Gives some depth to Dinobot's character, too. He's read up on "early" Autobot-Decepticon conflicts, so there's a basis for his philosophies of war.
It comes up again in "Possession", when Dinobot is quick to recognize and explain the treachery associated with Starscream's name.

First Terrosaur catched himself saying "royalty", then Waspinator's childlike foolery and finally Inferno's maniacal scream and blast-off which transitions to Optimu's jets.

I hope you meant that in a good way.
If in nature an antilope protected her young from sights of nature until they reached a certain age and than suddenly expected it to behave like an experienced adult, it would be blissfuly unaware what is truly expected of it to understand. It would have a very small chance of survival.
Similarly, a child should know about nature, wasps, bees, snakes, etc. just like they are taught to be careful with sharp objects.
