How many of them are actually involved in developing the models and the required hardware? I bet all of them are service based making use of the AI models developed by others.
We must note the difference : Ashish Vaswani is an Indian who wrote (along with his Google colleagues) the revolutionary research paper on Transformer model which changed the world of AI for ever. Let's accept it, India is late in creating LLMs but it is focusing towards creating value using AI. Big players like IT consultancy companies are focusing on LLMs now.
As of now, in India, it is using AI to be more productive. India is one of the few countries where AI adoption is huge. But what we need is new models like Deepseek coming out of India. There are many LLM models in regional languages, but what we need is an international model that can at least compete with OpenAI, even if it can't beat Deepseek at the moment.

Indian companies are mostly focused on early profit and Lacks Vision.
When someone succeed they beg for technology and try to collaborate. Since India is a huge market they gets somewhat success but in this way India will never be able to lead

What AI, current India is happy with one-upmanship with Pakistan and Bangladesh. Let alone compete, we are hardly in the race, and the people who are good at these things are being happily absorbed by other countries.
I used to hear Indians say, "if China can do it, India can do it too, and better". However, what they say simply do not reflect the true reality, that, not one single Indian CEOs or the Indian techies or the tech gurus of Indian ancestry could develop a simple app to compete with the Chinese Tiktok or Chinese DeepSeek AI. 😅Looks like the technological gap between India and China is just like the Olympic Gold Medal gap between India and China all over again, zero against 40+ if you include Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Mr. Murthy and people of similar mindset are holding back India’s AI growth
Fully agree
A chief technology officer should be ahead of time. He doesn't inspire me.
Bear in mind that it was Narendra Modi, touted as the "most popular leader/Prime Minister of the World" by Indians (India), who proclaimed to the entire world that:
*"The 21st century belongs to India"*
*"India has become a space superpower"*
*“India is today the fastest growing major economy in the world"*
*"India is the voice/leader of the global south"*
*"India a Vishwaguru (global teacher of the entire world)"*
*"India/Indian farmers feed the world"*
*Indian medias saying "India global tech leader of the world".*
😅🤣😂
The most popular leader claim was based on some international survey, not just indian media and also it is true that we are the fastest growing economy in the world. (although don't know the current details but last time I checked, we were)

Every consultancy firm in India doing the outsourcing business will be affected as these jobs will be taken over by AI, managed by experts on site. TCS is well aware of that and hence puts all these jargons without substance.
As a indian, this guy really dumb this shame for india
As of April 2024, India had almost 6,200 artificial intelligence (AI) startups. The number of generative AI (Gen AI) startups in India was over 240 in the first half of 2024.
Fantastic - now where are the popular apps and use cases that Originate in India ? Surely ONE should at least be top ten in the App Store right now.
So, Indians are not dumb. But at the same time, people like this TCS gentleman talk BS about AI. Why? The reason is company and ecosystem culture. It is conducive for people become “CTO” with zero intelligence.
TATA is one of the main problem for the people of India .

They don’t know the stuff. most of their leaders should be fired or retired. They grow in these companies as paper pushers and managing some spreadsheets to track gross margins, billability, bench, funnel etc. And you are asking big questions about AI to these jokers!!! We should not give a damn about these C level folks in these companies as no one, including their customers don’t give a damn about these guys when they talk.

Boeing is the reason India can't become an AI leader.
I thought Indians were very good at software development. Why isn't one big single software company from India?
Indian software companies are mostly service oriented, that is where they can provide more jobs to people, as of now that is the need to uplift financial conditions of people. And besides AI is not just dependent on Software, it needs hardware, which currently India (and many nations) does not have capabilities.
