  • My identity project documenting 5 days that I was off of my ADHD medication. I took video diaries of how I felt during these times, as well as some moments that show how I acted. My roommate, Alicia, as well as a good friend, Ellen, also share their experiences with me while I was off my medication.
I learned a lot about myself during this process, realizing that I DO have a problem that doesn't just affect me, but also those around me.
This may be funny, or entertaining (heck I laugh and smile everytime I watch this), but at the end of the day, this is serious stuff. ADHD is a biological condition resulting from disfunction in the brain, and stimulant medications change the way the brain works by changing the way nerve cells communicate. People who have ADHD have certain parts of their brain that are not being stimulated, and the medication helps to stimulate those parts of the brain that help us focus, be less impulsive, and be more aware. People who use stimulants recreationally, or abuse the drug are OVER stimulating the neurons in their brain, and it can lead to major consequences.
I appreciate your time to watch my project, and if you have any questions, please feel free to ask :)
It took a lot for me to do this project, as well as have the courage to share this with my peers, so I would appreciate it if you could keep negative comments to yourself.
    Enjoy!
