    I'm curious how much time you spent working on this board per week, before the channel was your job. Really inspiring! I'd love to build something like this someday but it just seems so intimidating to get started.

  • @jamespaterson3485
    @jamespaterson3485 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is really inspiring! Incredible that you did all this yourself; wish I could afford to just get you to make all my terrain for me because your boards are honestly the best I have seen!
    One thing I was thinking about is how you decided to go with modular terrain? Personally I love it because, as you say, you get maximum versatility with it and it would probably be easier to store etc. However the drawback is that the lines of the tile edges are often visible, although you have obviously done a good job minimising this. Why did you decide to go with modular tiles rather than building a board and then having removable building, for example, I think you can do a bit more to hide those bases by painting the rim black, like with the models?
    Hope you don’t take this as a criticism, I was just wondering how you decided to go this way when considering the benefits of each system. I ask because if we go into lockdown again I will need another project after Minas Tirith! LOTR is the only thing that really inspires me enough to build stuff beyond ‘normal’ terrain so why not Osgiliath next!

      LOTRs seems popular at the moment, and was invited to join the campaign. Wasn`t going to join, but went to a late season wargames show and saw a bag of LOTRs stuff and bought it. Contained some forces of evil so I went with that. Seems to be several people playing good, and elves in particular, goody two shoes pah!! I have found a retailer that sells at a slight discount but ebay lots are going over box price, Mad. Did buy some Morrannon orcs at a good price though. Look forward to the New Year and some new battles. All the best!

    Hey @Zorpazorp! I am trying to make a bridge similar to the one you made for your Osgiliath board for the ASBGA tournament in December in Nashville, TN. Could you please tell me how you did it and some of the dimensions you've got so I can make some great terrain for our fellow SBG players to enjoy in December? Thanks a bunch bud and thank you for your amazing videos! I cannot wait to see what you've got coming up next! Once I finish my Minas Tirith/Pelennor Fields/Osgiliath map, I'm planning on doing Rohan next! Your rohan stuff is amazing!

    • @Zorpazorp
      @Zorpazorp  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much dude :D High praise! I saw the Nashville event get posted on ASBGA, I hope you guys get a great turnout :)
      So construction wise, the whole structure is just built out of sheets of foamcore that I carved a brickwork patter into. I briefly cover that process in the first Osgiliath video which I will link below. Then it's just hit with some textured stone finish paint and painted up. As for dimensions, mine I can't remember off the top of my head, but my board is pretty custom. My suggestion would be to do a bit of a sketch and plan of the sort of board you want and see what will fit. The key element to consider will be how the board slopes into the river bank and how high the bridges are because of course you will either need to have the bridge at the same height as the city and not have very tall, or create a ramp like I did down to the city level. I hope that's helpful by all means hit me up with further questions bro :)

    With your 1b1 pieces, you can also put the river ones in the middle of the table (cutting the table in two parts then), and so, you can also use some more small bridges (the same size as the ones you made when you was younger for example), or make some kind of island, by putting these same river pieces on the sides of the table, so, yeah, as you said, there is a lot of possibility with these 1b1 pieces, I really love them, In the future, would you so some similar pieces with for example Hobbit, or orkish style (for example Gorgoroth fields, or the Shire, and (that is really personal), the same way as you made Edoras' gates, would you do some Isengard's gates? or some Minas Morgul?

      @The Only True Witch-King WOWWWW that sounds like an absolutely incredible game dude! What a wild ride that might have been!! We are absolutely planning a few biiiiig reports like that, the first one coming up will be The Battle of the Pelennor Fields, at about 3000pts a side with six players using the new scenario in the Lord of the Rings armies book. We'll also definitely do a massive Osgiliath report too. I actually development a full long form campaign system designed to represent the long ear of attrition that took place in Osgi. I've uploaded the rules in the description of the first video, I'll link it below. It's designed to be played over many weeks with two game phases, ten turns of normal SBG then a Campaign turn where players manage resources, deploy reinforcements etc etc. It's pretty mental and we'll definitely crack that out at some point :D but thanks so much for sharing man that's a hectic story and I'll definitely take your advice into account, all really good suggestions :)
