No problem mate, it was really fun making it! Regarding trimming and processing vocal chops I made a video about it some time ago, you can check it here: th-cam.com/video/w4UoYJqTjOc/w-d-xo.html Cheers!
Dude, this is so inspiring, i just love all your videos, i've payed for a month subscription to sonicacademy, but i think this is way more cooler, i really hope you will continue updating on tutorials, because i find them all useful and interesting
Thank you so much! I'm really happy to hear that these videos help you out :) I plan on uploading 1 tutorial per week with the exception of me getting sick or having a busy week, so more tutorials should be coming your way soon!
Thank you! I haven't heard of these artists but I can give it a shot! Do you have any specific song examples for the percussion sound you're looking for?
Thank you! I set the midi file to show the bass notes first, then the melody, and then the pad notes - Download link: www.dropbox.com/s/9lgteo08x9tf2yu/Vacant%20Tutorial%20Midi.mid?dl=0
@@Sharpend If you can recreate the first 30 seconds that'd be dope. I'd love to learn how to do it and paint a vibe of my own kinda thing - as an inviting story/adventure
Usually I sidechain just the kick to things like basses, pads & sometimes leads so that it'll sound more powerful and "forward" in the mix. Sidechaining percussion and rimshots can be used more artistically to create "sidechain" rhythms but generally these can stand very well on their own in a mix without sidechaining. Also I personally don't use the same sidechain on all, since that way I lose a lot of control over the sidechaining like reducing different amounts of volume, having different sidechain volume curves, having a longer release/attack and such. These differences can help you accentuate different elements in the your track a bit better imo :) Glad you liked the video man ;)
@@Sharpend At the 2nd minute mark, a tone begins growing in the background. I think it is called a pad. It is somewhat like a string instrument. Sorry I do not know how to call or describe it. :)

Hey! I'd recommend you to check out tutorial #12, The basses I show how to make there are pretty similar, the only thing I'd add to recreate this specific bass would be a lot of pitch bend in the midi of the bassline, or a very long glide time. Let me know if that works out for you ;)
I'm sorry but as of now I'm not planning on uploading presets since I'll Probably include these in a future preset pack. I think you should play with the reverb size & decay and try nailing the lowpass filter envelope and it should sound close enough to the sound I made :)
@@alexeyg8233 Hi, it'll probably take a lot longer than that.. I want to release packs once I have a larger following so that it'll be worth the effort into compiling one.

on example - where to look for vocals, how to trim and process

Thank you! Would you consider a tutorial on Ploy?
No problem! I haven't heard of Ploy, so if you have a specific sound or a song you'd like me to cover that'd be helpful :)
@@Sharpend Wow ! You'd do that?! How about Ploy - Unruly (Helmlock Recordings)
If I can recreate a certain sound/interesting part of the song close enough to the original I'll make a video on it :)
Thanks for the suggestion!

Do you sidechain every single percussion including the hi hats? Or only kick and rim? And do you use the same sidechain on all? Great vid btw man
