This was such a special video for me !!! I’m Hannah’s mom and this made me cry tears of joy and I felt my heart swell with pride and joy to see my precious daughter sail around “the horn” in the Artemis !! Thank you for doing such a masterful job of documenting this epic journey ❤ I’ve been hearing the stories about their sailing adventures but this was the very first time I was able to actually see what it’s like 🎉 Fantastic!!
Hey Hannah’s mum, I’m Thomas’ sister!! 😊 Although i follow their journey regularly, I felt the same emotions whilst watching this as it’s the first time I’ve seen them and Artemis in this way aside from being on the boat with them ⛵️Emotions ran high for me too but always happy tears and the same feelings of being so proud of them both for everything they have achieved so far and everything they are still yet to accomplish 🥰💖
@@elizebeauty A great accomplishment for both of them. Tom is a nice guy and very brave to sail with an apparent physical condition. Hats off to both of them.
Sorry it has taken so long to respond! We are so glad to have met both of these wonderful people and that we got to share in this beautiful experience with them. You have raised a fantastic human being! Thanks so much for the kind comment :)
Great to see Tom and Hannah achieve this. It's also fantastic to actually see one of our boats make this epic trip. Very impressed to hear of Artemis' speed to wind speed and angle as she has no main sail. Thanks for the video.
Cool! Certainly your turn of Cape Horn had more spice to it - wind and speed - but for sure this was another kind of trip. Your friends' cat has very interesting solutions for his condition and that is an example to all that think that, because of that, one better stay home and see life from a TV set. A very special cheers to the couple!! See you next week! Will love to hear you comparision of the two experiences! My best, also, to your friends! Fair winds!
Did not realize how close to the water a cat. can get. Such a beautiful couple you all met. It looked like your friend is disabled. How difficult is it for just the two of them to actually sail. I am disabled after five spinal surgeries mostly from old age. Don’t think I’m as brave. Takes beautiful people to meet beautiful people. ❤️❤️❤️🙏🏼🕉☯️
Wow what an awesome video. The catamaran look so comfortable and state-of-the-art. Roxy looks like she enjoyed herself too. Sailors make the best friends❤
What a beautiful place. Gorgeous scenery. Nice boat, this cat is great. Thanks for sharing your videos. It is invaluable to see the emotions and excitement in our faces while sailing through Cape Horn. Congrats again!
Great content as always. Loved the shot of Roxy with her head buried in the blanket .... sleeping ... with her ears at full attention. Thanks for taking us along
Thankyou for capturing this on camera & sharing it…Very proud of Big Bro & Hannah & everything they have achieved 😊 Glad you both & Roxy enjoyed your stay on Artemis too, she really is a beauty 💖
The Artemis is quite a vessel. Tom and Hannah seemed to be a great couple to join with for this venture. I will be very interested in your thoughts about cruising on a cat vs mono, long term. It looked like the seas were not as large on this passage compare to the Sweet Ruca passage. Great video, I enjoyed my 2nd trip around the Cape. Safe Travels.
As ever an excellent film. I did feel it was somewhat like AI sailing! Not the threat of jeopardy. I recall decades ago sailing a cat and when one hull lifted out of the water I was somewhat alarmed - but then that was an 8 metre dinghy! Safe sailing.
Really good video. Not as dramatic as the first rounding but none the less a great accomplishment. Hannah and Tom are a really nice couple, and Artemis has plenty of room for everyone. The pictures and smiles at cape horn are priceless. Best wishes to Hannah and Tom. Everyone keep having fun, stay warm and stay safe. Bill
A sure sign you’re on a British boat - hot water bottle in a cosy 😊 And, of course, an electric kettle for the frequent “brews”. Artemis looks very well sorted, and thoroughly workmanlike, those Cornish builders being no strangers to proper seagoing designs. Tell Curtis the footage was worth the cold and wet he had to endure to get it!
Awesome video it was great you were able to crew on Artemis as I sure it was a great help with great new friends. You videoing documenting the sail was amazing as were your previous video's. Until next video stay safe
Thanks for the kind words. It was an amazing experience and we were lucky to meet such a nice couple and enjoy the catamaran. Thanks again for tuning in!
SWEET RUCA Folks !!! bout time we could see you again, Looks like Lots of fun, maybe take a ride down to Antarctica?? I Would and catch fish all along the way. That is a Beautiful Catamaran, the dingy on the Cat is a curious shape, I guess for easy access? All the Best to Tom and Hanna and You Sweet Ruca's
I remember seeing a bit about this boat back when it was being built. So cool to see Tom so far out there proving his vision. Thanks so much for sharing this!
Artemis the goodness of wild animals. Love the name. The crossing or passage around the Horn this time around was calm compared to your crossing. That Cat is massive, like sailing in a small apartment. Pretty sweet
Slick setup. Both for the dinghy and the cat. It seems not as "exciting" as the first trip was but part of that was probably the weather too. Excitement is not always the best outcome either. The bridge deck on that cat seems lower than I have seen before, is there much wave slap on it? I would guess that was done for a level deck from "swim platform" to saloon. The video was tastefully done.
Happy to hear you enjoyed. The Atremis is pretty slick! We will talk more about our thoughts and experience sailing aboard her in the next episode. Bridgedeck slap was one of the things we really wanted to experience for ourselves as well.
Another great episode aaaaand, rounding of Cape Horn. 🎉 🎉 🎉 Not [seemingly] as exciting as the rounding on Sweet Ruca, yet the fast was seen due to the character of a large performance catamaran vs monohull. Happy the crew made it in good humor and safely.✨ 🌊 💨 ⛵️ 🗻❄️🌨️🌞✨
I can't see Artemis slicing through heavy seas. But then, I would not have imagined a paraplegic Captain down there at all, so... Damn well done Tom and Hanna!
Congratulations to all for rounding the Cape - twice now for the Sweet Ruca Crew. I enjoy vicariously adventuring along with such an accomplished group of sailors. The following is in no way meant to take away from the journey; just a curious observation… something lost in translation. Cape Horn or Kap Hoorn got its name from a Dutch/German explorer; naming it after his home town in the Netherlands “Hoorn” which is Horn in English same meaning. However, Horn in Spanish is Cuerno - Cabo de Cuerno would be correct. Hornos is Spanish for ovens. Curiously I see the Chileans even sign post as Hornos - of course Chile has a right to call it whatever they want; but, the words’ meanings are completely different than the original European name of Hoorn. Things that make you go Hmmm. Adventure on and happy sailing!
Aloha from Hawaii islands. What a beautiful place sailing . See you happy sailors that's very nice .Amazing cool episode. Fear winds the best of luck for you guys.
I have a new catamaran and/or trimaran hull design which has been in progress for the last 15 years. It is new/novel and therefore patentable. The hull is asymmetric. Though, for description purposes, it could be described as a variant of a conventional symmetric and a conventional asymmetric hull shape. Since, its shape is symmetrical above the waterline and asymmetrical below the waterline, the result of extending existing lines of a conventional symmetric hull at and below the waterline. This catamaran and/or trimaran hullshape is suitable for a range of craft from SAILING to small and medium POWER craft. SAILING: The hull's benefits for a sailing catamaran or trimaran are; *speed *pointing ability - VMG *no necessity for of dagger or centreboard *simple, flat panel design lines, ease of manufacture. POWER CRAFT: Benefits of an symmetrical hull shape without the negative characteristics such as; *speed of asymmetric shape *more balanced reaction to waves - less broaching *banks in turns To anyone with interest. Cheers
Dazcat is definitely my favorite catamaran builder. Comfortable or fast. A Dazcat can do both. I worked at Wyliecat sailboats and built a wheelchair friendly monohull.
Cape Horn's 56 in Europe is Edinburgh & Copenhagen latitude. Not shockingly far South seen from the Northern Hemisphere but for a sailor it is a major milestone. Another thing is, Antarctica is really big and crosses outside the Antarctic circle somewhere (it's about 78% larger than Australia - bigger than USA + Canada).
@@SailingSweetRuca First, I know nothing about production, BUT, just the sounds of sailing and the both of you seem like a great soundtrack. You yourselves and what you are doing is fabulous content as it is. The soundtrack music is dilutive. Maybe a segue tune here and there, but accompaniments are distractions, and anything lyrical is a no-no. I just watched your well articulated catamaran discussion and am confident you could replace much to all soundtrack with commentary and insight. It seems you may under appreciate all you have to offer.
You should of got some fat lifejackets and gone ashore with the other tourists at the cruise ship inflatable dock, might have taken some of the magic out of it eh!
Correct, no main. Flat water? We rounded at the same time as the Ocean Race boats, check their speeds to understand the wave conditions ;-) It was not flat.

There is sailing, and that is Sweet Ruca.
A motorhome around the Horn.

Dia my Cape Horn: cruise ship. Cold, darn cold, wind but beautiful.
Amazing, and big props to Hanna & Tom.
Perfect timing, as we look ahead to a challenging ride from San Francisco to Santa Barbara this coming Monday/Tues/Wed! Getting in the mind space!
Excellent! Sail fast and safe!

that is an awesome cat. I've seen other coverage of that builder, pretty impressive. thanks for the video guys!
Our pleasure! Artemis is an awesome boat.
Amazing catamaran and an awesome achievement.
Little more room on their boat .. your going to feel a little closed in when you get back.. . Congrats on two roundings of cape horn ..
Very spacious indeed.

bet your first thought when he brought up that 'most southerly point' thing was, 'well let's go to Antarctica than'

Blasphemous. 😂😂
Mind boggling how courageous to sail off shore in a wheelchair, loved the episode

Right on! Very cool!
Does that cat not have a mainsail?
Nope, I guess it makes sense when you have half the crew with a movement restriction.
Correct, she is not a standard sloop or cutter rigged cat.
🤘🤠
Yeehaw!

What company in the U.K., made the custom Cat that you rounded the Cape Horn on?
Dazcat/Multimarine in Cornwall Uk

What make Cat and length?? Very interesting as a "mono-list"😊

The big orange lifejackets do give the cruise ship tourists away easily.
Fail that there was no boat tour. Haha. So what’s the deal with that cat, just two headssails and no main?
Planning to share more in the next video. 😀 thanks for the feedback
Where are the big seas?
❤️🙂👍
No main, just a jib in flat water.
Correct, no main. Flat water? We rounded at the same time as the Ocean Race boats, check their speeds to understand the wave conditions ;-) It was not flat.
That is maybe why i would never buy a cat.
No place for a floating caravan.
