothes were still very wet after spin and drain. Replaced the drain pump and it spins and drains just fine but when in wash it does not agitate the drum back and fourth? Any direction I should start in? Could it be the shift actuator? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Weird thing is the nut that holds the gear on the bottom shaft does not work on the new gearcase, it seems to have a different thread pattern, it’s very disappointing because the model number is the correct unit, I will see if I can find the correct nut what a pain!

I have a cabrio with belt drive. Spin cycle sounded like an Apache helicopter. The top bearing in the gear case had failed. The case is riveted together apparently not designed for repair. Replacement cost $232. I figured what the hell and took it apart. Finally got the shaft out and cut bearing off. Put shaft in the freezer then slid a new bearing on. Bolted the case back together. Reassembled the washer. Now it's good as new and super quiet. Cut the rivets with a grinder

Got the gear in and it makes a plastic gear noise when in the test mode when it goes to agitate. I watched your videos several times. Took it apart numerous times and cannot find the problem. The gears didn't seem to be worn any. Would the actuator be bad? Anyone know? After looking at the other post I know this is a waste of time as no one gets back with the post.

    • @rodneybooth4069

I know no one reads this but if it would help one person than it's worth the effort. ANYWAY,,,I found my problem, the NEW gear box inside splined shaft shoulder was 1/32 to short and allowed the outside teeth on the pulley to rub the inner teeth which sounded like it was tearing the teeth off. Put it back on the old gear box and it cleared fine. Measured the NEW gear case small shaft shoulder (inside the spring/splines)and it was 1/32 shorter than the old one. This allowed the flywheel close enough to rub the teeth on the inside. I drilled the inside hole bigger on a stainless washer and put it on the small splined shaft which located the flywheel 1/32 out from the cam unit and so far it's working. My first thought was that I lost the washer inside the unit but after a check on the old gearbox I found no washer and it cleared. It's something to watch for if you buy a new gear case.

@@rodneybooth4069 I think I have a similar problem as you. Washer agitate but could hear the motor turning with some grinding like sounds. Have everything apart up onto the spring gear deal on the bottom. Can't see anything wrong at all. cant figure out how to tear it apart anymore either. Not sure if its a clutch in there or what, dont know much about washers. Also if i push on the bolts on the bottom that holds the pulley on it moves in and out about half inch or so, not sure if thats a problem or what.

@@michaeldevine889 I would if the price of repair wasn't going to be over 3/4 the price of a new one - and if I could find a reliable pro repair person out here in rural Texas 100 miles from Dallas. You would not believe the idiots who call themselves professional electricians, plumbers, carpenters, arborists, etc. There were two different father-son electricians, the first team could not figure out which breaker to throw to turn off the electricity to a wall plug, and the second came for general repairs, my wife got him started on the one because I was out on the property, and when I got to the house and tole him the rest of the work he insisted I had to pay a second trip charge because my wife had only mentioned one faucet and not the other two that needed repair. He would have been paid for all his time and materials, but instead he got an angry customer who will never use his company again, and always badmouth them when possible. There were five other idiotic events like that. Then we had an ice storm and a crew of five young men drove down from Minnesota with two or three trucks and other equipment, did our three days worth of tree work at a very fair price, were so friendly that my wife made them a batch of cookies, and generally earned my complete respect. There is something about the idiots around here that make me leery of any workmen or company until they prove themselves through competent performance.

Linda Buzier - if you have any solution to this I beg of you please reply so I don't have to spend $600+ on a new washer. Today, three years after your comment, I have the exact same problem with the exact same model number washing machine. It gets to where it needs a final spin, the lid locks and its red light comes on, the 'sensing' light begins flashing but nothing else ever happens - just red light lid lock and green light sensing flashing with lid locked down. If I unplug and wait a half a minute it will allow me to open the lid, but then I have a load of extremely wet clothes and no way to spin them.
