- With the rise in temperature of the ball comes an increase in size. the diameter of the ball has increased in all directions. The expansion in area of a solid is known as superficial expansion and the expansion in volume is called cubical expansion.
wow, I get it now its happened due to the thermal energy the molecules of the ball starts moving faster that caused the certain few molecules in that ball to be more far away from the average distance of that molecules and it caused expansion thats so informative thanks for uploading u helped me to short out my doubt.

Why would be a bad idea to stretch the transformation lines more tightly between the towers so they would sag less in the summer
There is a chance that the wires will snap in the winters. In the video the ball expands on heating. Just like that the wire contracts on cooling.

It grows bigger bcoz it is my hot and gets its original shape when it cools down.
Same with the tire of the car or motorbike. The tire will grow bigger when the hot sun heats it up. And try putting water on the tire smock will come out and the tire will eventually get it’s original shape back again. U can let the tire cool down by it self and it will still get its original shape. As long as it cools down. I love Science!

Imagine you cut the ring open and bend it to a rod. If you heat it it will get longer and if you bend it back to a ring it will be a ring with a bigger circumference than before

The reason behind this is simple. When the particles in a substance are heated up, they move faster and spread further apart. And when the particles in a substance are cooled down, they move slower and contract. In the case of this ball and ring demonstration, when the ball was heated up, the particles in the ball moved faster and spread further apart which made the ball to expand. Therefore, the size of the ball increase, so it didn’t fit in the ring. But when he cooled the ball, the particles moved slower and contracted, which reduced the size of the ball. Therefore, the ball fit in the ring once again when he cooled it down.
