For those who didn't know, It was confirmed that BSD season 3 ED "Lily" is inspired by Chuuya's character in the series.
During the Bungo Stray Dogs anime 5th anniversary event "Bungo Stray Dogs: Mayoi Inu Tachi no Utage Sono-san" (Stray Dogs feast 3) The cast were leaving comments about all BSD OP & ED, they mentioned that they wanted to clarify something about "Lily", according to them the song was inspired by Chuuya and the lyrics are written and based on his character. The lyrics is known for the messages of searching ones true self, seeking for acknowledgement and keeping sorrows to oneself without anyone noticing.
If you have already read Storm Bringer and Fifteen then reading the lyrics while imagining what Chuuya has been through will make you cry.

Chuuya’s always so grumpy. This song sounds like it was meant for happy endings, though I don’t know Japanese. Is it actually cursing out Dazai or something?
Actually, it’s probably based off of how Chuuya feels about life. He did start out in the pits of darkness in another dimension. I can see how he would have an optimistic outlook on living. Suddenly I feel very happy for Chuuya. 😊

@@Snowflake_flora you may see it as your own headcanon but it does suit both their characters very well.
@@Snowflake_flora during the anime 5th anniversary event the cast has clarified that the lyrics is based on Chuuya character in fifteen arc (s3 ep 26, 27, 28) & storm bringer (not yet animated), like how he struggled to find his true self, seeking acknowledgement & keeping his sorrow to himself. You should watch & read both arc to understand what I mean

This song is so beautiful. I knew it was inspired by Chuuya but I never knew the lyrics. It all makes sense now. The song is about him searching for himself.
I had no idea some of the OPs and EDs were written FOR the show. I love Luck Life and they always make beautiful music about love and life, so I just assumed they picked em cuz their music resonates with the show and characters. Wow, that’s amazing!
I just finished reading Storm Bringer yesterday and it makes this song so much easier to understand. Listening to it almost makes me cry now.

This is the most Saddest and Happiest song I have ever heard, and probably ever will.
The melody is saddening ngl reminds me about what Ive been through and what Ive accomplished so far
I think this song can heavily implies to dazai, atsushi, akutagawa and chuuya. But i don't know why it feels more towards dazai. He wants to be himself but something is holding him back. He cries but he makes sure nobody see it. Deep inside he wants someone to tell him that he's doing good, praising him but nobody sees that. But he never gives up finding a reason for him to live thanks to odasaku, since he is the reason why dazai may have saw a bit of light in his life
And since Odasaku if you notice carefully you can see him shedding the bandagrs slowly in the endings and openings, and also he stays true to the fact of saving orphans (as mentioned by odasaku) I think he heals little by little as he relates to each of his underlings
Did you know that Dazai only lost 1 friend while Chuuya lost 11? All of those 11 friends died within a year when Chuuya was 16 years old. Sorry if you don't understand, I'm not English. 1:01 For this part, it says that Chuuya is a very good person to hide his emotions, he tried not to cry so that his friend could pass away peacefully in the last seconds of his life. This is my answer if you are wondering why this song is inspired by Chuuya while it is more like Dazai's, actually this song is like talking about Chuuya's thoughts, feelings, also where you mentioned mistakes so I just want to correct them.
@@thanhnghiemtuan5725 I agree, even when Chuuya first came into picture there were scenes that showed how he struggles with himself. Also, Dazai overshadowed him while they were together in port mafia, once he left he had no one to prove himself to, and he was dependence on Dazai's ability. Lily symbolise the feeling of rejuvenation within the soul. This rejuvenation can also lead to new beginnings or a different path. So since, this song is inspired by Chuuya character story in fifteen arc (s3 26, 27, 28), I believe it's represent his desire to start a different path & start acknowledging himself when he finally leave Sheep & joined Port Mafia.

If you look at the audio of this song from official luck lifes channel, the thumbnail is a picture of a flower that grows in concrete. So from that imagery and lily's general symbolism, it's growing through the darkness and remaining pure and innocent by being yourself
