Col de Sommeiller - Offroad - BMW F800GS - 4K

Auffahrt zum Col de Sommeiller (2995m), dem höchsten legal anfahrbaren Punkt in den Alpen. Von Bardonecchia geht es bis Rochemolles zunächst geteert, dann über Schotter zum Lago di Rochemolles und weiter zum Rifugio Scarfiotti. Hier steht die Mauthütte (5 €), von der es dann zunehmend gröber (SG4) in vielen Kehren weitergeht zur Hochebene Piano dei Morti , die einer Steinwüste gleicht. Der Schotterweg schraubt sich dann mit nochmals gröberer Piste und vielen weiteren Serpentinen bis zum Wanderparkplatz der Passhöhe hinauf. Die eigentliche Scheitelhöhe des Sommeiller-Passes (3005m) kann nicht (mehr) angefahren werden. Insgesamt ein Highlight für jeden Schotterfahrer.

Der Col de Sommeiller oder Colle Sommeiller wurde nach dem französischen Ingenieur Germain Sommeiller (1815-1871) benannt, welcher den Tunnel von Bardonecchia nach Frejus baute.

Ascent to Col de Sommeiller (2995m), the highest legally drivable point in the Alps. From Bardonecchia to Rochemolles the route is paved and continues on gravel to Lago di Rochemolles and the Rifugio Scarfiotti. Here you will find the toll hut, from where the route becomes increasingly rough (SG4) with many hairpin bends to the Piano dei Morti plateau, which resembles a stone desert. The gravel path then winds its way up to a hikers' car park at the top of the pass with even rougher tracks and many more serpentines. The actual summit of the Sommeiller pass (3005m) cannot be reached (any more). All in all, a highlight for every gravel rider.

The Col de Sommeiller or Colle Sommeiller was named after the French engineer Germain Sommeiller (1815-1871), who built the tunnel from Bardonecchia to Frejus.
